    ABSOLUTELY the most realistic brick tutorial I have found. The use of the sand really added a realistic touch. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing idea. I can't wait to give it a try.

    I am really loving the fact that you use dollar tree products, they are pretty universal and I love when I can get things from there for projects.
    As far as related to this video content you are making me second guess one of my planned projects. I have a metal wall shelf from hobby lobby that looks like a fire escape that I plan on using to display some of my 1/6 scale and smaller figures and dolls. I was wanting to make a brick wall to put up on the wall bend it, and I was planning to do it watercolored(new skill for me, I still need to try different techniques on some test paper) BUT NOW, I'm kind of tempted to make a brick wall like you have here. I would basically end up doing nearly a full sheet of foam board for it so that would still be a lot of work. Especially since if u want add any windows I would be forced to make them 3d as well instead of mostly painted with balsa wood glued on for the frames. Ugh, I think im going to have make samples of both now.

      I am definitely a frugal crafter and will use cheap supplies whenever possible!!! Be sure to tag me in any photos of your project as I would love to see the outcome! It would be a big undertaking but the texture from this technique is so wonderful!

    Love it! I'm jealous! ☺. In order to avoid the foam board from "warping" (hope you know what I mean), a coat of white Kilz on both sides of the foam board will keep it straight. Great job!

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I will have to try that out sometime :) I have heard amazing things about Kilz.

    This looks amazing. Having seen people cut individual bricks out of foam insulation and glue them on individually, I wonder why they would go to so much effort when this looks so realistic for a fraction of the time.

    So could I do this in sheets and attach it to an inner cardboard wall for my old house? I love love love how this looks. The house I am building is for a guy (whose identity shall be revealed later) who has fallen on hard times and has moved into a once glorious but now quite rundown old home where he agonizes over his writing and lives in near poverty...circa 1840...obviously there'll be no indoor plumbing, no electric power, lots of grunge and grime...I would love to have the exterior look like this!

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Love the story!!! Yes you should be able to attach it to an existing wall but just know you will be thickening the wall quite a bit... if you're ok with that then you're good!

      Unfortunately I didn't film the creating of the floor for this project which I regret. It is very similar to how I did the Conservatory floor in the Addams Mansion however... and when I got to the tiles that were broken I just cut them completely off instead of just scoring. I hope that helps!

    I love the rough look. I think your idea of an abandoned coffee shop is really great because everybody makes them cute or modern. A question, do you know how to fix warped foam boards? I bought mine from Dollartree and when they arrived to Sweden not only had they crushed corners but they also looks like bananas.

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Niva80 thank you so much! Hmmm... my first thought would be to try and warm them up slightly with a dry heat (like with a hair dryer) and then quickly get then underneath something flat and heavyish while they cool down. Just be careful because if it's too hot it could effect the foam. Another thought is to glue poster board to one side and lay it under something flat while the glue dries. Getting smaller pieces flat are easier than larger pieces cut them down if possible before flattening. I hope this is helpful to you.

    • @niva8043
      @niva8043 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks I´ll give it a try :)

    • @L4uR4637
      @L4uR4637 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you paint the backside with the mod podge too it will keep it from warping. If it has warped already you can still fix it by painting on the back, but may need to help it some to lay flat.

    Looks great! How did you managed for the foam board not to bend after applying paint etc? mine always bends even with one layer of paint!

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A good trick for foam board is to paint both sides of the board. If you just paint it on one side then when it dries it will bend and warp. You can also add a layer of matboard on one side and glue the two pieces together under heavy books. Those are the 2 methods I tend to use ;)
