    I guess the next step is teaching our youth good dietary habits. Its a shame our Food and Drug Administration has married the pharmaceutical corporations, and corporations like General Mills.

    In my knowledge that ketosis arise because of deficiency of oxaloacetate. Also, ketone bodies in brain and muscles need to be converted to acetyl coA and merged with oxaloacetate. Question from where do we get the oxaloacetate in order to start krebs cycle.

    • @1983Billb

      Because its a very unnatural way to fuel your body, ketones are very acidic. Humans running on ketones is like running a diesel race car on chip fat - it will work but will damage the internals of the engine and smell funny ( just like keto breath ;) )

    Can you do the ketogenic diet with no gallbladder?

    • @VirtaHealth
      @VirtaHealth  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your gallbladder served as the storage unit for bile but your liver continues to produce bile even after your gallbladder has been removed. When you eat foods that contain fat, your body senses it and releases bile to help you absorb it. There can be an adjustment period when increasing fat intake, since your liver needs to make more bile to digest the increase in fat, but we have a number of patients on Virta that have been successful!

    Hi Sarah what to do if ketones are 7.8 and over?

    • @kicknadeadcat
      @kicknadeadcat 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lower your fat intake. Maybe about 30% from what you eat now. Excess key tones in your system are all the leftovers of what your body cannot burn, or does not burn because it doesn’t know yet what to do with them efficiently. . You can also do more anaerobic exercise meaning lifting weights. When I first started keto I noticed I was in the 4 to 8 range almost all the time. But after heavy exercise they would go down closer to one. I’ve been ketogenic for a year and a half and I am between .5 and .8 almost all the time. Which means my body is using them as fuel rather than spilling them out in my urine or my breath. If you’ve just started keto I wouldn’t worry at all about it your body is just adjusting. If Do you have been doing keto long time, then like I said either lower your fat some or increase exercise. Hope this helps.

    This needs to be pointed out as Dr. Gundry mentioned in a recent interview that he would see the actual calcification on the outside of the artery, and then, often see the plaque on the inside of the artery a few inches away. This needs to be corrected sooner rather than later. He has done over 10,000 heart surgeries so this is his specialty. He says that he is recommending a medicare approved procedure called a CT coronary angiogram, a relatively new procedure. A lot of people are getting these two things confused and I pointed this out on a Ivor Cummins recent post.
    You both are making enormous contributions to our health, but these kind of mishaps need to be addressed. Here is a link to the AHA web page with links to 13 of his publications in that journal.

    Here is a link to his twelve year followup of the 978 patients with previous heart problems:

    Hi. Is a high-fat diet not harmful for someone who has blood fat in addition to sugar?

    • @EthanE3
      @EthanE3 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fat is energy. Glucose is energy. If you want to use Fat for energy you need to not eat carbohydrates. Eating high fat AND carbohydrates is eating too much energy. It makes your body story fats and disrupts your lipid profile

    I love this video, and I am looking for a doctor in my area who would essentially do what it is that you do for your patients. Do you have any suggestions on how I can narrow my search? I think I am doing well on my own as I was pretty close to being a diabetic when I started doing keto a year ago. I have made so much progress in this time but wonder how much easier and cost effective it would have been if I had a real clinic/doctor helping along the way.

    • @1983Billb

      Mario Rodriguez I think I'll stick with my first reply, I said what I meant and meant what I said. Unless someone can point me towards the evidence to disprove what is now commonly accepted even by keto advocates then I will stick to what I know. Keto pushers used the Inuits for decades as the shining example of health for anyone that wants a high meat diet. Only that's a load of crap. There is no evidence to suggest Inuits were healthier than people eating the SAD and plenty to suggest that even without processed meats they were some of the unhealthiest people on the planet.
      Why would you ever believe that it's more efficient to run a machine on the wrong fuel type?!

    • @MarioRodriguez-gv9km

      I think the carbs have completely blocked any brain function in you. Everything you say is easily disproven. You can't have a conversation with someone who isn't capable of learning. good day to you

    • @1983Billb

      Mario Rodriguez Or you are someone who likes bacon and love the fact that this diet allows you to eat it so you will blindly follow. Carbs are fuel, fat is not. Glycogen good, acidic keytones bad. Not a difficult thing to understand. Keto may have positive effects for certain conditions but as a standard diet it makes no sense as it is known to cause many other complications. I

    • @MarioRodriguez-gv9km
      @MarioRodriguez-gv9km 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No, I'm someone who got type 2 diabetes at a reasonable weight that reversed it with keto after trying what doctors told me to do, taking metformin and 2 types of insulin which made me gain weight and failing with A1c's in the 10-11 range. After careful study I taught myself the truth about diet and now have an A1c of 5.4 and healthier than I was when I boxed for a living.
      You can say whatever you like but I think I will stick to what actually works. Buhbye now
