  • A long time coming, the first single malt release from The RoseIsle Distillery!
Boasting a 12.5,000,000 litre capacity and being used as a blending distillery for Diageo, RoseIsle has been sat in the background while crazy things have happened in the whisky industry. Now, it arrives with a rather wonderful twelve-year-old single malt with a rather surprising flavour profile.
You'll have to go and check out the video for more detail on the smells and flavours, but it's really worth sitting back and enjoying this liquid as it could be a long time before we see another release.
The Diageo Special Releases used to be fun. The last few years have been very stagnant and tedious. However, this is a small shining light that things could get better... we hope. We pray.

Chewy and rich with all that sourdough, etc. I love savoury and textured whisky. Thanks for sharing!

I do get your point about Ardbeg. Long time since I had it but it is a little like the Blasda.

Never tried the Blasda, but this is what I imagined it would have been like. Just so big and yeasty.

Well, I'll guess that life can't be too bad while you have a "limitless amount of stock to talk about." Lucky you!
Ardbeg without the peat...I'm not sure I can shake that idea out of me.
Anyway, as always, I appreciate your review. Not sure I can say much about this particular release mostly because I'm so excited to dip into the two unopened bottles in my seriously limited stock: Ardnamurchan AD 05.23 Cask Strength (I missed the 09.22 but loved the 02.22) and the Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 8. Gonna be a satisfying weekend!

One of those situations where people lend you bottles to review, and then you buy stuff on impulse. Before you know it, there's a table of whisky, and you don't know where to start. But they'll be some big hitters, and some weird stuff talked about in the next few weeks.
The Ardbeg thing I hadn't considered in previous sips of the liquid, but texturally it's not far off.
Just put an order in for the new Ardnamurchan CS and Rum Cask! Can't wait to review them.

Nice Phil I am curious about this one but I think I missed the train on the 20cl bottles. Let's see if I can find one in a bar or something, sounds interesting. Cheers!

Worth a check around your local stores to see if any of them are still there. I was amazed when I saw them on an order form.

Admittedly, I haven't tried the Oban, but I was really disappointed with last years cask strength release. It was just too sweet for me. But if this years release is good then you found an absolute bargain!

Bought one when I was at the Oban distillery. For some reason they had it on the bar but weren’t opening it. Ended up at Dalwhinnie distillery on the way home where my fiancé got to try it as I was driving. After her telling me I should get a second bottle and Dalwhinnie not having anymore they asked Blair athol distillery to keep one back for me. Once home cracked it open and I’m really glad I got a second bottle which I don’t Normally do without trying it first. Hopefully it won’t be to long until we see another bottling.
I agree about Talisker, I always just buy Talisker from the releases but couldn’t justify it this year.

That's a cool little tour, and you got ahold of a second one! Weird it was on the bar but not open.
Yeah, the Talisker sounds great, but the price is just a no from me.

    Thanks for the review!
I’m interested in the Clynelish release. Maybe boring but I’ll take straight bourbon cask matured Clynelish any day.

Nothing boring about that at all.

Genuinely intriguing, it looks a little flat with the price and packaging. But honestly good liquid.
