I can never forget a workshop done by this phenomenal woman in Jamaica. She took an hour out of her busy schedule to encourage and motivate us to pursue our destiny. One of the things she said never left me. She said you better learn to deal with rejection. "I was told I am too loud, too quiet, too dark, too light-skined to be black, too skinny, too fat, don't sound like a black person, too ethnic; all in one day". Her life accomplishments are a testimony of thriving in the face of countless oppositions.
OMG! She is 67 yrs old! Hell no!! She looks like she is in her late 30's. Amazingly, incredibly unbelievably beautiful.
Now you know why Diana didn't win a Grammy or the Oscar. She was destroying the status quo and breaking down barriers for people like Sheryl, Miss Ivy's beautiful and talented daughter.

It doesn’t matter who’s in charge, even blacks choose lighter skin over dark, in every culture the lighter skinned ones get the most of anything it’s always been like that, spanish tv rarely had National brands advertise now its all i see spanglish is normal and so has colorism just look around the globe if your white you are right, i love all people and this is the trauma that they’ve left us with, its a constant war since the beginning of time and we haven’t learned shit, all we can do is war amongst each other since there’s no common threat to bind us all for the greater good(survival), i mean when an entity foreign to us all is here to annihilate us, will that unite us all what will it take to unite us because one person at a time isn’t cutting it.

This way we can uphold a higher image of ourselves and put out movies that not only inspire, but elevate black women. We don't need men in dresses to imitate an overly dramatic stereotype of bw, or have voiceovers of black women or children done by white voice over artists.... We don't have to adhere to any of society's rules of cinema if these projects are fully funded by bw. It's time to change the narrative and take ownership of our image back. We are talented, beautiful, creative and magical.... We should be showing these lovely parts of us on a consistent basis. Even to the point that we maybe stop acting and writing for these other studios (white/black men), and focus on just ours.

All of the girls began to scream with excitement, raising our hands, and he looked at me, with my hand held to the sky and said, "You could NEVER be Cinderella!" The acidity in his voice, looking at this tall, skinny, chocolate, 5 year old girl, is something that I would never forget. And it's been 40 years 😞. They hate us for things beyond our control.

Patti Labelle said it: "Oh no honey! You're not gonna be ahead of the WW" They stick to European beauty standards. Look at the roles they gave BW: Maid, whore, prostitute, "mean, angry, BW". Women in general are not treated well in movies they want mostly slim young women beyond 25 your lucky you stay in any movie regardless of race.Theres tons of failed actresses an actors.There weight shamed commonly.Look at all the action movies find a women over 30 its going too be 3 or 4 women tops.The older men allways paired with younger women.There treated the same as models diets don't get fat.
