As a student and writer of Chinese for over 30 years, Jhumpa's experience makes me feel liberated to pursue something in my adopted language that perhaps would never have been possible or even imaginable in my native tongue. Brava!

I'm reading this book in Italian right now and I absolutely love it! I'm advance in Italian, but still learning it. She is really helping me to improve the way I express myself in Italian.

I was extremely Jubilant when she was awarded " The Putlizer Award for her " Brilliant Wrtings " . It gladdens me to see her being " a Linguistic " who knows also the Spanish language. She is really a Blend of multiplesvirtues
to learn many European languages admirably. It certainly prompts me to exhort her for these Marvellous Achievements, for which she had to burn mid night oil for many years at a stretch.

What is Italy in a traditional and conventional way? Art and food? Life can't be only made of it and for italians art and food are taken for granted, expected instead from a foreigner. Jhumpa is a writer and her major concern is literature itself, like italian writers that don't write only about art and food in a "trad.

I am disappointed that she chose, seemingly deliberately not to mention her race when she was othered. So her husband who can “pass” for Italian is treated respectfully but as a South Asian scholar her effort and her race was negated. Why? Why? Why?

It’s nothing that she deliberately hides, she writes and talks about it regularly
