  • How to remove bugs from a car, the EASY WAY! In this video, I show you how to remove bugs and bug guts from your car’s paint (bumper, plastics, headlights) and how to remove bugs from your windshield in a simple and easy way. All you need is one product and one microfiber towel!!

    Removing bugs from your car is very important, as the acid content of bug guts can affect the integrity of your paint and possibly etch through the finish if not removed properly.
    In this video, I show you how to use Schaeffer’s CITROL, a biodegradable, heavy-duty, citrus-based degreaser that’s gentle on your car’s paint and safe to use on any exterior surface of your car. Citrol can help remove adhesives, asphalt, wax, grease, rubber marks, oil, scuff marks, tree sap, tar, and more! This is by far the best bug remover I've ever used!

    Citrol is perfect for removing bugs guts because it’s a powerful cleaner but it has lots of lubrication so it won’t scratch your paint. Simply spray on the panel (never under direct sunlight!) and let it dwell for 30 seconds. Then, using a soft microfiber towel, gently rub the paint to remove the bugs and bug guts.
    Once you’re done, simply rinse off with water and you can wash your car. I recommend adding a layer of wax or paint sealant at the end, to protect the paint and make bug removal easier in the future.

    Cirtol 266 us NOT safe for clear coat. However, you can use it on your car but you must use it properly to protect the clear coat. Don't spray it directly on the paint. Spray it on a wet towel, which dilutes it, then rub gently to remove bugs. Do a small area then wash with soap and rinse immediately. This is a very powerful product that can damage your car.

      I had same issue with tons of lovebugs and wanted to prevent them from getting baked on. Real simple. Got a can of Scubbin Bubbles, sprayed it on (dind let it dry, hosed then right off with barely any pressure) did the same with side mirrors, not a trace of bug guts or anything. I think all these bug &tar removers are just hype. I tried many of them and they are not that great. Just make sure you lay down some quality wax after you wash that way the bug acid wont penetrate that much and wash off ASAP.
      But yeah, Scrubbin Bubbles works 100%, no pain damage and no waiting.

    • @jamesd493
      @jamesd493 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamesd493 No problem, glad I could help. I used to get the expensive products as well, but when one day I ran out all I had was teh scrubbin bubbles. Amazing it worked and I use it on Porsche paint which is notorious for swirling and marring at the slightest thing. No paint fade,bugs just slide right off and I am talking about bugs so thick and heavy the bumper looks black and so does the side mirrors. I would rather spend the extra money on extreme high quality wax so the acid from the bugs cant do any damage and it buys you some time to spray it off. Try it once and I swear you will never buy "special magic overpriced crap" bug remover again. Coem back on here and let me know how it worked when you get a min.

    • @jensz9360
      @jensz9360 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jamesd493 Another benefit of using the SB is that if you spray it on the aluminum fins of radiator where sometimes bugs get so thick they can cause overheating they wash right off and leave radiator looking new without bending the fins like scrubbing would. So spray it into the opening in any grill you have on your car and hose it off.

    I have been using this product for years and on just about everything. Just recently purchased a dirty 2005 mini Cooper S,. I immediately went to the citrol for cleaning under the hood then started with strut towers.. unfortunately and immediately red paint was coming off of the car. Dave proceeded to just rub down the area with my fingers and as I did so it removed all of the paint on the strut towers. Rinsed off the areas as quickly as I could with no other harm done anywhere. This is the firstTime I have ever had a bad experience with this product, but I am pretty sure mini is to blame as there is obviously no clearcoat in the engine bay.?
    I still strongly recommend this stuff it has saved me from many things including stains in the carpet inside the home, and various around the house cleaning tasks.

    Hi Pan! I dug deep to find this Citrol recommendation from you on removing bug guts, etc. With it being over 4 years old, do you still find that with new product introductions from various mfgr's that it is a reasonable solution for this application. If not, what do you find is today's current "go to" ? Question 2 is how does Citrol play with PPF ? PPF was not exactly new 4 yrs ago, but was starting to expand sales exponentially about then. Something we may need to consider in todays' current environment. I love your common product reviews as the items usually stand the test of time and are easy on the pocketbook. When rubbing the paint with the microfiber cloth, wouldn’t you want to rub in straight lines to make sure there are no scratches left behind? I’ve heard rubbing in straight lines instead of a circular rotation will prevent the paint from having swirl marks.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're not really rubbing, you're barely skimming the surface... the product has lots of lubrication, so its of no real concern. Of course, you can always pre-wash the area using the safe wash method, then dry the panel, and then use Citrol if you want to make sure you don't leave microscratches...

      The majority of strong chemicals will start to break down regular sealants and waxes. Only ceramic coatings can resist those.

    I prefer to foam the car and rinse off with pressure washer, which will take care of most bugs by itself. Then use waterless wash or detail spray to remove remaining bugs, which really won't be much.
    I think that is the safest way to do it to prevent scratching the clearcoat, and of course your wax, sealant, etc will remain

    I used to work for a janitorial supply company as their repair tech. Often citrus based cleaners use the chemical D'limonen(spelling). This gives it the citrus scent. Unfortunately its fumes also destroy Neoprene. Door and window seals, and possibly engine seals. You might want to make sure it isn't in this Citrol.

    BEWARE!!!!! I have a Toyota Highlander, and the Citrol worked perfectly on the clear-coated front end, removing dried bugs and tar. BUT.............I had a small amount of overspray onto the matte black plastic trim. on the grill. The Citrol ate right through the black paint to the silver undercoat, so what I have is a smeared black-silver area on the trim. Terrible. What I suggest is that, when using the sprayer on the can, make certain you mask any black plastic or black-painted trim. Alternatively, instead of spraying the area on the car, spray onto the microfiber towel and then gently rub the area, taking care not to touch the matte-black trim.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. Some do it differently, but usually you would pre-treat the surface with the bug remover, let it dwell for the recommended time, then rinse with the pressure washer. That will have softened the bug guts and removed a good portion of them, to make the contact wash much easier.
      You can see how I do that process as part of the overall car wash process in this video: th-cam.com/video/KEAfc_LUO4E/w-d-xo.html

    Hi, I was wondering does the Citrol 266 can cause any damage or removal of existing compounds and sealants that have already been applied of used to remove bugs and do you think it's a better product than P&S Bug Off?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a much older video. Citrol 266 is super powerful and yes could start breaking down waxes, sealants and even ceramic coatings.
      Dedicated bug removers, like in my latest updated bug removal tutorial, are much safer. No problem on ceramic coatings, but bug removers can potentially weaken regular waxes, as waxes aren't super chemically resistant. If you see diminished water beading after using a bug remover, simply reapply a layer of wax.
