I can‘t stop listening to the solo of Barry. The more I hear it the more I am addicted to it. It’s the best cooperation of the rhythm group that I know!!!!
Arguably best Cannonball video on YT. I remember seeing it for the first time when Dave Chertok was showing his film collection and being completely knocked out by Barry's solo. Thank you, Chris for your dedication to Cannonball and jazz music!
Hard bop! Blazing performance by one of the really great GROUPS of all time - not thrown-together all-stars or freelancers but in fact a working band with mostly consistent membership for a long time.
Thank you so much for this, Mr. Stewart. This version of Del Sasser (Sam Jones' best) is off the charts. His riffing at the ending vamp is Cannon at his best. I love your Omnibook too!!
Mike Fahn!!! The best valve trombone player on the planet. I miss you man! I’ve begun performing my “Charlie Parker Omnibook Concert”. It’s all Bird and the feedback is tremendous. Maybe it will take me out your way to New York?
Wasn't diggin´the drums at the beggining but it was really cool to see them play this live. I just transcribed the head for this tune today. One of my favorites, specially with Cannonball Adderley
You have done a brilliant job in making this available to us. Check out the chapter on Barry Harris in "Jazz from Detroit". A very under-rated pianist.
Listening to and watching Barry Harris solo on this piece, it is clear that Barry was much underrated by the jazz critics and jazz media during his lifetime. None of the other major jazz pianists during Barry's lifetime could have equaled this solo in rhythmic power or melodic integrity. However the jazz media unfortunately caters to what is most commercially profitable and lacks the courage to write and stand apart from the vested economic powers that decide who will be signed for recording opportunities and made famous for future engagements and career promotion. Sad-but this is the result of our dishonest and authoritarian capitalist system. Rama Kumar
They are on FIRE! Rest in peace, Mr. Harris...
Thanks for uploading this. I watched it today 8-12-21 in remembrance of the passing away of Barry Harris at this wednesday 8 december 2021.
Damn that was hot! They almost burned the place down! As a piano player that piano solo was so satisfying.

I think Nat said: 'Cannonball...' (1:33)
Nat is on trumpet, or are my eyes completely shot?
You have no idea what you are talking about. Of course no one else heard that. Doc
