You gotta do it your way! I agree...too many van builds to watch and it can really make you nuts! Top advice on the not taking a van build too far. I got so overwhelmed and lost in research when I did mine, so many conflicting opinions, it took the fun out of it in parts. Just gotta go your own way and learn from your mistakes 🙏 yous are doing a great job so far! Best of luck with the rest x

Aww well done both… I think you’re very capable! We insulated ours with hemp but I think wool is also a good choice! And you were doing it right in our books! That floor is excellent👍, I used 9mm ply with similar spaced batons. Wall panels, I used separate panels. So when I fitted CCTV that paid off as I was able to run wires and leave the base units in situ👍 That approach worked for me.🙏 I guessed at my build and it worked back in 2019, do what makes you happy👍 My 3tonne van is 2500kg fully loaded water, gear, Full diesel tank and passengers. My build is 3 years old and still good as new😎 ** I would suggest putting fabric or wall carpet between bare wood and metal or it will squeak like a bag of mice when you're driving🤣👍
😂😂.. Ok! We just ordered a load of the 4 way stretch carpet to cover lots of area and ‘hide the van’ we’ll keep the squeaky 🐁 in mind! 😅.. Well done with your build, sounds great and you did good to keep the weight down🙌
So freaking impressed with your build. Can we say that all that stripping down and re-planning, .. having lived in that space for a while, has ultimately helped your build? Omg I'm in my van in bed keeping warm in UK and 13 seconds I'm first viewer he he small things ey, love you guys xxxx keeping it simple best way, excited to see end result
Decent thickness vinyl flooring is far easier than sticking down tiles/laminate & you can take it up to inspect the floor. Glad you're screwing the floor down for the same reason, it always freaks me out having fitted carpet at home & not being able to see underneath, all sorts of problems can be going on out of sight. Do it all your way!!
I totally agree about No vapour barrier, i've had 3 van plus the one i'm living full-time in now & never used vapour barrier its like you said Ventilation & everything needs to breath. So glad your doing your van Your way not following the same van builds as on utube their all looking the same . Love & hugs as always to you both & Charlie & Dizzy ❤❤❤❤
Hi There Nick Sarah and Doggies , Hope you are All well , Great video , your work on your van looks Amazing , you look like experts , its coming along lovely , so Keep up the great work , Thanks for sharing , Take care All XX👍👍
Hey guys you're doing a great job. Minus the rain , But at least you're not dealing what we are here in oregon. Freezing rain. Anyway keep up the good work Lori and you guys get along sowell
Sarah, your so right, those bobble removers are so satisfying to use, but I`m envious yours is so much bigger than mine. 😄 - On the subject of Vapour Barriers in vans, the school of thought from the experts is they stop water vapour from seeping deep BEHIND the internal decorative cladding of the van when the outside temperature is very cold on the external metal of the van, this in-turn creates moisture on the inside metal when the heating is on, and as such where over time rust forms that you can`t see - Obviously do your own thing, but my advice is its easier and cheaper to put up a moisture barrier than it is to keep taking cabinets/cladding apart to inspect - love you guys.
Thanks for the message❤.. We’ll take our chance without the vapour barrier, Vinny didn’t rust inside without one and he’s 33 years old and never had one and he was LIVED in😂.. Anyway, Thanks so much for watching..😁

All retired, mobile mechanic. If you put plenty of wax all on the rusty parts, you will not have to worry about that again waxol will creep into the rust and prevent it getting any worse and because of where it is wax will not be washed away just take my advice, use the clear wax plenty of it and forget about it. Love the channel, stay safe
You guys are incredible. You are an inspiration and example of how to live and work together on a daily basis. I look forward to seeing the end product. Cuídense muchachos xx
You are doing a great job, hubby will watch it tomorrow and I'm sure he will be impressed. You are both seasoned travellers and know what works for you. If you ever get the chance there's a young couple who have bought a, house on the Isle of Skye absolutely in the middle of nowhere, she's an artist and they've converted one of the outbuildings to a studio.. They have a spoiled to death dog called Jack Spaniels, I haven't seen this week's yet I know they've got another pup. I thought it might interest you as it's another young couple doing something very similar but completely different if that makes sense. Love your videos keep it up can't wait for the finished result. I agree about the ventilation we keep our conservatory window open a tiny bit all the time and it's stopped it steaming up in winter.
