  • Glomerulopathy = pathology of the glomerulus
Pathology of the glomerulus is suggested by albuminuria (albumin in the urine). Albumin, due to its large size, does not get filtered through a healthy glomerulus.
Glomerulonephritis (GN) is a specific form of glomerulopathy, that is, inflammatory glomerulopathy. The main clue to GN is the presence of glomerular hematuria (dysmorphic RBCs and RBC casts) +/- AKI and/or leukocyturia.
In part 2 we will discuss an approach to glomerulonephritis.

Brilliant, I didn’t know why we would have RBC cast. I totally forgot about the Tamm-Horsfall protein. I always memorized it as if there is a RBC casts then it is glomerular disease. Thank you very much for teaching me something new every time. I am looking forward to watching part II.

Thanks for identifying albuninuria as the most specific finding for Glomerulopathy.
    Keep up the great work!
