Hi, Saoirse. I'm moving to Florida soon and the hurricane season is one of the things that makes me anxious. Glad to know you are safe .

I am glad the books were unscathed, that the kittens remain oblivious and that you are safe and attentive to your feelings.
As I listened, 50 years slipped away. I was with my dad and my dog when we had to leave our home because the carpet had started to float. There had been a cyclone called Wanda and a flood.

I'm glad that you and your tabbies are safe and sound, and I wish that someday you and your loved ones could relocate to a part of the country where you won't be vulnerable to the danger and chaos of tropical storms. God bless you, stay safe.

Hello Saoirse, I am genuinely and profoundly heavy-hearted for all that you have been enduring. I lived nearly all my Life in Florida and understand the precariousnous as well as daunting terror that had been imposed upon you, Georgia, and Mr. Bromley. I read your posts on Instagram, and all that you articulated and shared was lacerating to my Spirit. We do not know one another personally, but your channel, your presence, your poetry, and the energy that emanates from your Soul have touched me over the years. I am quite rarely on Instagram and only happened upon your Hurricane posts. 🌀 I found myself perusing your postings and realized how immensely I can relate to you and many of your sensibilities. I wept whilst reading your haunting tributes to your two dearly-departed kitties. I marveled at your accomplishments as a thru-hiker. Then, your page introduced me to the extraordinary realm of Christine Mcconnell, whom I had never heard of before, in my quiet little insular Life. I am now utterly fascinated by her and the Curious Cottage. I, too, am a young woman Homeowner. I am terribly sorry you had to experience the unknowingness of what you were going to return to your own Home and see. After the Death of my beloved Mother, whom I lovingly cared for for seven years, I experienced the insidious trauma of a multitude of precious, irreplaceable belongings being cruelly and callously thrown onto a "Junk-Removal" truck. My heart will remain broken at the losses, but I still have my 70+ handwritten Journals and my family photographs. I am wishing you and your sweet kitties continued strength to overcome the vicissitudes brought about by those storms. I never thought it would happen, but there is now a lovely Cat 🐈 in my Life helping me to overcome chronic illness, depression, and so much more. This was quite verbose! I simply relate to you, inestimably. Thank you for sharing the essence of your Spirit with the world. I appreciate the inspiration. 🖤

    Every "Just in case"... shivers.
"Because the cats are ok... and I fixed what I can, and everything else can wait for the light of day." I just liked this.

Glad to see you are doing OK...from another Helene survivor based in the NC Mts. (Black Mt.)
I first ran across you while you were hiking the AT - can't believe it's been that long.
** I think Odie did the yearbook and he stepped away from the AT a few years ago. He tooled around in a bus and would routinely toss out things @ Trail Days from the roof of his bus. I believe the AT Museum has taken over the task.
