When the band formed, Shirley was basically a tool that the rest of the band purchased. Butch Vig (you know.....the Nirvana guy) more of less had a female voice that he needed to compete his project and he picked up Shirley as an accompaniment.
This is SO 1996. The music, the aesthetics, the video quality, the attitude of everybody. So different from 1993 or 1999 for example. Seems to me like the 90s were like 30 years long
Amen to that. Being from Wisconsin and knowing Butch was a graduate of UW Madison has always been a point of personal pride for me. They had a great foundation and once they brought in their ginger sorceress from Scotland, lightning in a bottle was achieved. Never saw them live but catching them now on you tube is so damn satisfying.