👍 awesome 📸 video, glad 😊 too see you are making the van build your own. Thank's for keeping your videos under 30 minutes as my attention span is not that long. 😆
Hi Sarah, & Nick, so pleased you invested in Waxoyl, you will not be disappointed, get lashings of it in those sills/box sections!!! 😊 my lass suggests to perhaps yacht varnish on the floor,,( she thinks the centre section would look very pleasant and would be lighter than Lino! Seen as you guys are ‘doing’ a lightweight build, just a thought, and remember, it always takes longer than you think!!!! Have a great week
We built our van 6 years ago in a similar way to you, keeping the weight down, fixing to the metal parts of the van and treasuring space - it's the way to go.
Hi Nick & Sarah. You build the van the way you want. As you say, there are so many different opinions out there. With my Peugeot Boxer build I installed a vapor barrier., but with the Ford Transit I am bout to start, I probably wont install one. As you say it is all about ventilation. You are making a great job so far.
Fantastic to see it all taking shape 😊 no doubt a lot of hard work still to be done but wow the results will be amazing 🤩 well done 👏 the weather 🌦️ is crazy here in England too! Blimey it’s been freezing 🥶. Your a great team and I’m 100% confident you’ll do it in the time 💪🏻 can’t wait to see next weeks update. ❤
We did our van build outdoors in a Danish summer. Two tips: Get one of those cheap plastic pavillon tents to get shelter from rain or sun, can be very practical. Also, you can make a big L for making sure you angles are right compared to the floor, regardless of how you are parked. I am pro vapour barrierer but it is of course your choice 👍
Ok.. Thanks for the advice😊.. Not sure about putting a gazebo up in the carpark, don’t want to push our luck! Hopefully the weather will be kind over the next month! 😊
You two are fabulous! We just love watching your videos about building the new Van and the fact that you don’t want to do it anyway except your own. Good on you! Can’t wait for the next episode, thanks for making us laugh and perhaps we might get one of your de-bobbling devices too! All the best, Zoe 💃🏼, Malish 🕺, The Pickle 🐩 and Melvyn the Motorhome 🚐
We recently got a set of "Cabin Air Vents" from Todo Campers (they are in Sevilla but have an online store). The vents fit inside the front window, is rain proof and has integrated mesh. This is a super easy way to improve ventilation in the front especially on days when it's humid and wet (or dry and hot I guess 😂) Especially with the dogs it might work well for you if you leave them in the van. Highly recommended.
I totally agree with no vapour barrier. Last thing you want is to trap moisture. I would however have a window, even if a small one. But each to their own. Good luck with it all.
the water in the gutter that caused the rust, the clips that secure the plastic mouldings on the outside of the van probably let the water in, remove the mouldings and seal around the clips with silicon 21:28
If moisture becomes a problem for some unbeknownst reason, running the air con either on heat or cool will remove humidity. Great measure and cutting of your panels. I’ve seen a build with the closet/toilet/shower cube across 1/3 of the very back. The door still opens and then looooong counters/cabinets on the opposite side. Just a thought for a longer unencumbered area. Your planning is ace. Good Luck and Cheers
Folks you’re doing a great job,and may I add very brave doing this build on you tube you’ll never please everyone no mater what way you do it so just please yourself, the cavity at the bottom the water comes in from the fasteners for the plastic trims on the side of the van just leave the rubber bungs out, I’d paint down there with some oil and if you can access it later just keep renewing it. 😊😊
You guys are doing g a great job on this van build. I don’t know anything about it but you have done your research and know what you want. And you work together so great. I love that the most. Keep up the good work.
Looking good guys. We are looking forward to seeing how far you've got by the time were down your way. (Probably next week, we'll be in touch). Happy to help if needed. FYI our ply floor is only 9mm and its plenty strong enough! You made the right choice not using 15mm.
Good video as ever, and a good start to the build. You are doing right asking for advice, but at the end of the day it's your van, your rules. More power to you both, though maybe figure out where your windows will go before wasting wood by boarding over the area.

Having had a leak from my heatera while ago, I wished I had taken my lino up the sides a few inches it protects the wooden floor from getting wet.

Thanks Ian.. Best of luck with your new build😁.. They’re hard work aren’t they!! But very rewarding too 😊
Fantastic to see it all taking shape 😊 no doubt a lot of hard work still to be done but wow the results will be amazing 🤩 well done 👏 the weather 🌦️ is crazy here in England too! Blimey it’s been freezing 🥶. Your a great team and I’m 100% confident you’ll do it in the time 💪🏻 can’t wait to see next weeks update. ❤
awwwww, Thankyou so much.. Feeling confident! Once we start getting the furniture in next week we’ll be really excited ☺️☺️xx
Great work can't wait to see more you make things look so easy doggies happy just being with you
Thanks so much.. Yeah the dogs prefer to be with us than without unless it’s raining of course ! Sending love 🥰
You did everything good.
