    it doesn't really matter, but it's a lot easier and less likely to cause damage by wiggling it left and right if you just use a sewing needle to lever the little latches on the APU shield outwards. Then the shield comes off extremely easily without the need to wiggle it and bend it.

    • @sasuke65743

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC ปีที่แล้ว +4

    as someone who installed the hwfly into an oled switch, this process is not for the faint of heart. it is soo easy to totally destroy the switch. though i will say you did a very poor job trimming that shield, in fact with some vibration i suspect the sharp edges you left will cut through the ribbon cable. Need to get some better diagonal cutter and file down those cut edges. Also at least for the hwfly you can solder extra connections to update it through the switche's usb port and i guess you either didn't do it or that chip doesn't come with that option. Also you don't need to re-flow the mmc it just introduced a risk you break something even more. Not sure it'll work with that adapter but you can put them under spring tension for just as good of a connection.

    • @FexiSponge
      @FexiSponge ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can't speak for him but I usually use 600f to solder and 700f to desolder. You don't use the flex cables because it can cause interference with sysnand which is the official one. Though the newer ones are finding ways to use flex cables while not interfering. Lastly I wanna mention that they also are starting to not recommend reflowing the dat0 adapter. Apparently the chip can be damaged a bit after heating up, even if going slowly which has a higher failure rate than using friction

    Do you do repairs?
    I’ve got two Switches but one is knackered due to the left joycon rail connection burning itself out (had literal orange glow and small amount of smoke) and no long works since I’ve reformatted it as the switch expects the joycons installed at first boot up.
    My other switch which is my replacement switch works fine but the joycons don’t work when slid into the rails (the switch detects it and charges them but I believe the left rail is dodgy)

    I've got to ask, with this being a newer video from your other OLED install, why did you reflow it vs doing a friction install? I thought that friction was the recommended way now

  • @DimitriFromBelgium

    Thank you for this clear explanation. I will try to make it myself. But which wire do you use exactly?

    • @REALfreaky
      @REALfreaky ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most people use very tiny insulated wires known as "magnet wire". The insulation melts off at high heat so it makes a fine connection when soldered.

    could be wrong but isnt apu just a branding thing amd does? i think its called soc or system on chip?

    • @OtakuSanel
      @OtakuSanel ปีที่แล้ว

      no, it means a very specific thing. soc is system on chip which includes everything from the cpu, io functions, ram, etc... in other words you dont' need any other supporting chips for a system to work it can do everything it needs by itself. in amd's case apu is for cpu+gpu (notice how it's missing the RAM?) Granted has cpus with integrated graphics so in comparison you could call amd's apus a marketing term but the reason they call them that is because the graphics on apu's is way way better than typical integrated graphics but they aren't SOCs like what's inside the switch or phones.
