When you realize that the only reason why Aatrox screams so much is because he is terrified of not being heard, the only reason he kills is out of pure despair and in search of the slightest grim of hope that maybe someone can destroy him and his blade, and when you realize that the reason why he has so many quotes in the 3rd person is because he's afraid of being alone... such a sad character, From The strongest Hero That has been born, to a Betrayed Madman who has lost hope even in death, carried now only by his former pride

@@adio8824 So what makes a good villain in your opinion? For me they need to have a driving force behind their choices and not be plain evil, but show a spectrum of emotions. Aatrox is all about slaughter, gore, violence and screaming because he needs enemies so that one day he finds one that kills him and if he doesn't? He will destroy the world itself and hope that ends him. If he stops killing he will go back into the blade and eternally suffer until somebody else picks him up, the only choice he has is further killing - that's a good villain for me.

I never read Aatrox's backstory, but by the heavens and light above, how could I not know of this tale? Such grief and wisdom, so much knowledge and so much sorrow.
Ikr, it happens so much wisdom close to us all along however we sometimes we just don't see it
Ok so aatrox is a champion of a and empire called "sheremiah", he was the a sort of icon being respected by many heroes for being true and just, one day his empire sheremiah and another joined together to fight against a rebellion and they did win the battle but of course there are fatalities in war and that included aatrox. Eventually the empire sheremiah, and since the empire is no longer standing they went under a new name called "the sun born" but over time they started changing and another war started over the ruins of their world the mortals who ran away called the sun born by a new name, "the darkin" and as the war continued aatrox's sword basically like absorbed him one day and has been absorbing other people who touch the sword. and he lost his mortality and became immortal and when he absorbs people they are completely dead essentially, only aatrox's mind/ consciousness is present in the sword
Edit: I haven't played the game myself but from this line here 0:10 it seems he does consider himself, well himself even tho his mind is the only one there and none of the other consciousness of the people he had absorbed aren't there

Him and pantheon need their own season in arcane to show the depth behind Aatrox, how he was a glorious and proud man, and ended up a sad and suffering darkin who hides it behind a monstrous facade.
Probably not Arcane because Arcane is about Piltover and Zaun but a new series with a new name.

What's sad is you can hear his voice wavering between madness, evil and insanity and a crushed soul, a desperate spirit trying to redeem itself. As he tries to fight it he remembers there's no need and falls back into darkness

@@carnage6968 i think hes making a reference to the m-theory that, if it is proven correct in the future, gives proof that time itself is moving in a circle, so if youre born youre stuck in an neverending circle of dying and beeing reborn into the same life over and over again without knowing it. for some it is a positive thing for others it is a neverending hell. imagine dying a horrendous death seconds after your birth and you have to experience it over and over again for all eternity.

Im touched in Aatrox's lore, its really sad that he had to endure all of the pain and suffering alone in his dark empty consciousness
Betrayed by those who he sworn to protect. Betrayed by the very ideals he withheld. Trapped in a blade for a long time, which drove him into insanity. He's suffering. He wants to die. But he knows no one can kill him. But even then, he's still hoping that there'd be someone to stop him. To end his existence.

I fucking love this line with my life. It's a perfect way to describe the Darkin, specially Aatrox.
It just describes how far they have fallen. They were described as majestic beings - Ascended god-warriors with wings as they were the golden light of dawn.

aatrox is just a man whose looking to die. He has seen alot of things..he looked at the darkness and won. Although he and his brothers won they changed....what came back slowly morph and transform into something that could no longer be consider a hero and soon became a monster.
Betrayed by the people he once protected, the loneliness of being imprisoned, the madness of the darkness. He seeks and long for death.

Rage and hatred has always been the strongest emotion, love can move mountains but rage can destroy the world. Aatrox once one of the most noble warrior, scarred by the horrors of battle and betrayed by the people he had protected. Hatred consumed him and now the ones who tricked him will suffer the consequence of his wrath born from his rage and imprisonment
The ones that theoretically tricked him are the void. He's not really targeting the void specifically though he's just legit done with life.

@@nicetroy I think it's more to do with how long they have been "active". As far as I know, Rhaast has been dormant since he was originally sealed in the scythe. His bloodlust from the Darkin War is still fresh, and the only body he has ever possessed is Kayn's.
Aatrox has been going from host to host for hundreds of years. Living, fighting, dying. On repeat for centuries. His desire for battle would have died a long time ago, but that's all he can do. Just wants the cycle to end.

Aatrox's and pantheon's respective stories never fail to give me a sense of hope, some comfort that i seek so irrationally. Their stories are just so beautiful, so cruel, so emotional, makes them feel real, makes them feel relatable as if you lived their lives yourself.

