My main complaint with GT7 is that there's almost zero sense-of-speed when it's in the chase camera. Cockpit cam looks OK, but the chase cam looks the same whether you're going 20mph or 200mph

GL feels very much like a mobile game. Progression is locked behind grinding cars you don't want to drive, the races get repetitive and are limited to the same handful of areas, upgrades are tiered rather than part based(engine level 1 vs engine swap to v12), and it's expensive to buy fun cars which forces you to either grind other races or do boring races that give them to you for free. That's not even mentioning the handling characteristics of every car feel almost identical and are much more sloppy than fh5 or pcars. I got to the last level of racing and got burned out.
I have all 4 of these games. GRID legends really surprised me with how good it is, although not really a sim, it is still a solid racer without a doubt. FH5 is basically eye candy on the Series X. I wanna like GT7, but its online only requirement rubs me the wrong way. And nothing needs to be said about Forza 7 because that game is a true Xbox classic.

I kinda hate GRID cam shake tbh, it's wobbly too smooth like Mario kart. I'll choose FH5 for that, cuz it looks solid and balance between arcadey and simulation
@@gardawg yea i get u, what i meant was its got a better sense of speed than the others(just to put it out there FH1 is THE GOAT of SOS...the stress it gives u when u go 300km+...and when u go above 400...boy oh boy 😭) Other than that i actually never liked GRID's cam placement its too low...FH has always been my favorite its in perfect position
On ps5 GRID looks just incredible. It has all the fun of FH5 with more sense of speed and has just as much immersion as GT7 with better lighting and graphics. Honestly probably the best all around racing game to date on next gen.
To be completely honest the only things I find that are lacking in Legends are the lighting and physics. Whenever I switch between Grid 2019, Grid Legends, Project cars 2, F1 2021 and FH5 on my Series x I find myself wanting more from Legends. Grid 2019 imo has the edge over legends in all of my tests besides from overall graphics. Grid legends is a very pretty game no doubt, however the lack of crisp dark shadows especially in the cockpit and the super simplistic (even by arcade standards) driving model makes me enjoy Grid 2019 a lot more. The only thing that bugs me about Grid 2019 is the terrible menus. That’s why 90% of the time I’m playing Project cars 2 lol.

The team at Turn 10 have worked wonders on FM7, my only problem with it, it's too dark. They have fantastic lighting capabilities and used none of them for this game. Can't wait for the new one tho "Fingers crossed for this year"
@@DonJoewonSong Yes! I played again last week after renewed interest in driving sims, and the first thing I noticed was how dark it is compared to Forza Horizon. Still, it holds up extremely well to GT7 which makes me all the more excited for FM8! -The Esperanto.
GRID Lgends may not be the best but we have no baseless complains for the game. Graphics are good, sense of speed is great, no MTX, have proper story and career, game is grindy but not too grindy. Its a fresh game. Just lacks in marketing.
With GT7 the sense of speed really doesn’t come into play too much until you drive faster race cars like LMP1 or Open wheel. Or the VGT cars then it gets faster not so much with road cars.
In the chase camera the best exhaust sounds its way better in FH5, but in the cockpit camera im impressed with the Gran Turismo 7 exhaust sound, definitely Gran Turismo it's designed for play in the cockpit camera. In the graphics I prefer the environment of Forza Horizon 5, but the car models are way better in Gran Turismo 7, the speedsence it's way better in FM7, Gran Turismo has bad speedsence but it's more realistic.
Gran Turismo has more ray tracing but less texture graphics but forza horizon has less ray tracing but more texture graphics. I like gt tracks however i like fh open world map. Let's wait for the new forza motorsport and more gt7 updates
FH5 is honestly astonishing and just simply shouldn't look this good on a console. I can't even begin to imagine what the Forza motorsport will be like.
Not gonna lie, I was borderline shocked at Grid Legends, that looks fantastic! For pure arcade action, I'm very impressed. It's on sale right now too ($40 on PS store) - I think I'm gonna pull the trigger. GT7 is accurate, and a true love letter to cars in general, but not nearly as exciting. More of a collector type game. Can't speak on the Forza games, I only have PS4 and PS5. But they look good to me on the video.

