Great points! Something that helps me keep some perspective when this happens: Unionizing can feel like a full time job on top of the full time job you already have. A lot of people can take on that level of high engagement for a short amount of time, but it's simply not sustainable for them long term. Part of why they're unionizing is because they don't want to be in crisis mode 24/7.
So during the slower/calmer times, it really is up to the stewards to be that steady consistent attendee to keep things cruising smoothly. You're saving the rest of the group burnout and boredom. Imo, they'll show up when the next wave hits.

Great addition to the conversation Tahlia, thanks for that.

I’m in this predicament as we speak. Our members feel defeated and powerless that’s why they don’t go.

Would recommend reading Labor Notes book: Democracy is Power. It's about rebuilding ineffective unions.

I'm wanting to turn things around for the better in my location of work. I'm a shop steward. I am learning a lot this month ♡ I was advised by a wiser person to get in contact with the othrr shop stewards close to my area. Might create a group chat lol

Exciting!!! Shop stewards are an incredibly important role in unions, and difficult and sometimes thankless. So we appreciate your willingness to serve.
Would welcome you calling in and talking about your experience, or leaving us a voicemail at 844-899-TVLR.
We also highly recommend LaborNotes as a source of information and training. Labornotes.org

@TheValleyLaborReport Yeah, I could call in soon . I just feel like I don't know enough yet to share my experience. It's only been 3 weeks.
