I just looked them up on the Internet & they are not Plovers. They are "Masked Lapwings". Update they are a Plover, that's what they are called "Masked Lapwings".
I think it's pathetic that the dog's owner is deliberately throwing the ball in the direction of the plovers and put the dog in possible danger and also upsetting the plovers, they were getting purely hysterical. low life behaviour
The nest probably isn’t even where the dog is running. These birds are annoying. I can’t put clothes on my clothesline, the dog is crapping under the eaves right next to the bedroom window because he gets attacked in his own backyard. They wake you up. They control the whole neighbour hood and all the other native birds are chased off. Hate them and I am a bird lover. Next year I’m buying a water blaster and when the bastards start getting territorial around my house, they are going to be strongly discouraged.
I'm a Plover and I like to lay my eggs right in the middle of the most trafficked places.