I did a rally off road race it scared the fuck out of me I was slipping and sliding although when I watched the replay it looked I was fine it my be haptic feedback and vibrations idk but I was pretty scared bc I thought I was going too fast and gonna slip off the track
It's terrible, no one's head moves like that in an actual race car unless your neck has bones and all meat. Most race cars, if not all have braces for for your neck and head, pushing that "realism" further down the toilet.
Grid Legends is one of the most amazing realistic experience I have ever felt, FH5 in second place here! Insane Work here Joe, this is a True Comparison and that's how you do it mate, well done 💪
GRID Legends is one of the most underrated racing games I've played over the past 10 years.. No one is giving this a chance, they released it at the wrong time.
Im gonna praise forza 7 here it absolutely won this to me. Especially the engine sound. I still go back to FM7 every other day just for the beautiful GT1 races. The C6R is my baby

The guy who uploaded this has his settings messed up and he didn’t bother correcting after he recorded it. I promise it looks better when it’s set up correctly, also the chase cam in GT7 can be changed to a more traditional one, the one he uses is the default one. If you watch any other footage of GT7 you’ll see how different it looks from this

So agree! I know it's my bias being a huge Horizon fan, but I can't help but feel through these comparisons that FH5 actually looks and feels better compared to GT7. While I can see that it looks extremely sharp, something about GT7 feels sterile.

I should give Grid Legends a chance I love Grid 2019 they just release it ina bad time specially I've been playing Elden Ring recently. For the graphics, in terms of car models GT7 wins hands down a thru one to one conversion specially the paint texture and tail/head light modeling. For the lighting GT7. Environmental Details, FH5 is truly photorealistic with the use of photogrammetry on the textures. FM7 still looks amazing though the lighting is too dark at times. For the audio, FH5 and Grid Legends wins they sound amazing and quite close to the real deal. GT7 does sound amazing too but its sound too muffled like listening through a pillow. FM7 is too harsh and tinny with not much bass.

FH5 seems like the jack of all trades master of none. It's good but needs more. GT7 is best at making the car look good especially in the interior. Excellent car modeling. GRiD Legends is the best at making the car enjoyable and I think it sounds the best here. Forza 7 quite disappointed with how it went from the clean sounds of F6 to distortion in F7. Might've been due to the audio guy that left to get hired by Polyphony. Project CARS 3 would've faired better.
gran turismo 7 is the best racing game in several areas. 1. it has the best and most realistic car sound of any games at least in most cars ( not all of them ) 2. gt7 have the best cockpit view of them all. 3. it has the best most detailed graphics on car both outside and the interior
@@ChrisE-iy7ok I disagree with 1 and 2. 1. Mainly because NFS MW2012 exists and RaceRoom with better sound design. 2. While yes it has great graphics to help with the cockpit view I would prefer if the camera was more dynamic like Project CARS 3, Driveclub or NFS Shift.
Imo the level of polish & finesse in GT7 is unrivaled on console. From the lighting & shading to the physics & sound you can tell they care about the finest details. Manual shifting sound on controler & chase cam characteristics are my two biggest complaints (besides that Sony greed… 😅). As always thank you for the incredible videos!!

It's impressive to see how different opinions are. Everyone will have his own feeling and will prefer such point on such game. The 4 are very good while being different: the perfection would be undoubtedly a mixture of the 4. Personally, I am most impressed by Motorsport, mainly for the behavior of the vehicle on the track. I'm not talking about the handling but the vibrations of the vehicle. It is this small detail that promotes immersion.
@@ariasgamingcr Maybe so. I've only played on the PS4 myself, where it doesn't look too great, but I haven't been blown away by PS5 footage either. I only play games with cockpit view and I really don't think it's a cut above from that perspective.

