- Watching the Second Battle of Geonosis in slow motion revealed SO many hidden details that everyone missed watching these episodes for the first time. So, here's a compilation of all the different things I've found! Let's begin. (Part 1)

Fun fact. The geonosian weapons are sonic cannons. Not only does it seem to electrify whoever it hits. But because of the sonic vibration when it hits, it turns the clones insides into jello whenever they get hit
If I remember correctly the sonic cannons work by containing a pocket of sound waves vibrating in air within a bubble of plasma, which would explain the electrifying effect when it hits someone. However I read that on wookieepedia like 12 years ago so that could be wrong

Commander Cody doesn’t get enough credit. He’s the real MVP of the episode being the only one that actually made it, establishing a defensive position the best he could, coordinating rescue operation and holding out long enough for reinforcements so a counter attack can start, all the while being completely surrounded and overwhelmed
Honestly Cody continually gets the bad end of the stick in the Clone Wars lmao. He’s cool but he almost never appears and when he does, it’s with Rex, who ends up stealing the spotlight

The clone at 11:52 was honestly impressive. Dude was sprinting at full speed and managed to hit a moving target in the air.
Curiosity, the camouflaged clones are from the Desert Clone Trooper class, in this case in a sand desert, the clones were not necessarily trained in that area but they could specialize, their armor is standard phase 1 and by choice of soldiers they could choose the helmet of ARF Trooper, on their shoulders they have an orange paint, it seems obvious but it is to identify their legion in the case the Attack Legion 212.
The Flame-Troopers don't need to explain much, but their armor is prepared for incidents with fire, that is, it could have a tactic of soldiers surrounding the enemy and setting fire without worrying about hitting the friend will no longer work, the name of this armor is Hotspot MK2 and before this armor the used armor MK1 but it was replaced for not filtering the polluting gases of the clones properly which left them seriously injured.
the desert colored units with the strange helmets are actually part of Jet's unit, they're special operations clones that fought under jedi general Ki Adi Mundi, so it's likely they're a special detachment from the 21st there to assist the other regiments
Remember that just because a trooper is down doesn’t mean he’s dead. The armor was never meant to stop blasters entirely. The were mostly meant to turn killing shots into injuring shots. It’s sort of like a bullet proof vest. It doesn’t make the bullet bounce off, it just keeps it from killing you. Same with Stormtroopers
8:20 maybe the clone just got knocked out cuz the armor is supposed to spread the energy of the bolt around the body which renders them unconscious (if he survived) and lowers the chance for internal bleeding
A lot of them are just knocked out when they get hit by just blaster same with the later Storm troopers

Or like a High Explosive round with tanks, the force from it fragments the armor inward and sends shrapnel into the clone
6:15 that is how any invasion works. On D-Day, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Sicily, Gallipoli, every landing in history, many men never even set foot on the battlefield. Or only took a single step before being killed. War really is hell.
I think I heard from somewhere that the clone we see hanging on to the gunship is the same clone who said “good thing those bugs can’t aim”. Also the geonosian starfighter was designed mainly for geonosian use so for other species it would have been extremely difficult and essentially a death sentence to fly it.
I like to think in his last moments after he lost grip and was about to plunge into the ground that he realized those bugs can, in fact, aim.
This is old lore but back in said old lore it was stated that geonosian star fighter pilots essentially were given birth to inside their ships and grew inside of them
5:50 The bugs are later revealed to be a hive mind, so them barrel rolling in sync is just the Queen/Hive-Mind saving mental computing power😂
Fun fact about the moment where a bomber saved Kenboi and the 212th, Ki Adi Mundi actually requested one earlier but Yularen, being salty about the “there’s no such thing as luck” moment claimed he didn’t have a Y-wing to spare.
Then only a few minutes later, when requested by Skywalker, Yularen, having gotten to sort of like Skywalker, grants the request.
Moral of the story, don’t piss off the guy in charge of your ships.
Fun Fact: The Geonosion ships use hundreds of little tractor beams to aim their cannon. That's why the Geonosions were so deadly. So when that clone said "Good thing these bugs can't aim", he couldn't have been further from the truth.

