Thank you...looks like you had to fix your handle at the 10 year mark. I'm at the 10 year mark but my kiddos broke it at the 6 year mark and I'm finally fixing it! But I'm the mom and we will see how this goes. woo!
2004 GMC Savana. Thank you very much for the video. If you are wondering if you did anything worthwhile today, the answer is YES! You saved a fellow human a lot of time and aggravation and I am grateful. Cheers.
I can't thank 6ou enough for going to the trouble to make this video. I have just finished replacing the door handle, and it was a bit less of a chore because I was able to refer to the video several times as I worked. Pretty sure I would have broke something, or maybe destroyed the retainer clip at the back of the lock, had I not been able to 'look over your shoulder'.
Thanks Jason. I’ve done lots of different door handles but learning from someone else’s mistakes is the best and saves a lot of time and pain. Kids interrupting is awesome too.
This video helped me get the job done. Thanks a lot man. Here is some advice for anyone else in the same situation. Take the handle off first and check where the key cylinder goes inside. I ordered a new handle from Amazon and the key port did not fit. The van had to sit for a few days "either that or put everything back together" and then I was able to purchase and install the correct part. Cheers!
At 3:00, that clip that pops out, despite his warning, I lost mine and never recovered it.It's Chevy Part #10270450 GM parts says it's 96-02, but the dealer sold it to me for my 2020, and it fits.
2002 version basically the same. After watching your video all the way through, it was clear enough to perform the task without complications. Thank you for creating this video.
Thanks for this video. It was a big help on my 2014 Express 3500. I was able to get the job done without breaking anything. :) One lesson I learned was not make sure I adjusted the timing on my lockout outside with the inside lock.
Thank you again o much for posting this video. I just did it on my van, it took me about an hour and a bit to do it. I don't know how there could be dislikes for this video. I would have lost my patience and broke more than I would have fixed if I had not seen is.
Tip : After you install the new door handle and the holding bracket. Install the latch/lock mechanism with only one screw and do not tighten it. This method leaves the mechanism a little loose to maneuver your hand in back when setting in both rods. You should be using a quality flashlight to see the reveling holes for the rods.
Great video, but took me forever because I lost the clip that holds the key lock in place. I should have listened when you said to have something underneath just in case it fell. It took me a long time to find it, but luckily I did. The bracket was not easy to put in either. In any case, I finally replaced it...yay. Thank you for your vid.
2012 GMC van slide door broken, your video is showing exactly my problem . too bad can't see how you do it inside when put it back on. but i think i can figure it out. thank you .
Just change one today again , about two per year now . is there any after market handle made of metal out there ? I just keep the whole plastic panel out now and cut a rectangular hole about 3" by 4 " above the lock for easier access .
I am struggling with mine. Gonna try again tomorrow and will be cutting an access hole as you described. Can’t believe the design of this thing. So difficult.
Informative and useful video. May I make a suggestion, the term is "Standard or SAE" not "English" I am sure that I am not the only one to laugh at the terminology used
My exterior handle has been broken for years-no problem we just reach in and open in from the inside. Until this week, when something came loose and now it won't open at all. Since I have to take the panels off anyway, I ordered a new handle and with the help of your video hope to have it installed by tomorrow afternoon
Thanks for the info. Some jerk wad tried to punch out my door locks on the sliding door and passenger front door. I had a repair shop make a temporary repair on the sliding door by replacing that part that you did but the interior portion was beyond repair so I just use the remote to open and lock the doors. Now it has developed an annoying rattle while I drive and I think it's coming from the sliding door so will have to investigate that soon. Anyone who tries to break into someone else's vehicle should be given a free one way ticket to a foreign desert of their choice. Sorry, I'm just angry.
Man you really need to show putting it back together better. Taking it apart was fine and easy but at the end trying to get those stupid pins back in their right. Ended up costing me 3 hours trying to figure out how to do it and get it in there. The end of the video explanation is highly lacking anyway I gave it a thumbs-up I watched it about five times so you got some kind of Revenue off me but I advise a revision or some kind of update to it I don't know
GM makes some serious junk. I don't know how many trucks i have seen with a broken tailgate handle. Probably the same crap design. Otherwise have you had any other issues?
Yeah, we have had a few problem. Most of the interior paneling is falling off or has broken. All of the vent covers have fallen off on the inside. The right tail light is being held on by glue and tape. The engine is in pretty good shape, though, for having about 170K miles on it.
"Put something down so you don't lose the clip" "Yeah right that's nerd shit" .....then I spent 20 minutes looking for the clip that fucked off into outer space
This video tells me 110,100 people have had trouble with their Chevy van!! Thanks for posting!! Very helpful
Once I understood how the mechanism worked it was smooth sailing. Your video helped me get there fairly quickly. Thanks!

