And (b) you make slow/steady progress with a METHOD. Yes. You have to play Twinkle, Twinke before you tackle that rock song or classical piece. Piano Marvel is HONEST in its approach. If anyone is interested in playing piano the greatest success that ive had was by using the Turbo Piano Secret (just google it) without a doubt the no.1 idea that I've tried.
I have searched and watched many reviews of these apps. I am an adult beginner who is looking for the most bang for my buck while looking to enjoy playing. This review is by far the most comprehensive comparison and breakdown of important components that I have been looking at. Thank you
one of the best review i have seen. Absolutely no Bullsh!t. Just Straight to the point and answers all the questions i have. AMAZING JOB!!! Keep up the wonderful work.
Just a quick "note": Playground Sessions doesn't fully support acoustic piano. Its complete functionality is only available on pianos with a USB or Midi interface.

I started with private lessons and now want to cut back on private and start learning more with an app. Your review definitely helped me make a decision on which app to use. Very clear review. So helpful!! All of the details really helped me. I had downloaded all of these apps but with your notes, it was easy to see all the differences and pick one for now ;)
Hey, right now I'm 14 years old, my parents used to send me to piano classes when I was in 4th grade, I didn't really enjoy any kind of instruments at that time, to be honest, I wasn't interested in music at all. And we also stayed in China, which didn't really last long. So I'm currently trying to find methods to learn piano :)
Playground Sessions is amazing! I just picked the piano back up after 25 years of not playing. In a few short and fun hours I was back up to intermediate level, and imagine in a month or so I'll be nearly back to where I was! I especially like how Playground Sessions walks you through new songs bite by bite.
Is Playground Sessions good for sight reading practice? I mean, are there plenty of new exercises to see at various difficulty levels so you're not looking at the same exercises over and over? Thank you.
Excellent comparison video. I’ve used Simply Piano for nearly a year but am switching to Piano Marvel & book learning for a more formal learning experience. Simply Piano is fun and easy to use but probably glosses over important elements. I have a 3 month trial with skoove through my new Roland fp10 but I don’t see the point in using it
Thanks for your comment! I haven't used Simply piano yet, so I can't compare. All the mentioned applications are quality products, but I rather consider them as a supplement to music education. Alternatively, try online adult piano courses here: bit.ly/35AfPp1 Unlike piano applications, they have a clearer and more logical structure of lessons.
Simply piano has a great range of songs of all types in its "Play Beta" section, and most songs have three arrangements - beginner, intermediate and pre-advanced. Hence for someone like me whose main goal is to learn to easily sight read by reading new music everyday - the old 'read a stack of hymn books" idea - it has a huge range of music of all types to keep playing. This method is working well for me, and I can now read the intermediate songs at first sight to a tempo where they give me a lot of joy and motivation to keep learning. When I can do the same with their pre-advanced songs, maybe a year or two more, I might look around, but another key thing with these programs for me is also how good the arrangements are. There are some very nice arrangements in Simply Piano. I also feel the program takes advantage of the modern ways of learning piano, and makes it fun for everybody, not a just for a minority of purists who want you to learn it just the dull boring traditional way they did!
very informative video...you deserve thousand of subscribers...this is so far the best video on this topic; thank you for the time and effort you put in this video to make a decision for someone like me so easy

Hi there, you can find some latin music on Flowkey, but if you want to focus on this style, check out Eddie Palmieri Salsa Jams App: www.palmierimusic.com, or Hear And Play course: hearandplay.infusionsoft.com/app/storeFront/showProductDetail?productId=410 Another option is Open Studio Jazz Brazilian course: www.openstudiojazz.com/brazilian-jazz-piano...
Great analysis. I really want to learn jazz and improve my improvisation, but my finances are too tight for a teacher right now. Is there an app that'd best help me in that regard?
What would you recommend for a guitar player that knows basic theory so he knows how to build scales arpeggios and chords but lacks understanding on piano technique....for example which fingers to use, when to use left hand when to use right, fingerings for playing scales and things of that nature....

Most piano teachers in my area only offer online lessons because of Covid. How important do you think it is to actually be live in-person with teacher in the same room compared with using Zoom type of online connection?
Thank you, John, for a great question! I have a video dedicated to this topic: th-cam.com/video/0k2xcL9ns6U/w-d-xo.html I believe that in-person lesson are always the best option in case the teacher is skilled and able to motivate you. Learning music is not only practicing and playing correct notes, but also about socialization, motivation, talking about music and so on. In terms of correct piano technique, and correct interpretation, during a in-person lesson, the teacher can clearly see, hear and interact with you and your playing. Anyway, it doesn't mean that Zoom and online lessons are ineffective or bad. Everybody is somehow stuck and limited now during these corona times, so I believe we should try to do our best and do what is possible and safe. So online lessons can be stil a good option. But maybe this is also a proper time to focus more on listening to more music, analyze how the music work and practice piano technique.

Is it possible in any of these apps to change from english music encryption (A,B,C,D,E,F,G) to spanish/italian music encryption (Do,Re,Mi,Fa,Sol,La,Si)?
Hi Ravi, well, I would say no course or piano app is good for Akai mpk mini. This master keyboard has only 2 octaves (25 small keys). You won't be able to play most of repertoire on these keys. I can recommend some digital piano with minimally 73 keys (88 is better) and with hammer mechanism (the touch is similar like classical piano) if you want to learn to play keyboard. There are tons of them in different price categories. Some of these apps also work with an acoustic piano.

There are no practice basic etudes in Piano marvel to teach the cleff or the notes in order to begin reading.
