Discovering a Abandon mercury mine on the eastside Mt diablo

Come along with me as I explore a rarely visited place in mt diablo the abandoned mercury mines of the eastern face of the mt.
The mine is not owned by the State just the surrounding area. Although you a view the mine very easily.

I thought as a kid I hiked up a trail in that area that led to an old dam. Have you seen that?

Wow very cool! I grew up on Oak Hill Lane and road my horses all around that area. That dump truck was there 40 years ago! I didn’t know this was part of Save Mt Diablos area. Where do you park to hike this area?

Hey Debi, Thanks for watching the Channel. Look like that truck goes way back some. Most of been nice riding your horses around here. Yes thanks to safe Mt diablo its part of Mt diablo state park now. Its nice that we have them as there responsible for a lot of the space in Mt diablo we enjoy today. You can park off Morgan Territory road there is a few spots going south on the right. Also short after the turn on Morgan territory road about 690 feet down there a large open gravel area on the right you can park in there. Here is the gps coordinates for you 37.903896, -121.874288 that should help. You can park in there plenty of space just don't block that gate. Have fun and hike on.

I have hiked all over Mt Diablo and love it there. I was hoping you were going to show the mines that are on that side....Mt Diablo Mine, RHYNE Mine, and a few others....I have gone on the property of the Mt Diablo Mine, but no access inside...
