The Qatar World Cup has provoked strong and sometimes conflicting, reactions in many people.
In this series of videos, written by James Montague and illustrated by Alice Devine, Tifo explains why the World Cup in the Gulf State is so controversial.
How did Qatar get into a position to be able to host a World Cup? What is the history of Qatar? Why did the country want this tournament?
This episode begins in 1990 with three seemingly unconnected events: The publication of the Taylor Report, the independence of Lithuania, and the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq.

As a professor of International relations I want to congratulate you for presenting historical facts with exquisite simplicity.....It was honest and direct....Some may see it as history oversimplified. But given the time and the space, you have produced an excellent documentary.

Fascinating to reflect that the Hillsborough disaster led to the modernisation of football grounds, while the Heysel disaster catalysed the formation of the Premier League (as a result of the European ban that was imposed on English clubs).
This still smells of sponsored content, PR and Arab Gulf state sports washing.

I know the guy who did Australia's bid at the bidding ceremony. He told me that ten different countries had promised they had voted for him, but when the results came in, he had only 1 vote. On top of that, the Qatari royal family had been invited to the bidding, and it was clear to everyone that FIFA wouldn't have invited them if Qatar was going to lose.
why did the other ten countries wanted to bid for Australia to begin with?

I think with this video Tifo has shown that they are definitely capable of doing other content that is unrelated to football. History and general story telling might be a great option.

Which are not directly related to football however affected this topic about football. Which shows us they are capable of doing stuff unrelated to Football

You can tell Tifo is run by professional (sports) journalists than have skills to do deep research and have broad knowledge
