    To be able to call in a bear and than shoot it is the ultimate predator hunt,so cool! You are a real woodsman. You inspired me to give it a try

    🍻 Calling by yourself is an interesting endeavor, and I'm glad you're able to hear the bear circling you.

    Great video. Thanks for sharing. The heart is always my favorite from any animal. Its the first thing we eat after a harvest or sucessful hunt.

    Salt those cracklins (fat) and they'll be a lot better, we used to do it with a fresh farm hog kill. Pretty cool hunt. Thanks for sharing.

      It's definitely a different feeling having a bear walk by you over a deer!

    Do you hunt western MA exclusively?
    Don't love there anymore but I could point out a couple great spots to do this type of hunt.
    Nice work out there. Good luck this year.

      Not exclusively. For bear, yes, but most else I hunt the eastern side of the state.

    How long do you call for?

    • @FieldandStew
      @FieldandStew  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'll call for a minute or so, then sit and wait for 15-20 minutes

    How long were you calling per session and how long between sessions?

    • @FieldandStew
      @FieldandStew  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Each session would be only like 30 seconds to a minute, and after I'd call, I'd sit in the spot for 20 minutes before either repeating or moving to a different spot.

    so would you describe the sounds like a doe bleat??

    • @FieldandStew
      @FieldandStew  ปีที่แล้ว

      More like a fawn bleat. I switch between the fawn bleat (slower version) and the hare in distress (rapid pace).

    Good stuff! I never expected a bear call to sound like that, is that to mimick a baby bear or its prey?

    • @FieldandStew
      @FieldandStew  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's to sound like it's prey. Either a deer fawn (the slower, more sporadic calling like in the video), or the higher pitched/rapid calling to sound like a jackrabbit (or hare around there).

    I set out to try an bet my first nkack bear this evening, i guess it was beginers luck because i picked the oerfect spot. He came into a corn feild an i could hear him ripping down corn stalks. I ened up within 10 yards of him an could not wpot him. I ended up calling out hey bear trying to make him standup an he ended up running the other way through the corn but let me you if not for a whisker biscuit my arrow wouldve been dancing, between excitement an shear fear there is no better adrenaline rush. I felt like a 16 year old about to get his first piece 😂

    Its says PREDATOR call ? what predator makes that noise ????

    • @FieldandStew
      @FieldandStew  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Predator call refers to calls that call in predators. It's a jackrabbit/fawn distress call.

    • @ammoiscurrency5706
      @ammoiscurrency5706 ปีที่แล้ว

      The most dangerous predator! MAN
      All joking aside predator calls are either food (wounded animal or lost young) or social (coyote howl/yips) so some predator calls sound like predators but MOST sound like a wounded or scared prey species

    Beive a berkshires native. Botn and raised. You 100% can be picky with bears. Please stop shooting our small bears and give them the opportunity to grow. You 100% can shoot 300lbs plus with color phase, white patches ect.

    • @FieldandStew
      @FieldandStew  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wish I lived out there. Then I'd have time to be more picky, but when I only had 2 days to hunt, and I want bear meat, I'm not going to be picky. As long as it isn't a mother with cubs, I'm happy with it. There's plenty of bears in the Berkshires to go around.
