This is great, Lucid. My favorite is that Animate Tree. I've just started a game, and during expansion, those level 1 nature mages (which seem to be all over the place) cast it. Most of the time, it's just a little bush or something. Then, one time, they animated this _massive_ tree, resistant to our attacks, which had four attacks per turn of its own. It was really pretty funny! I was not expecting _that._ :)
Considering the massive path and research requirements for that lightning spell I would not call it overpowered at all. It is in the same area as spells like firestorm but at an even higher research level, it should be that powerful
I know this video is only combat spells, but I'm boggled by Immaculate Fortress. 50% less damage PLUS the walls prevent ethereal beings from passing through AND the besieger can't see how damaged the walls are AND its permanent for 10 gems. I think a fort that has mages with Iron Walls + Immaculate Fortress is basically impossible to take without Mass Flight. And even then you're probably going to lose insane amounts of troops and commanders.
There's an astral spell too that stops ethereal, for 10 pearls. Enchanted Walls. Increases wall integrity by 100. And permanent. Not as good as immaculate fortress (which probably needs a bump in gems), but still
I think my favorite part of the new spells and casts is so so so many effects have been moved around off of pretender chassis and special units allowing literally everybody to snag it with a bless or a spell or an item! It actually adds tons of depth to the combat, and seeing that army sizes have increased as well, dom 6 is gonna have some pretty intense battles!
Those rooting spells seem even more useful vs elves than ever before. Seems like thugs and sc will have a harder time too, more offscript threats to address. If it's just a snake ring you can make it. But if you need to resist multiple elements in addition to some random troop squares with sharpness, it's costing more and more.
Wow, Lightning Field looks pretty good! Definitely needs to be a Level 9 spell, and you have to actively research it now so that should balance it a bit.
Thanks for the video, the new spells look amazing (the animate tree one in particular!). Eager to see your video explaining how to get vanilla sprite/texture with MapNuke!
One of the new Glamour spells really stands out to me for thugs. Dance of Ephemeral Swords, Evo 3, Glamour 2. Basically gives the caster 3 extra melee attacks (false damage) every turn. The Tuatha have thug chassis that have Glamour 2 without even needing to put extra effort in. The Vanir and Feminie have some Glamour 1 thug chassis just waiting for a boost to be able to cast Dance (like Twilight!).
Feels kinda weird that glamour counters itself? Since both the illusions and true sight is in glamour. Kinda feel like there should be some true sight in other paths as well (astral or nature maybe?)
That mass chain lightning looks a little bit overpowered. It probably should do -5 base damage. :) BTW, if that "mass berserk the trees" is ok, we could also have a battlefield wide maws of the earth.
Yeah with the singular research, counterability (little but of shock resist) and of course CRAZY high magic path requirement, it doesn't seem too strong. There can only be very few casters at a time that can cast this kind of spell. It seems relatively balanced, since you forego a lot, probably stronger spells to research it.
So far all Temper Armors has achieved for me is to completely break MA Ulm. All my mages keep casting it instead of scripts.. Q_Q My units already have 20+ prott whydydothis. Its not like I can skip construction either. Help. Edit: Hm. Turns out they just went off-script due to perceived enemy weakness. Still annoying they default to this spell though.
Video game trees/plants are universally "weak to fire" for no good reason. If humans are neutral to fire, trees are neutral to fire. We don't even have bark.
Lucid can you please stop showing spell and other descriptions for a bit of a second? Please either do not show them at all or atleast for 1.5 - 2 seconds.
11:47 Aurora Borialis? In Dominions 6? In debug mode? Located entirely in this video?
Lucid: Yes.
May we see it?
Lucid: No
Excellent cast of a meme, sir penguin
Well Lucid you are an odd fellow, but you steam a good barbarian.
But what if... I were to project self and disguise it as my own teleport?
@@Isvoor Ohhohoh! Delightfully pantokratorish Lucid!
The invisibility buff icon is invisible, bravo Illwinter 😂
Had to laugh out loud at 2 am when i saw the March of the Ents and the Lightning insta gib. Good stuff.

yeah there are trees near the edge of the field a lot of time
so if you place a mage over there, it can sometimes get a big one

The irony man... at 12:30 you say "everybody can see just fine" and the unit you clicked on has "lost an eye" lmaoo the odds
Finally letting us do LOTR trees

Wait besiegers can see how damaged walls are now?
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
You just have to change your approach
Send doomcasters, foul vapors etc and whittle them down 🤣
@@nicolinrucker5181i think that they can’t
12:34 "everyone can see just fine" selects the one guy with a lost eye in the army lol

Now i am just imagining Yomi with a million stunning, fear causing and awe buffed tiny demons :D gotta try that one
I see that Illwinter is marketing this game to treehuggers

can you do a video showcasing all the new legendary spells please
yeah, ill do one for globals soon
I thought the Tree spell was busted... until I saw the Lightning spell. xD
Lightning Field is designed to kill units with 0 SR, by doing 1 damage a hundred times. I'm betting 5 SR will reduce damage by like 90%

Im excited for 100 precision AOE freeze and sleep spells. My favorite way to play is using lots of average line troops and debuffing the enemy
Would love to see your take on the changes to Air magic. Some powerful stuff in there I think
With the addition of Glamour magic Fire magic is no longer the 8th best school of magic. It is now the 9th best school of magic!
This wind guide change will make Caelum archers a lot more relevant.
yeah definitely!
Feels kinda weird that glamour counters itself? Since both the illusions and true sight is in glamour. Kinda feel like there should be some true sight in other paths as well (astral or nature maybe?)
Most of the elemental paths counter themselves too.
Well, if you know how to create illusions you likely also know how to get rid of them.
Nature/death crosspath now has an anti thug/super combatant spell.
Translation: Fireshield no longer works well on Asphodel.
year 2024 is when 'glamor muscles' became a genuine compliment

BTW, if that "mass berserk the trees" is ok, we could also have a battlefield wide maws of the earth.
Since it's a very large number of 1 damage rolls, it might be countered pretty significantly by Thunder Fend.
imo level 9 Evocation battle spells SHOULD be that strong. It never made sense to me that all the boardwipes like Foul Vapors were in other schools.
Especially now that you can only research one level 9 spell at a time!@@TheRalviisch

Uh yeah, asphodel *might* be "fixed".
just played it, seems pretty nice😂
Who'd've thought that adding the ability to go full murkwood was just what the faction needed to not be a total waste of space?@@teakwondochest3287