It blows my mind that Forza motorsport 7 keeps up even after 5 years , imagine what the next FM would be like. I also really like how the lighting works in GRID, and the Environments in FH5. GT7 feels a bit lacking.
For a (very) casual gamer, GT7 feels very underwhelming. Almost muted all around. The latest Grid games left me feeling burned by them but I still want to try Legends.
Based on this video I'm buying Grid legends today. I've been on the 10 hour ea play sample and I do not want to give a damn about tires. IRL or anywhere.
I feel like it’s the opposite for me. Forza really accentuates that turbo sound when turbos don’t really sound like that on a stock car. FH5 improved a lot upon FH4’s downgraded sound design, but I think GT7 still has its advantages since it’s sounds are recorded straight from the car
Other way around for me forza doesn't sound natrual or mechanical at all to me compared to GT , Dirt Rally 2.0 Or Grid Legends an a bunch other games i hate the engine sounds in FH5
In my opinion, the sounds of this hypercar are better implemented in Gran Turismo 7 and GRID Legends. Where the hypercar is accelerating. I noticed a very interesting moment in GRID Legends, even the hot air coming out of the exhaust pipes was implemented. In Forza Motorsport 7 and Forza Horizon 5, I think the sounds are too squeaky. But I could be wrong.
The camera shaking and car movements on FM7 are way better than the other to me , despite the game being 5yo now , and still, even if it is darker than GT7 , its seems beautiful, with cool lightnings. But soundings are often not accurate , thats the biggest issue to me
I guess very few ppl out there, who really could tell which one is the most autentic.. Speak up GT owners! ;) I'll stay with forza 5, that sound is amazing
I've watched a video where people complain that paddle shift animation in FH5 doesn't work properly, man, Grid Legends DON'T even have the animation lol
I like GT7 sound almost on point, yes, i think it's a bit soft than irl (maybe EU spec), but it's comfortable on my ears, so I can play for hours, I feel that other games sound too loud and rough, it makes my ears tired 😄 and the taillight glow on the GT7 is so pretty 😍
Interesting comparisons and a very thorough video, thanks. I am a driver these days, not a racer and with the limited game time I have FH5 is the winner for me. GT7 doesn't have the car list or game play for what I want, and I love the sound, look and gameplay of FH5. I also have FM7 for a racecar hit when I need it.
Not related to sound but if I could change anything in GT and Forza it would be: GT7 Chase cam: too smooth and the "glued to ass" makes it feel cheap. Also the sense of speed is dampened. Forza cockpit: always been garbage. Forza has fantastic visuals but they're ruined by the cockpit animations. I really hope that changes in the next forza because I'm tired of seeing what looks like a Barbie doll driving the car.
Good video. Love the 4K upload! I just finished FM7 yesterday (took me a while since I play long or extra long races on pro or unbeatable +done all races, and 1st in all). And it looks damn good on the One X. But still, all these games look good. And for some weird reason, FH5 actually appear to have the best sound. GT7 (as with Sport) sounds too murky; too unclear. But too me, there's still no better sounding racing game than the first Project Cars: clear, multilayered, and brutal sound. 2 had better racing (for the most part), but not as good sound. And the GT series are worth it for the replays and the pause menu showcases alone if you're an autophile (like me). Still not buying it due to bad mtx and no offline play. Not played Legends. Is it like the other GRiD games, where you have to drift through corners to go fast(er), or have they changed that part?
Gt7 sound very "muffled" too me. F7 and fh5 sound spot on and aggressive. Looking forward to getting grid legends soon. Looks really fun. I miss project Gotham racing.

For me Forza motorsport chase cam really gives you that great sense of speed. Whereas GT7 is great and aesthetic but it lacks a great sense of speed with the chase cam. Also the car sounds are much more vivid and realistic on forza motorsport. Forza horizon it’s pretty cool but the driving is quite childish

Grid, although not a simulation, has pretty solid immersion. FH5's environments (some of them) look almost photorealistic.

The sound in FH5 is ok, but GT7's is by far the most accurate to real life.
FM7 has a more aggressive speed sensing with a setting it has on camera, but Don has it set to zero.

For anyone that doesn't know, there is a 2nd cockpit camera view that you can turn on in settings. It's called "cockpit drift camera"

Yeah, forza Motorsport sounds like a lawnmower. I find horizon sound bad as well. It sounds really off to me. GT7 kills everything in sound.
Cockpit view in GT7 needs to be in "Wobble 2" for accurate head movement. Once you do its frighteningly realistic on fast tracks.

@@fabiooliveira4605 the video you’re seeing of GT7 here is not calibrated for the screen, that’s why it looks weird. The guy who uploaded this has his settings messed up and he didn’t bother correcting after he recorded it. I promise it looks better when it’s set up correctly, also the chase cam in GT7 can be changed to a more traditional one, the one he uses is the default one. If you watch any other footage of GT7 you’ll see how different it looks from this

So agree! I know it's my bias being a huge Horizon fan, but I can't help but feel through these comparisons that FH5 actually looks and feels better compared to GT7. While I can see that it looks extremely sharp, something about GT7 feels sterile.
It’s actually called Forza Motorsport, not FM8, it’s a reboot, there’s allready been a teaser trailer that revealed the name 1 and half year

The sound of the air rushing over the car is more prominent in GT series ...I'm not even sure I can hear it in the other titles.

I should give Grid Legends a chance I love Grid 2019 they just release it ina bad time specially I've been playing Elden Ring recently.
For the graphics, in terms of car models GT7 wins hands down a thru one to one conversion specially the paint texture and tail/head light modeling. For the lighting GT7. Environmental Details, FH5 is truly photorealistic with the use of photogrammetry on the textures. FM7 still looks amazing though the lighting is too dark at times.
For the audio, FH5 and Grid Legends wins they sound amazing and quite close to the real deal. GT7 does sound amazing too but its sound too muffled like listening through a pillow. FM7 is too harsh and tinny with not much bass.
It's crazy how good FH5 looks being open world. Kind of disappointed with how GT7 looks, especially in the chase cam, which is how I generally play.