“Why do some slowly burn and others explode.” Probably the angle and location of the hit. The one that slowly burns looks like it was an angled shot on the wing, where as the ship with the guy who said good thing they can’t aim was a direct shot to the center.
Props to the camera man surviving the battle without dying or being shot out the sky
I recently got this stellar book called "Battles that changed the Galaxy", and I love it. Feels like a History book on the wars across the Canon Star Wars. For Legends fans, I recommend "The Essential Guide to Warfare". When you look at the wars and how each of them were fought differently, it really sets in the immersion.
8:13 the armor is supposed to spray out the impact he probably got knocked out this is the same reason why stormtroopers get one shot the impact spread and they literally feel the pain all over the body
As I re-watched Clone Wars to prep for season 7. One of the things I noticed in this arc. Was when they were fighting the Geonosains with the flame throwers, a Clone gets stabbed in the neck by one. It's really hard to notice, because it happens so fast.
As others have said, not all hits result in a dead clone, there is a significant chance they only get knocked out (really bad considering how long they are out, but not as bad as dead, maybe)
Lore wise, if I remember my right, not every hit is an instant kill. The clones’ armor is supposed to disperse the force of the blaster impact across their body. Which isn’t fun. And they’ll usually get knocked out. Depends on where they get hit.
If I’m wrong, someone please correct me.
As i understand it the clone who's armour reflected the bolt didnt die. The point of clone armour which was strongest covering the vitals could deflect/absord the hit of a blaster however this would result in the clone being rendered unconscious rather than the bolt killing him. I could be wrong but as i remember thats how clone armour functioned.
The clone trooper who had the blaster bolt reflect off his armor how he died wasn't from the bolt itself but the damage he sustained from being hit by the bolt, (by the looks of the bolt it seems to be one of the turret bolts which means a high caliber blaster bolt so taking a hit from this as a human/clone would cause broken bones internal hemorrhages and possible organ failure such as lung collapse kidney shutdown or heart complications all of which could lead to death before a medic could attend to them the sad reality of war.)
Not every clone you see lying on the ground is dead. One of the first ones you count, has a medic running to his aid, meaning he is still alive, - just badly hurt
4:40 simple answer, there are no main characters in the ships that explode entirely, but there are main characters on the ships that only get a bit tossed around and are able to land safely
I think the reasons why some seem to take a hit and only take slight damage, while others get obliterated, is based on both where they are hit, and whether it was the Interceptors that hit the dropship or if it was the AA canons from the ground.

at 4:00 the clone with the back pack hanging on for dear life is the one who jinxed it by saying "good thing those bugs can't aim"
"Why do some slowly burn and others explode" Part of it has to do with where they're hit, part of it is the type of weapon they're hit with (whatever the energy-weapon equivalent of caliber is), and part of it is the angle they're hit at. A 90 degree hit will do a lot more damage than a hit from 45 degrees (hence angled armor in the real world).

It sucks even more for the clones, bc the geonosion blasters rupture organs Upon impact, probably one of the worst deaths possible
As an Australian I approve the message of taking a military grade flamethrower to a swarm of bugs and utter roasting an entire species.
8:21 if you notice the one that gets hit and the bolt shoots off of his armor he doesn’t drop his blaster like the other did I think that guy actually lived
There is a difference in the crashes of kenobi and skywalker, skywalkers pilot pulled the nose up at the last minute, thus slowing the ship down on impact and making it easier to survive. Obi Wan’s pilot lost control, thus meaning that the gunship landed on its belly, making it harder to survive. That being the reason obi wan was the only survivor, while anikin had his whole squad

