I've posted several videos using Out White Brite to reverse dye and then overdye with ice/liquid dyes over the past 3-4 months. But, not this design specifically.
I tried this for my 4 year olds t-shirt with dyes off of Amazon. I couldn't find sodium carbonate (soda ash) at Walmart, and found xanthan gum instead of guar gum (not sure if there's a huge difference) but it is gluten free thickener and definitely seemed to thicken the black dye! The t-shirt turned out BEAUTIFULLY and I didn't even leave it to rest for 24 hours. I took it apart maybe after 2 hours and it looked fantastic. Had more colours pop through than black but it still had a good amount of black in it. Thank you so much for this demonstration, my son is over the moon about his new shirt and can't wait to show it off!
Good EFX- 🎉. Instead of black dye, why not start with black shirt- remove color with bleach- then add your rainbow 🌈 dyes 2 bleached out spots. Thanks 🙏 4 sharing
I use the procion reactive dyes as well. What is the process you use to make the good liquid dyes? And how do you thicken the black dye (I have better black as well)? What tips would you suggest when trying to overlay darker (greys, blacks, purples, greens, blues, etc) on top of vibrant colors? Is it better to Ice or liquid dye for this tek?
Hi, was thinking that basically we can use other backround coulor we feel like, and beacause you put this video, the thaught came to me! Thank you for that!
I was wondering how these get done. Nice job as always. I've seen these super tight spirals and was wondering if you had any clue how they do those. They look almost like they are done with a machine or something.
The precision spirals are made by taking a lot of time and precisely forming all the folds while creating the spiral. I've fiddled around with it and I'm sure it becomes easier/faster with practice; but, I become too easily annoyed to create that type of spiral.

Our dog barks every time a shadow moves and every time a squirrel makes the mistake of showing itself on our property. It would be unwise for anyone to break into a house in our area as the results would be grim.
Super!
Can you do this with unthickened dye?
Maybe u could try bleaching a blacj shirt and then tie dying it. That should produce the same results? Or similar.

Also- I think I've found my new love for tie dying through your videos 😂 Thanks!
Thank you. I'm happy you've found a new hobby.

Do you thicken all of your dyes?
No. Maybe 5% of the time or so.
Do you jam your own music on your video's?
No.... I'm very much not a music person.
Did you thicken the liquid colored dyes and the black dye you put in the bowl as well? Not sure what you dumped in the bowl help me out pleasee!
DOES YOUR DYES FADE WHEN IT WASHES?
My son has worn one of the shirts for over 2 years - so, at least 100 wash cycles and the color is still at about 80% of original.
I can see a little of your hair in the video, it beautiful. Your tie die work is so beautiful. Blessings
So what tie die inks/powders would I have to use in order to make Crimson Red, Gold Yellow, and Sky Blue?
Those should be available here: www.dharmatrading.com/dyes/dharma-fiber-reactive-procion-dyes.html
How do u store them while u wait for the dye to sink in? Do u lay it out in the sun or just wrap it in a zip wrap? Thank u.
They sit out on a table - I don't cover/bag any of the designs; but, I do use a heater during the winter.

Do you have a video on your thick water ?
I use guar gum to thicken the dye - it's readily available in most grocery stores in the caning section.

You're welcome. Hope it works out well for you.
Your dye looks thick.. is it?
The black was thickened, yes.
What do you soak them in first? I have always used vinegar..
They are soaked in a soda ash solution for at least 20 minutes. Approximately 1 cup of soda ash per gallon of water.
Casual Collisions after soaked do you hang dry them?
What do you use to thicken the liquid dye?
Love your videos!
I use guar gum; but, most people use sodium alginate. You use about 1/8 tsp per 4 ounces of dye.
Looks great!
Thank you.
