    Obviously you don’t just milk cows. There is a lot to being a dairy farmer. I never realized. Thank you. Without you the stores would be empty. Bless you and your family.

    Yes. Take them to market. A friend from our church Bible Study lost her father to a bull that had never been a problem. Her father went to move a bull to a different corral. It was dark out. He never returned. Someone from the family went to look. They found Marty's father dead. The bull had turned on her father. The bull did a number on her father. It was a sad time for the farm family.

      At the farm where my dad worked they had a fresian bull not to be trusted he always took his dog with him when moving the cattle. She only had 3 legs but was one of the best cattle dogs for miles and saved my dad's life loads of times.

    Had a bull starting to turn nasty and planned to ship him out but hated too because of his blood lines. We got his replacement and put him in the herd along with the old bull. After a couple days with the new bull becoming the new king Bull. The old bull mellowed out and was still doing his job with the ladies. They only fought once afterwards with the old bull losing to the new bull again. We actually seen our conception rate rise with 2 bulls. Kept both for 2 more years until we started breeding their heifers back.

      Yeah I thought he’d mellow with the other one, they have for us in the past, but this guy was just always on edge

    Thanks for another great video Kip.
    It was interesting and enjoyable.
    Glad you took that bull to market and got him out of your place. He had your cornered a couple of times so time for him to go bye bye. Good decision Kip!!!!!
    Those bulls can be very dangerous.
    At least you figured
    Out how your current bull got out of the pen. Easy fix on that one. Good going Kip finding those bent up boards.
    Your silo unloader travel wheel really was chewed up. Those unloaders are really labor intensive as you know. You got that one fixed easily.
    You about got the top on your silage wagon. Soon will have that fixed the way you want it. Nice idea Kip.
    About it I guess. Nice weather you are having. You all take care and be safe. Thanks for everything Kip.

    Those weeping cherries attract honey bees, when in bloom.....although very docile ( not like yellow jackets), be careful with Grant plaing with the little excavator near the one.

    Tks for sharing Kip.. how's the weather up north? Down here by Belding is really turned around. Nice warm sunny day. Never seen a chip can like that. I can only remember the New Eera chip can.. cant never trust no bull period... never. I worked for a farm with 3 groups of milking cows. Had a bull in each group. The one in the high group almost killed one guy.. not no joke neither.. busted him so bad he never worked again.. that was a dark cloudy time..

    • @ronaldfeuerstein435
      @ronaldfeuerstein435 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @user-tc3ou6sy5f No not that one.. He was always kinda kept to himself. When you went to get the cows for chores he just went with them or just layed put in the pasture. Then just that one day he went loco. Never was a problem

    • @user-tc3ou6sy5f
      @user-tc3ou6sy5f 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@ronaldfeuerstein435 So the question is....why didnt the bull have a chain and ring installed ? Even if he showed no signs of being nasty ? You do know that if a person puts their fingers in the bulls nose and squeeze tight....you could lead him around ? Same as in the wild.. lions often grab the buffalo by the nose. Total control !

    Kip, i am curious about your waterers. Yes, i know you mention in a previous video that your dad pick some flat top bulk tanks up at an auction(s).
    What I'm curious about is what type of float/gooseneck system you have and what do you use as a heater so the gooseneck doesn't freeze?
    Most of our waterers are the Ritchie brand, my dad was happy to find some with the stainless drink cups again being we're use to or trust that heater except for the electric meter

  • @user-tc3ou6sy5f

    With a thin ring.... either they breck the ring or tear their nose out. At least a 3/8 inch diameter ring works best. Caution .......with a short chain the bull can learn to toss the chain over its head....and your bait again ! Most times.....nothing less then 4 foot works best.

    Question ? Why not install a ring and chain in the bulls nose ????? Ive milked cows for 45 years...... always used Holstein bulls. After the bull reached 1000 pounds the bull had a ring installed in his nose. ( the thickest ring you can buy). If at any time the bull showed any grumpy or mean signs we attached a 4 foot chain to the ring....... if he still continued being nasty we installed an 8 foot long chain. Last resort...attached a " window " weight to the end of the chain. Normally each measure resolved any issues !
    Farmer always say the bull cant do his job....... huh.......right ..... never seen that on my farm ! The same bull could still run at least 15 miles per hour bringing them home from pasture. No signs of impairment there !

    Hey that silo is overdue for relining. Contact your silo company . They'll have a company that will plaster the inside wall of the silo. Not crazy expensive. It'll make the inside like new. The feed won't freeze as tight to the walls in winter. Keeps air leakage from going through the walls. Better feed.
