It's incredible how she seemed to express such deep emotions at such an early age. She actually recorded "All Alone Am I" when she was only 14 or 15. Her unreal vocal technique still brings tears to my eyes. She is an American Treasure, in my opinion.

I remember hearing this song I knew it was several years old even at the time ,then but I rememberd it as my husband walked out the door to a younger woman, leaving me with a toddler and 6 months old baby.I loved him for years after but he never loved me.I grew up brought up my kids ,and now have my own home ,and grandchildren and have just been made a Great Grandmother just recently,.....him only God knows because I do not ?????? Connie helped the solo women get to the #1 spots occasionally. No one cared for years that much on solo female artists until Connie Francis. She's the Best by her voice, being able to do multiple realistic emotions for whatever the mood is of a song, as in believable.. Most singers back then sounded kareoke since they all did the same songs. You can tell who was talented just on that alone.. The full package is what I mean by that. It's not just about singing a song... Same goes for how anyone can paint a picture after practicing... It's much more than that when it comes to the songs. Brenda does a great job. She's very talented. Connie for me is at a much higher level with what all she has done. Brenda is lucky for having her great songs, perfect marriage of 58 years, keeping her voice, not getting a nose job, not getting raped and no one murdered in her family that I know of. Connie has been through HELL. If she didn't get the nose job and went through the Hell I mentioned then her 1970s and later albums would have been way better and she would still be singing today. It's very sad. I'm happy for Brenda. When you compare talent, what they both did in their prime and level of work they did well Connie deserves the title as The Best Solo Female artist of all time in my opinion. ❤

A little backstory: Brenda, the "A-Team" studio musicians and the Anita Kerr singers first recorded it on Feb 17, 1963. Producer Owen Bradley was not satisfied with the results and re-arranged "Losing You" with a trumpet solo. He called in Don Sheffield to play on a new version. Sheffield, I think, had a classical background. The trumpet here, IMHO, does not come up to Sheffield's level.
I should add that the second recording took place only 3 days later on Feb 20 and rhe single was released Apr 8. The "B" Side was "He's So Heavenly", a Jackie DeShannon/Sharon Sheeley tune that she had recorded the previous year.
Great information. Where would we be without all these great artists preserved on Ed Sullivan Show videotapes? Those CBS audio engineers knew how to mike an orchestra and the singer using an overhead microphone so that nearly everything was heard in the mono mix. I don't recall Brenda singing my favorite hit of hers (Is It True) on Sullivan in 1964. If Decca Records ever had the foresight to pay for some promotional tour support and bring in the session musicians for that track from the UK (Jimmy Page on guitar and Bobby Graham on drums), what a videotaped archive performance that would be! Graham played on loads of hits by British artists including "Downtown", "You Really Got Me", "I Only Want To Be With You", and "Glad All Over". He was the UK's version of Hal Blaine.
As a teenager I was crazy over Johnny Ray. He came to Singapore and I was so happy I got a chance to see him. This was many many years ago, now I am in my 80's still love his singing. God Bless him.

Little Miss Dynamite, influenced by her childhood touring with Patsy Cline, was one of the most emotive, effective, wondrous singers of our age.
Still great almost 60 years later. The arrangement by the house band outdoes that on the record, and that is saying something.