If you look around at 12:15 you can see one of the clones start running like stupid fast somehow
ngl i find it funny that the bolt which appears like it get's deflected by the clone armor at 8:20 was most likely a leftover bit from when ahsoka is using her lightsaber as the positions line up with where he ends up contrast to where she was
The ship with the twi'lek on it you mentioned at 2:55, the writing actually is aurabesh, it's just stylized. It says "Lucky Lekku".
yeah it took me a while on my own to realized that it was just stylized because the aurebesh k looks like a backwards c even though it's usually a rectangle with a missing part
To be fair some of those troopers might not be dead. Rex was hit with a sniper and lived. So especially with that reflected one he just might have been incapacitated.
It's always the battles of Geonosis that are my favorite, just like the battle of Umbara
The armor is actually ment to knock them out and deflect blaster bolts, same thing with stormtrooper armor. (I think)
11:10 the roar of those flamethrowers sounds like a lion roaring and I like that
The funniest thing is that in episode 19 season 2, anakin is cutting the cockpit of the space ship to escape the the zillo beast and obi wan says to windu "Just make sure to catch them when they fall" and rex says "alot of Skywalkers plans involve falling" which I thought was pretty interesting because he referencing when he got thrown off the bridge
Its alot darker when you realise what those sonic blasters do, whenever a organ is hit by it the gun liquifies all your organs and the only thing that holds the clones shape when he's hit is his armor.

I've been enjoying this series too and I was late to the show. This is really something special that no one else has capitalized on before. You should have put the clone that said good thing those bugs can't aim then his ship gets shit canned immediately after
Answering your question, I imagine there’s fewer exploding bits in the wings that the fuselage. Or the cannon fire tears through the wing whereas it detonates in the fuselage because there’s more material.
9:17 geonosian sonic weapons don't just electrify what they hit, they also liquefy the organs of what they hit
unfortunately they don't always liquefy the brain
The trooper who founded the blaster bolt didn’t die. Even if the bolt bounces it still has enough energy to knock the clone out because the armor disperses the energy across the rest of the armor
(Not so) fun fact: the Geonosian sonic blasters actually liquefy the insides of their target, as stated in the ROTS novelization.

This show could be very dark if they wanted it to be. Remember in that first episode with Tarkin at the Citadel where this clone gets cut in half by a emergency door closing?? You can hear him get cut in half, but they probably couldn’t show it due to ratings lmao
I imagine the bugs barrel roll together cus those lower class warriors are probably part of the hive mind, not independent like the higher ups, and they probably maneuver really well together
Clones that you see get shot don't always die. If it's just the right conditions you just get knocked out
The writing on Lucky Lekku is in fact Aurebesh - it's just the handwritten variant (much like how cursive doesn't always resemble Latin letters until you start really looking at it)

9:17 Fun Fact: When people get hit by these shots their organs get liquified
Okay so I’ve played airsoft and paint ball and can tell you sometimes with the rental guns or maybe a cheaper gun out there if you pay attention enough can see paint or bbs fly at you. It’s awesome for a split second till you realize it’s trajectory is headed for you and you panic for another split second and try to move thus explaining that scene.

So idk if anyone answered this, so sorry if they did and I am late, but in the books like old books clone armor deflects quite alot but they have openings or the red blasters are way to powerful and breaches usually if a clone is hit the concusive force sometimes knocks them out, or breaks there bones like that clone who got hit in the chest ribs are probably broken from the blast impact of the energy since some of those are from imagine those turrets as 50cal machine guns, but hey he could just be knocked out and injured

The one with the bounced bolt could be injured. Figure it could be having the force of something hitting you. Still hurts, could kill, but not penetrate
Why do some gunships get hit and explode, and some just flame out a bit? Well, setting aside plot armor, realistically, it depends WHERE they get hit. Did they hit a fuel pod? Was it a solid hit or a glancing hit? Did it hit the canopy or the ventral structure? Think about it like this- if someone punches you in the shoulder vs the nose vs the stomach, would your reaction be the same?

As far as I know, when clones or troopers get shot it doesn't mean they're dead, they could be serverely injured, but might survive if they're taken care.

Watch Band of Brothers when 101st is jumping in them landing at Point Reign is very similar. Either you were on a airplane that made it or you went down before you made the drop zone. Just a game of luck.
