Lord Patten - Post Brexit, Post Trump, Post Truth

Lord Patten's lecture was given at the Las Casas Institute's Truth Telling & Politics conference. The conference was held on December 3, 2016 at the University of Oxford's Said Business School. Chancellor of this University of Oxford since 2003, Lord Patten is a former Member of Parliament for Bath from 1979 to 1992. During the latter part of this period from 1989 to 1992 he served as Secretary of State for the Environment and as a Cabinet minister, and for the final few years was also the Chairman of the Conservative Party. Unseated at the 1992 election, Lord Patten then served for five years as the final Governor of Hong Kong until the hand over to the Chinese Government in 1997. A life peer from 2005, Lord Patten was more recently Chairman of the BBC Trust from 2011 to 2014, and in 2015 led a committee advising the Vatican on changes to its media operation.
