My grandmother always made the same trifle recipe as yours even with the Jello. Reminds me of Christmas with her. I live in Newfoundland, Canada, where there is a lot of British ancestry. We drink a lot of tea and celebrate Guy Fawkes Night every November like the Brits. We also have a tradition of mummering at Christmas which comes from our Irish ancestors. Isn't it silly? But I just want it nice, I know you know what I mean. And it's hard for me to relax knowing that there could be something that is embarrassing. But boy... I managed to do that anyway. Ha! We did have a great time.
bless your heart! Whole scenario looks so familiar. But with health issues over the past years, I’ve had to learn to start cleaning at the beginning of the week and prep as much food as I can ahead of time so there’s very little to do at the day of the party. This has worked well for me.
This was such a disaster day because I tried to do too much! The good news was that the family was understanding, helped me make the chili, and it ended up fine. The irony is that I had saved the most important cleaning until last and did the stupid stuff first. So the important cleaning didn’t get done. Oh boy- did I learn a lesson that day! Right now, my health issues are preventing me from entertaining at all. I guess I have plenty of time to think about what I will do next time. 😂

I do small gatherings now and have the children bring sides I try to atick to meat and dessert. I like your videos. there is not a lot of help out there for seniors who have health issues and need advice on how to do life differently.

Love ya girl--I clean for at least a week, windows, baseboards behind big items I don't usuall do. All pictures and items on walls washed and on and on. And my house is small compared to yours lol. Have a lovely week

I too get very stressed out and overwhelmed when I host. I break all of the tasks up over a week. Doing it all the day of would drive me to drink lol. I've been told by friends and YT that when people come over, they are there to see me and not the state that my house is in. I do get that but I still have to have everything just so. Leslie
Oh boy... I wish I'd done that. I got too behind with all of the video editing and ended up wearing myself out so much that I've missed some uploads. My Vlogmas (24 videos) has turned into "a lot of videos in December, but who knows how many..." Your right about them just coming to see me, but I still kind of worry when I see things are messed up. I've had too many bathroom situations and I'd rather not do that again. Ha!
This would never happen to me because I am not the hostess type; therefore, no one comes over. 🤣 It would really tear my nerves up if I had company over for a party like that. I am a good guest. But just not a hostess. I wish I could be the type to make people feel welcome in my home. They ARE welcome of course....but I am so nervous that I can't enjoy it. As usual, this was a fun video. I just love how relatable you are. I hate that you broke that pitcher but that's probably the 4th thing I've seen you break!! I noticed that the talking stopped at that point and a song started. Yeah, I tend to drop things and break things a lot. I also trip and fall. I think my depth perception is off because I can't seen down from the bottom of my glasses. You tried to do WAY too much and too last minute. As a guest, I have never inspected the hosts’ ceilings or upper shelves etc. All I care about is: is the food good? Is the bathroom clean? Is the furniture comfortable? Are the decorations pretty? Are the guests friendly? Everything else is fluff. You set your expectations way too high❣️

Thanks! I got that spray at PetSmart. It's called Cat Pet Block Spray and is made by Nature's Miracle. "Gary" is my default panic move. Ha!
