Alhamdulilah, Subhanallah. I was just in a conversation with a Lebaneses Arab Christian who wanted to convince me the Ahad in the Qur’an requires Al in front of it to be grammatically correct in Arabic . Why is that incorrect?

Arab here, and I’ve been studying the Arabic language for years. There’s nothing grammatically incorrect in the Quran. The experts among the Arabs, who were the strictest and most eloquent in language, all accepted the Quran as the greatest expression in the language. As a matter of fact, the Quran was so widely accepted that grammarians (Muslim or not) refer to it as an evidence when establishing a rule of grammar, because if it had any issue then the Arabic experts of the Quraysh would have pointed it out. We also have pre-Islamic poetry of Jahili Arabs with the same usage of the language (a predicate of a sentence without ال).
My advice, my beloved brother, is to not engage in these types of conversations with others if you don’t have knowledge; they will give you doubts and leave you confused. Allah knows best.
