This synthesizer was used on the first two Roots Manuva albums. Anything with SH101 on the bass, it's this wonderful thing with an Akai s1000 and with those three rigs he did all his work, but wasp gave all those acid and informal sounds to his 90s and 2000s hip hop instrumentals.
Forgive me if this was mentioned and I missed it, but it's a copy of the Jasper clone rather than the Wasp itself and hence doesn't sound quite the same as an original. The additional features - enhanced waveforms copied from the Gnat, notch filter, and drone switch - are all from the Jasper.
Great video thanks. Tend to agree on the limitations of the Wasp but for some reason I keep coming back to it. It has such a gritty sound and that filter!! Also the bass from it rivals the behringer model d imo.
Although they are now a big company Uli Berhinger started the company from nothing. He actually started making his own synths in University for himself and then for friends. As a business you either grow or remain stagnant.
@@frostfried What do you actually know about the company,I have been buying their products for over twenty years. They actually have a conglomerate of companies. They have bought out many companies through shrewd business moves.
@@PeresD The ripped off the designs of many companies, even down to exactly copying Mackie's PCB, including the errors. They tried to avoid paying FCC registration, sued and lost to the FCC. They are cheats, just play fair. Then they sue and threaten their critics. They've bought out some great companies, only to kill the quality and innovation coming from those companies to use these great engineers for doing simple clones of old gear, what a waste of talent.
These oscillators are quite unique, and information online is confusing. They use a TTL design...and there's lots of misinformation on the internet. Many sites say it's a 2 VCO machine - which it's not. Others say it's hybrid with digital oscillators, analog filter. Behringer themselves say the WASP has 2 digital oscillators.

Black and Orange? Not heard of a black and orange WASP before 😂 As usual a great demo.
I love the sound of this synth. Would love to polychain a few with that notch filter mode in particular.

Thanks for the video. This is my first synth and I got a lot of of this. Cheers.
I was under the impression as mentioned that the cat only did 3 Octaves but i was pleasantly surprised my novation 61key remote sl worked on all keys.
Orange? That's yellow.. either that or Bananas are orange
Sounds like a cross between a TB-303 and Moog
It has a pure analog signal path.
Great review 👍🙏❤️
My PRO-1 plays over a whole 61 keyboard in all octave settings on the VCOs.
I think they've updated the firmware.. Nice to know :)
🎵 BLACK AND YELLOW BLACK AND YELLOW 🎶
Orange you going to call a WASP black and yellow?
As much as I dislike the megacorps, £164 on amazon at the moment.
Scary stinger for peanuts is hard to resist.

@@PeresD was talking about amazon.. ;) I've got so much behringer stuff my studio looks like one of their showrooms.

What are some hit songs which featured the Wasp?
good question... I've no ida about actual tracks but according to Vintagesynthexplorer it's been used by "
"Kids In America" apparently...
Wouldn't call it hits, but didn't Whitehouse use a wasp? Maybe other power electric groups too?
I vaguely remember Kids in America and the one Whitehouse song
Digitally controlled analogue oscillators for those interested. 1st of the kind.

If You don't like the synth don't make a vídeo
He didn’t slag it off, he just had criticism
