What a solid TH-cam video! Extremely informative and straight to the point. Really enjoyed this video and this type of content.

Can you update this to talk more about delay issues if you have multiple TVs (using Apple TV 4K) - including 3 TVs out on a Patio for sports as an example?

What kind of multi channel video encoder would you recommend for 4k 60 fps, preferable rack mounted?

I agree with the video, residential users don’t really need distribution… for commercial purposes it makes a whole lot of sense, but it is really ultra overkill for a home, no matter how large it is, due to realistic tv viewing habits.

Good information. In my house we 100% stream everything we watch. No dish and no cable. Our new Samsung tvs have these apps built in and they work great. My question would be without using a matrix, how would you fix timing issues between my living room tv and patio tv if I’m watching a live game through the streaming apps? I also imagine that something like control 4 would need the matrix to fully integrate itself?

Hi a question , if I use a matrix system and I want to play PS5 ,will my controller work on the 3rd floor?

      Gaming Controllers are usually Bluetooth.
Video distribution won’t extend the range. So if they work now from that distance from rack to room on 3rd floor that’s how they work.

awesome video. How do you typically handle HDCP compatibility issues with a matrix and HDMI extender set up? Is it just the manufacturer of the video distribution hardware issue or the video source issue?

This came up during an event this weekend, but even for cord cutters we have issues with syncing multiple TV's (timing wise) in multiple rooms when fed by the internet. I'm hoping distributed video source even from an internet feed will solve the problem. Having a game on multiple TV's and not in sync time-wise was a pain.

Yeah so this is one of a handful of reasons why even with cord cutters you see people still using some level of Video Distribution. Timing for sure, there's also challenges feeding the audio that Vid Distribution can help with in a situation like you mentioned. Also just ease of saying play 'episode 1' to all TVs, rather than turning each tv on one at a time. It's why when people tell me Cord Cutters will kill Vid Dist, I'm always like maybe down the road, but we're not there yet.

With streaming to the edge becoming so popular the Video Control to me is more important for residential needs. Distribution becomes more ideal when you have expensive source components and it makes financial sense to distribute the signal versus buying more hardware.

In a Video over IP solution, how do you change sources on the various TVs? Do the possible solutions have in-built methods for source switching?
    Great video(s)

You wouldn’t have manual control on the front of the network switch like you would with a Video Matrix, but you’d be using an app or universal remote like Control4 or voice control.
Any source plugged into the Video over IP solution would play to any of the TVs in the system. So in your app you’d have an easy option to select a source, and say what tv you want that source playing to

And does this include to multiple TVs simultaneously? For example, your Dish network box is able to be viewed in the master bedroom for one show, while the office is able to watch the basketball game?

    • @Andre8521
      @Andre8521 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@NegroBuenobl Not if it is the same box.. or i assume some boxes may allow for dual channel watching...? (I doubt that - the companies want to make every dollar they can so they usually charge for a box per ROOM- so if you had two boxes (two sources) then you would be able to do what you mentioned above.

Looking at the back of that HDMI Matrix, it looked like it went out via ethernet cabling. That got me thinking about whether/how likely it is, to go with a Matrix, initially, but later upgrade that with the video over IP solution, such as swapping out the Matrix for a Switch, and so on.

I use plex on a nas as my video distribution cheap and Apple TV as my Clint. Easy

I would not wast my money on video distribution at all. A Apple TV is easy to hide behind the tv.
