  • Walk along with me on a special "behind the scenes" tour of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. This is the longest suspension bridge in the world with a total span of 2.43 miles. This tour takes us to the top of one of the suspension towers for a birds eye view of the bridge and surrounding area. Not for those afraid of heights!

This beautiful bridge, together with France's Millau Viaduct, have to be two of the Wonders of the Modern World. We could see this bridge as we hurtled through Kobe on the Shinkansen. Fortunately, I knew it would be visible from the train; and so was able to point it out to my partner. Thank you so much fo this post of your wonderful tour.

I think that every single person that visits this bridge or other bridges in Japan ( which are technologically speaking some genuine steel and concrete jewels - because everyone knows that Japan is a world leader in bridges engineering - ), so, every person that visits these bridges is extremely lucky. The Universe is granting a huge favour to these people and some of them are not quite conscious about that. I would be absolutely attentive/alert to every detail, kind of "only eyes and ears" to everything. I wouldn't pay any damn attention to my mobil or iPad or whatever. Nevertheless, some people... 0:35 , 1:26 , 3:30 , 3:35 and so on.
Through my comment I don't want to offend or to hurt anyone. Not at all! I'm just sad, because I know I would definitely behave differently, but I have no possibilities to go abroad, especially in Japan. Thank you for this virtual tour!

Thank you for watching. The tours are by advanced group reservations only, I went as part of a group arranged by one of my staff. Not sure about bike access across but I would think they'd have a lane for that, and a price too.