This is much more helpful than the other videos out there. Thank you for explaining the different mechanisms so that we know what we’re looking at🤝
2004 GMC Savana. Thank you very much for the video. If you are wondering if you did anything worthwhile today, the answer is YES! You saved a fellow human a lot of time and aggravation and I am grateful. Cheers.
Thanks a million. Just bought a van with a busted handle and this was just what I needed. From the Finger Lakes of NY state
Your video help me a lot when I had to replace the handle my self, THANKS a lot

Good advice!
Worked like a charm for my 1998 GMC Savana, Saved me alot of time and MONEY!!!!! paid $14.00 for part on ebay. Thanks a Million
same instructions worked on my 2013 3500 Express....patience is a must, 1.5 hours start to finish

its amazing to see the difference in repairability with different brands. The Ford Transit is a 5-min job while this one can be over hour long.
Thanks for the tips I just did mine, it took about and hour or so. Good to see what I was getting into ahead of time.
Thanks for this video. It was a big help on my 2014 Express 3500. I was able to get the job done without breaking anything. :) One lesson I learned was not make sure I adjusted the timing on my lockout outside with the inside lock.
Great video. I have a Chevy Express 2500 and this was such a help. Had the new handle installed in about one hour or so.
Replaced one in a "06" van the other day and the video was a big help too! Thanx for posting it!
Thank you for making this video..was able to do the job in 15 minutes
Urs was the first one I saw and it was very helpful thank you for this video
Great video. Lots of help. Just followed along to your post and finished up. Thanks
Thank you for posting. I could have not done it without your video.

Thanks, very, very much! Did this in 35° rain & snow! Would've taken forever without your help! Cheers!

Awesome video. Helped me replace my 2016 handle. Takes T27 Torx rather than T30. But very informative. Mahalo
I have a 2017 Chevy express cargo van and can't seem to find a replaced handle to replace the broken one.
Thank you very much for taking the time to make that video. It was very helpful!

I need to do this by my door won’t open. Ima give it a try today, see if I can pull off the plastic door cover.
Thanks for the video. I may not have tackled this job otherwise.
Is the sliding door replacement part the same part as for the non sliding passenger side door?
Thanks. Helped me replace that handle in my cargo van without any damage.
THANK YOU!!!! I hate taking these things apart. Huge help man!!!
Thank you! For once I didn't end up with more parts than I started and it looks great

This is a great video. It helped me out and also saved me money. Plus I’m a do it your selfer. I enjoy doing it and don’t like to break things👍🏽
auto manufacturer want to save 50 cents , then end up cost us $30+ and 2 hours of our life to fix it .
Thanks bud! I’m doing the very same job this weekend and this video was very helpful 😁👍🏼
Great video, this is gonna save me a ton of time.
Many thanks for this. I appreciate you taking the time and trouble to make this video.

Great video, helped me a lot! Thank you
Thanks! You're right...the other videos I saw weren't helpful.
You are AWESOME!!!!!!! This video helped me to replace my handle... Thank you very much!!
Thanks. I actually had to use it myself to tighten the handle last week.
thanks very much for the video i have one question how long it take you to do the replacement

Aww man . Was just going to replace mine but after watching this video I'm not sure I want to bother lol.
make sure that lock will fit.. apparently there are two options available. round cylinder with either one or 2 notches

@@priestyboys2769 Those interior problems you have had - did that just come from hard use?
Was not helping at all. I wish we could see everything that was done from the inside

"Yeah right that's nerd shit"

This is BullSh$&!!! Not your instructions!! They are pretty good! Busted Knuckles lost pieces!! Grrrrrr! Not a walk in the park for sure. Lol
