Dopo aver sentito arte musicale più tormentata mi devo rifare l'orecchio ar armonie che mi riportino alla gioia di vivere il miracolo della bellezza dei suoni e delle immagini.

The Tallis Scholars are among the best interpreters of early music performing these days. Thank you for posting.

Vaughan Williams considered this Benedictus the most perfect music ever written. It is hard to argue with his judgement...and this is a gorgeous performance.

Tonight in maybe 20 videographs there were soprani who thought that they were singin solo. But the Slavic choirs were all on pitch and perfectly blent.

It's interesting to think that the church had so much influence on music. There is a legend that claims that the Council of Trent was considering disallowing music entirely from Masses and that Palestrina’s Missa Brevis was written and performed for them expressly to convince them otherwise.

The legend was that the Council of Trent contemplated banning polyphony, and that it was the Missa Papae Marcelli which was composed to dissuade them of this.

Answer to Cassie S. Yes in"a way" I do agree with you . But Thanks God this world is not filed with people having this musical culture ! Let us enjoy it as much as possible and only understand that not every one read Sophocles "in the text" ! ! ! ! !

I love the music, but I'm far more interested in purchasing the dog food that was advertised before it.

Unfortunately though the Sistine Chapel Choir is no longer the respected force it once was. The International Church Music Review recently criticised the choir as the singers wanted to overshout each other, they were frequently out of tune, the sound uneven, the conducting without any artistic power, the organ and organ playing like in a second-rank country parish church.! Very sad when you consider its great roots.
