it's easy to dismiss these stories. but they are told with mastery using everyday language. 'i could have done that!' someone might say. but good storytellers are rare. the setting: might be a campfire, a bar, but that rare talent doesn't struggle for attention. i have always admired that. with envy.
Missed this last week! Sorry. This is a real gem. The main character, our detective, is kind of an anti-detective. He doesn't start out to do any detective work; he's just there to make his rent. But he's very entertaining. We want to hear the answers to the questions he poses. He is neither a con or a flim-flam, but he is a persuasive salesman. I'd buy one of his books.
Ya don't need an American narrator, you're quite excellent (says a guy from the good ol' USA). And as for your third category, watch "Colombo", in most of which stories we know from the beginning, and watching him figure it out is what makes it fun.
You can incorporate female narrators by including female Mystery/Detective authors. 😉 Christie was best known but not alone. Mary Roberts Rinehart comes to mind as an American author from this 'Golden Age' of Crime Writers.

I enjoyed the story and the reading.
Your narration is superb, and your exposition afterwards is lots of fun. Thank you! Wish I'd found your channel sooner.
I'm glad you're here now.
Another gripping performance. The pace of the delivery and the shape it gave, were perfect.
Well done, Tony! Thanks for the smile.
My pleasure!

A fun wee detective story. Thanks for sharing it with us Tony
Good fun. Took me back to my daily train commute days where I’d either buy a small western or detective pulp magazine for the trip. Thankyou.

Hi Tony! There is hardly any of Catherine Jenkins stories on TH-cam, the ones with the character Loveday! Just feedback LOL!😉
Do you mean Loveday Brooke, the creation of Catherine Louisa Pirkis? You will find several of her stories on Bitesized Audio Classics.
@@YvonneWilson312 Yes 👍 thank you there’s 4 there! I was hoping she wrote more but thank you so much for replying!♥️
Good to know!

Please get rid of the Trump commercial. 😞
I immediately stopped watching. That should help. 😢