The battle. I lost control. It was foolish. The mortals formed in ranks against me. I crashed into them. Drank from them. The temptation was too great. As I reaped, I reforged their flesh into a better approximation of my true shape. Desperately, I consumed more and more, hoping for the briefest echo of what I once was. Instead, like a fire, I burned too quickly, destroying even my host’s form.
Darkness.
It was raining when we fought. What if the mud and filth cover me? What if I’m hidden for thousands of years? Trapped in this prison. The horror of that idea feeds my panic. The battle is ending. I can feel it. I must will my form upright. I must… I must...
I have no arms or legs. The darkness binds me, like a cocoon.
No. I will myself upright. But I can’t know if it is working. I cannot know anything but the darkness.
Please. Let some mortal find me. Please. I beg the darkness endlessly, but the humiliation of my plea is answered only with silence.
But then…
I feel a mortal nearby. I have no eyes, no ears, but I can feel his approach. He is fleeing from adversaries. He must try to defend himself. He must grasp me.
Can he see me? He could run past me. I would be left here.
I feel his hand grip this form and… and his consciousness opens to me!
I burrow into him, pulling him down. I am like a drowning man thrown into the sea by a shipwreck, dragging myself to the surface by clawing past my fellows.
“What’s happening?!” the mortal screams. But he is silenced by the darkness-the endless darkness I have just escaped.
And I have eyes.
I can see the falling rain. The muck. The blood of this slaughtering field. In front of me stand two weary knights with spears. I cut them apart, and drink in their forms, recrafting this body to my needs.
They are weak. I must move quickly. I must find a better wielder. A better host. Around me are only the dead and dying. I hear their souls retreating from this world.
The fighting has not ended. It’s moved inside the city walls. I force my new shape-limping, crawling-toward the sounds of battle. Toward a better host.
I roar. But not in triumph. Never in triumph.
I will drink from that city, but I will achieve only a grotesque mockery of my former glory. I was shaped by the stars, and the purity of my aspect. I was light and reason given shape. I defended this world in the greatest battles ever known. Now, blood and ichor drips from this stolen flesh as it decays. The muscles and bones struggle, tear, and protest the abomination I have become.
I take a breath.
“No, Aatrox,” I say, my voice wet and echoing off the dead that surround me. “We will go onward... and onward… and onward…”
Until the final oblivion comes.

I will make it bloom" This quote has so many explanations it speaks volumes depending on how you interpret the quote itself from your own perspective. there is two ways I see it to either take your pain your misery and your despair and turn it against everything that ever wronged you or two to use that pain and agony and grow as a person use that wisdom you almost died for and give it to others help them grow help them and stop them from suffering your indignities Aatrox you are respected my friend(and pantheon for epic quotes)

Darkin
A creature known as a "darkin" in league of legends. To sum of the lore of the darkin, they were once ascended warriors who would protect a land called Shurima. However during a war against the void they began to become corrupted, some of the ascended anyway. One of those who started getting corrupted began to utilize blood magic which only further corrupted some of the darkin. In response a war against them was made where many of them were sealed away, they were all sealed in weapons mind you. Aatrox, the one in the video, was one of the strongest and his seal after breaking left him mad and broken. He spiraled further and further downhill as more and more people became his host, fought over and over, died and repeated. Aatrox is a man who's body is so strong that he cannot die, he's immortal so he cannot age, and so in retaliation for the body the world gave him he wants it's destruction so he may rest and hear silence. That is his wish, death.
Every villain, is a broken hero.
All preaching and spreading chaos in the name of despair.
Hated by the masses, and scorned by nations.
Slayed by heros and burnt at stakes.
But if only they knew, that these villains, are those who needed saving the most. For they were exposed to horrors, that no man should ever know.

Notice how villains are always speaking about stealing hope from people, it’s just because they’ve had theirs stolen from them. People spread what they feel, life just brings out the worst in people, it’s a sad existence. But I conclude, it is better for a man to ground his feet firmly in light and take a stand against all odds. No matter how long and no matter how hard, villains are always annoyed by heros, giving reasons why their hope is folly and the like. But deep down, they’re angry that someone is walking down the path they abandoned and is succeeding.
I know, because I was one of them.

I always love listening to aatrox quotes. Ingame you mostly hear his screaming but when you listen to it separately you can actually hear the pain in his voice. Aatrox definitely is one of the best written champs in lol

You can really see how far Aatrox has fallen in this line. They were described as majestic beings with wings as they were the golden light of dawn and now reduced to nothing but an abomination of all life hates.

His words making me turn into villain, a broken villain who griefs and cries over every life he takes cause he knows what it worths, what it meant him when he was alive physically and emotionally.

It's so tearful. Aattrox is like, trying to remind himself that he have to be destructive, that he have to be bad for it to all end. HE HAVE TO BE BAD. just so he can end his suffering. The ring of emotions in his breath.... I hate it. But it's why I love Aatrox. All 500games with Aatrox, I put nothing but his voice at max volume.

The saddest part is that usually you expect to cry when someone is talking in a low, calming, 'professional tone, or at least that is what I thought as a child, though listening to this voice actor deliver the lines of such a character with such loud, unbounded, unbothered voice, as if he did not care about what others would think of his words, either think of it as 'cringy', hateful, or just plain sad, his character fears so much, and yet knows what he wants......truly well written
