I was inspired with you bench press machine and built one after a week of buying necessary parts and another week of putting your technical directions to work. I couldn't reach your level of finesse and aesthetic outlook, but I am quite satisfied with that. You speak humbly and teach every detail with care which is why I got to like you and your channel much. Keep it up!
My first thought was, “this thing is chinsier than the legs I’m looking to grow.” But you gave me a lot of great ideas. So thank you! I’m going do this with much more bracing, thicker lumber and fabricated metal brackets.
I'm not thrilled by your track system but it's still a decent design. *On the other hand, high reps or doing just 1 leg.* I'm going to build something similar but more compact. Everyone goes so damn big with them.
Sorry, one more question. If you put your foot very high on the top edge of the foot plate, does it still go up smoothly or does it pinch on the bottom square tube and get stuck? Thanks again.
No need to apologise! I love the questions🙂 If you put the extra bit of 2×4 in place then no it won't. Once again that photo I sent you will hopefully clarify things a bit👊
No, not one bit actually! That's why they're on there to act as a guide. You will see it on the photo I sent you. It will make sense🙂 Just make sure to put dry lubricant on machine every so often👍
How did you connect the bar through the centre of the 40mm box section steal? If you put a bolt thru it surely it will interfere with it sliding up and down????
Omg! Your videos are awesome! Tomorrow I'm gonna be doing a bench for lifting weights and it's based on the one you did in a video. I think my next project will be this one, thanks bro. Greetings from Mexico.
Great job. One question how do you attach the pipe to hold the weights to sliding sleeve? On video looks like you drill a hole to hold pipe but how does it slide up and down? Ty
Great question! Held on by 6mm x 100mm bolts. If you install the bolts through the bar and to one side of the 400mm x 40mm steel, this acts as a guide for the rail👍
I’ve no idea how you fix the weight loading bar to the box section so it still slides. On the the video it appears the bolt goes through both sections which would just lock it in place.
I got a question the 30mm and 40mm would that be like 1in and 1 1/2 for the sqaure metal pipes so if I took like a 1in and ran a 1 & 1/2in over it would that work
Hey matt do you know where I can find the galv RHS steel I cant find the exact same length in any store online in poland, Should I buy a bigger one but with the same thickness? and just cut it down later?
@@MattLees-Nunan Thank you matt, but also can you tell me if these measurements at the beginning are in mms or cms? if they are mm measurements, then the leg press is 65cm wide( because the thing you attack the rack for the bar to slide, to, is 63cm wide and the wood for the rack to stand on is like 2cm wide as well, and 2 meters long without counting the bar), also can I put any bar inside of there? I have one already at home, it is like 180cm wide and I can put 100kg on the bar.

Hi Tamara! So the 40mm bit of metal which slides over the 30mm bit of metal has 2 x 6mm x 65mm bolts attatching it to one side. Let me know if this helps🙂
Matt great channel great information I am going to build your leg press machine but I do have A question how did you connect the bar which holds the weights to the larger diameter square that slides up and down did you weld a piece in place or did you use a mechanical connection thank you
Wow! this is a beautifully elegant design and very close to what I want to build. Thanks so much for posting. I too am having trouble visualizing the cross bar connection to the sliders. Could you send a photo to Bosam53@sbcglobal.net? Also in the video at 5:14 there appears to be another bolt through the crossbar outside of the rail. Can you explain? Thanks so much, Sam
