I love all the photos but the one at 8:06 is so 80's unedited and awesome: the low saturation and contrast, the star filter, the colors, the model has also such an Annie Lennox vibe to her!

Mylar is great to work with. I recently did a portrait with a male model for a fashion shoot. Mounted onto V-Flat for a reflective look. Going to have to try this with the roll left over. Warning about mylar. It leaves fingerprints very easily. Wear gloves to setup your shots.
Thank you for this video, I have tried so many things to get this look even trying to create in photoshop and have never been satisfied enough to try with a client. I had never heard of using mylar till now and I just ordered a roll and now planning to use for upcoming swimsuit session.
I absolutely LOVE this look and image! Ive recently been inspired by your star filter use and bought one, and when I used it with a harsh light, didn't get this amazing result. Any suggestions or tricks to really get the star filter to burst like this? THANK YOU for your knowledge and sharing with the photo community!
May I ask if you have a link to the star-filter used please? and what number it was. I bought one recently, but I can't see any change or sparkles in my images at all, I have used the right type of styling/make-up and light - so very odd! I'm wondering if it's broken perhaps... Thanks Lindsay :)
@@lindsayadlerphoto Thanks for replying Lindsay! The reason I asked was because I couldn't find this particular colour on amazon. Maybe it's a regional issue.
@@lindsayadlerphoto ok can you advise which one? I have the Apeture F10 (part of the 2000$ purchase with apeture 600d that I mentioned on zoom) but that one and every other on Adorama seems to only mention constant as does every article when I look it up even though I know you use one one flash and my friend says they all should work on flash

Some great magical vibe from 2000s. That's pretty cool

So stunning. I’ve had two rolls of Mylar sitting in my studio for six months now. Now I need to use them!
SAME!!! I trying to find new ways to use them -- I know there are creative possibilities!
Have you link to the mylar rolls used in the video? There's a few different types. Thanks

Mylar is used to keep people warm almost like a blanket in a pinch in a case of emergencies
Good to know!
I prefer the first look .. simple and classy
As always... magical, creative, crystal clear and spot on! Thank you Lindsay👍🏼
Great tips on editing also. Love the final edit shot.

This would look great at Photographer convention, or Clothing designer show.
Yesterday purchased 5m of mylar😂 Thank you Lindsay🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️
I am proud of having used this material and technique, as a mere little photographer, long before this well-known photographer 💪🏼🤗😁
hahaha. its been around forever-- I saw a photog use it in like 2000 for a shoot-- not new concept for sure, just a new way to use it.
WOW!!! Great results
Such a cool effect, so creative! Love it!! 😍
Thank you 🤗

Thank you for this :)
Brilliant stuff Lindsay, your creativity always amaze me 😊👍
Thanks so much 😊
Woow beatyful picture
Love your work Lindsay, your such an inspiration! What size roll of Mylar and where did you get it?
This was actually two pieces side by side on rolls, so I'd say maybe 4ft wide? Just bought on amazon!

Very cool ! Question: What thickness is that mylar ? Thank you !
So beautiful! What power is the flash on?
fantastico

It's a Tiffen 4 Star filter. adorama.rfvk.net/n9xZV
Why do u always go with the iso400 in most of ur studio shots? Why not iso100-iso200?
Very creative awesome image. Interested to check out your advanced educational option.
I love this star filter! How did you do that? With Photoshop? Or with a lens?
The star filter is something you put on the lens.
Hi Lindsay! I’m a big fan, just learning photography tho! Where are your nft’s listed?
Foundation!
Amazing video, the best! How many mylar rolls did you use for this setup?
I think I used two, but I of course didn't 'use it up" I just rolled it back up when I was done !
What kind of star filter do you use? I bought one but it barely picks up any stars. 😢
You need specular highlights-- its not the star filter, its the quality of light and reflections that make the magic happen!
Thank you Lindsay, can you please share where you sourced the large seamless Mylar roll you had on the floor of your set?
❤❤❤💣💣💣
I live in Vietnam . Does this course have Vietnamese transcription?
It does not, sorry.
Is this specific mylar available online anywhere?
I did amazon!
@@lindsayadlerphoto Thanks for replying Lindsay! The reason I asked was because I couldn't find this particular colour on amazon. Maybe it's a regional issue.
Was this shot with flash or the modeling light? I see the aperture is very open at 2.8.
flash
hi , can it be done with only profoto b 10 ?
Why doesn’t this have a million likes this was so perfectly explained and the image is wow breathtaking 🫶🏼😍
Spread the word, tell the masses, they must like! lol
Fresnel on flash ? Can it be constant ?
results would be similar for strobe vs. constant (but Id stick to all strobe or all constant to match similar power outputs)

@@jamesg1974a I use nanlite continuous with Fresnel. Either their 300B with the FL-20 or I use their 60C with the FL-11.
@@lindsayadlerphoto right. So to be clear. You use the nanlite fresnel but on a D2 strobe? Can I use my aperture on a strobe? I know, I’m needy
@@jamesg1974a To do that you need an adapter- I use the Profoto fresnel on the D2
👋👋👋
Where can we order the filter ?
Would this work with a black backdrop?
not as much no!
Is it continuous light or impulse?
strobe
Why lower the shoulders?
