What about the type of footwork for the Falkenberg drill, or used by Xu Xin in his multipoint looping drills, for which the feet never come together before moving sideways, contrary to what's shown in this video?

For larger sweeps of space you basically lean into it with your torso and then have your legs catch up beneath you