FH5 seems like the jack of all trades master of none. It's good but needs more.
GT7 is best at making the car look good especially in the interior. Excellent car modeling.
GRiD Legends is the best at making the car enjoyable and I think it sounds the best here.
Forza 7 quite disappointed with how it went from the clean sounds of F6 to distortion in F7. Might've been due to the audio guy that left to get hired by Polyphony. Project CARS 3 would've faired better.

gran turismo 7 is the best racing game in several areas.
1. it has the best and most realistic car sound of any games at least in most cars ( not all of them )
2. gt7 have the best cockpit view of them all.
3. it has the best most detailed graphics on car both outside and the interior

1. Mainly because NFS MW2012 exists and RaceRoom with better sound design.
2. While yes it has great graphics to help with the cockpit view I would prefer if the camera was more dynamic like Project CARS 3, Driveclub or NFS Shift.
Imo the level of polish & finesse in GT7 is unrivaled on console. From the lighting & shading to the physics & sound you can tell they care about the finest details. Manual shifting sound on controler & chase cam characteristics are my two biggest complaints (besides that Sony greed… 😅). As always thank you for the incredible videos!!

It's impressive to see how different opinions are. Everyone will have his own feeling and will prefer such point on such game. The 4 are very good while being different: the perfection would be undoubtedly a mixture of the 4. Personally, I am most impressed by Motorsport, mainly for the behavior of the vehicle on the track. I'm not talking about the handling but the vibrations of the vehicle. It is this small detail that promotes immersion.
Have you not played gt7 on a ps5 with haptic feedback and the tension triggers make it a whole new level of immersive

@@ariasgamingcr Maybe so. I've only played on the PS4 myself, where it doesn't look too great, but I haven't been blown away by PS5 footage either. I only play games with cockpit view and I really don't think it's a cut above from that perspective.

It blows my mind that Forza motorsport 7 keeps up even after 5 years , imagine what the next FM would be like. I also really like how the lighting works in GRID, and the Environments in FH5. GT7 feels a bit lacking.

For a (very) casual gamer, GT7 feels very underwhelming. Almost muted all around. The latest Grid games left me feeling burned by them but I still want to try Legends.

All Gran Turismo sounds feel synthetic all have the same tone, Forza has always sounded more natural and mechanical.

I feel like it’s the opposite for me. Forza really accentuates that turbo sound when turbos don’t really sound like that on a stock car. FH5 improved a lot upon FH4’s downgraded sound design, but I think GT7 still has its advantages since it’s sounds are recorded straight from the car
Other way around for me forza doesn't sound natrual or mechanical at all to me compared to GT , Dirt Rally 2.0 Or Grid Legends an a bunch other games i hate the engine sounds in FH5

Grid legends copied the driving physics from nfs shift, especially when cornering. Great decision as it's more realistic.
It'd be a good idea to include some eeal life footage of the cars and their sounds too. There's tonnes of videos on TH-cam you could link to.

In my opinion, the sounds of this hypercar are better implemented in Gran Turismo 7 and GRID Legends. Where the hypercar is accelerating. I noticed a very interesting moment in GRID Legends, even the hot air coming out of the exhaust pipes was implemented. In Forza Motorsport 7 and Forza Horizon 5, I think the sounds are too squeaky. But I could be wrong.
The camera shaking and car movements on FM7 are way better than the other to me , despite the game being 5yo now , and still, even if it is darker than GT7 , its seems beautiful, with cool lightnings. But soundings are often not accurate , thats the biggest issue to me

Interesting comparisons and a very thorough video, thanks. I am a driver these days, not a racer and with the limited game time I have FH5 is the winner for me. GT7 doesn't have the car list or game play for what I want, and I love the sound, look and gameplay of FH5. I also have FM7 for a racecar hit when I need it.
Forza + Grid = 💚
Not related to sound but if I could change anything in GT and Forza it would be:
GT7 Chase cam: too smooth and the "glued to ass" makes it feel cheap. Also the sense of speed is dampened.
Forza cockpit: always been garbage. Forza has fantastic visuals but they're ruined by the cockpit animations. I really hope that changes in the next forza because I'm tired of seeing what looks like a Barbie doll driving the car.

I just finished FM7 yesterday (took me a while since I play long or extra long races on pro or unbeatable +done all races, and 1st in all). And it looks damn good on the One X.
But still, all these games look good. And for some weird reason, FH5 actually appear to have the best sound. GT7 (as with Sport) sounds too murky; too unclear. But too me, there's still no better sounding racing game than the first Project Cars: clear, multilayered, and brutal sound. 2 had better racing (for the most part), but not as good sound. And the GT series are worth it for the replays and the pause menu showcases alone if you're an autophile (like me).
Still not buying it due to bad mtx and no offline play.
Not played Legends. Is it like the other GRiD games, where you have to drift through corners to go fast(er), or have they changed that part?

For me Forza motorsport chase cam really gives you that great sense of speed. Whereas GT7 is great and aesthetic but it lacks a great sense of speed with the chase cam. Also the car sounds are much more vivid and realistic on forza motorsport. Forza horizon it’s pretty cool but the driving is quite childish