You will get there guys x
I'm so excited!! I think it's awesome you're doing your own thing! It's gonna be great❤🎉
Thank you so much!!
Hopefully I would use it for our motorhome when we are on our travels and obviously at home when not travelling
You two are fabulous!
We just love watching your videos about building the new Van and the fact that you don’t want to do it anyway except your own. Good on you!
Can’t wait for the next episode, thanks for making us laugh and perhaps we might get one of your de-bobbling devices too!
All the best,
Zoe 💃🏼, Malish 🕺, The Pickle 🐩 and Melvyn the Motorhome 🚐
awwwww, Thankyou guys.. Sending lots of love.. Ypu need a de bobbler in your life😂☺️xx
Happy New year
Great progress, the lino will make it waterproof
We recently got a set of "Cabin Air Vents" from Todo Campers (they are in Sevilla but have an online store). The vents fit inside the front window, is rain proof and has integrated mesh. This is a super easy way to improve ventilation in the front especially on days when it's humid and wet (or dry and hot I guess 😂) Especially with the dogs it might work well for you if you leave them in the van. Highly recommended.
Thanks so much guys, we want these!!! Going to look at their website right now! Have a great Friday xxx
Wow you’ve done really well guys keep up the good work you’ll all be up and away for Valentine’s Day ❤❤❤x
Yay!! Thanks so much.. Let’s hope so😊
I think you are so good!!! Well done!
awwwww, Thankyou☺️☺️xx
I totally agree with no vapour barrier. Last thing you want is to trap moisture. I would however have a window, even if a small one. But each to their own. Good luck with it all.
We’re having a window! 2 actually 😊.. One in side door, one in back.. Just be doing them later in the build!
Your van your way 👍😎
Wow! You’re doing a great job! It’s going to be perfect for you all❤
Thankyou❤😊❤😊
You are doing a cracking job. The ply looks extremely good quality.😊
Thank you! Cheers! ❤️
Keep up the good work both 👍looking forward to the next video.
Thankyou so much ❤️ x
Great video. Love Sarah's "#vanwife" top ❤
the water in the gutter that caused the rust, the clips that secure the plastic mouldings on the outside of the van probably let the water in, remove the mouldings and seal around the clips with silicon 21:28
Ok.. Thanks for the advice! We’ll do this 😊 xx
Good job guys 👍👍👍, enjoying the van build very much xxx
awwwww, Thankyou☺️☺️xx
If moisture becomes a problem for some unbeknownst reason, running the air con either on heat or cool will remove humidity. Great measure and cutting of your panels. I’ve seen a build with the closet/toilet/shower cube across 1/3 of the very back. The door still opens and then looooong counters/cabinets on the opposite side. Just a thought for a longer unencumbered area. Your planning is ace. Good Luck and Cheers
Thanks for the message Michelle, we’re considering everything so always good to hear folks suggestions 😊
Thanks, yeah that’s the plan with the gutters, we’ll keep an eye on them and re treat when needed 😊
Oh and yeah, filming this and sharing on TH-cam is daunting and we know people will be judging big time but hey ho, 😂😂
You two are really rockin it now. Thanks for everything ❤
awwwww, Thankyou☺️☺️xx
You both do a great job and I can’t wait to see it at the end
I find it so funny where you do your build
😂😂.. It’s quite funny doing it in the carpark.. Thankfully it’s a big carpark and we’re down the far end that’s quiet most of the time😊
You guys are doing g a great job on this van build. I don’t know anything about it but you have done your research and know what you want. And you work together so great. I love that the most. Keep up the good work.
awwwww, Thankyou Sally ☺️xx
Hi great insight into a van build, I checked out your Amazon shop and couldn’t find the security cameras you used, keep up the good work
So excited for you guys can't wait to see the end result x doing a super job ✨
your attention to the minutest of details is brilliant..i would purchase a build by the two of you without question-unique integrity
Awww Thankyou so much ❤️ x
Looking good guys. We are looking forward to seeing how far you've got by the time were down your way. (Probably next week, we'll be in touch). Happy to help if needed. FYI our ply floor is only 9mm and its plenty strong enough! You made the right choice not using 15mm.
Think Lino is a brilliant idea
Good video as ever, and a good start to the build. You are doing right asking for advice, but at the end of the day it's your van, your rules. More power to you both, though maybe figure out where your windows will go before wasting wood by boarding over the area.
Thanks, yeah we already decided the windows will go in the side door and one in the back, we’ll be doing these later in the build😊😅
Loving every minute of this build…you guys are awesome..much love to you all xxx♥️
Thank you so much 🤗
Those floor cuts were top notch 👌 cant wait for the finished article 😊
Thankyou so much ❤️ x
Awesome watching a rebuild
