It’s about her needing to feel validated through a “conventionally attractive” man being attracted and in love with her to make herself feel good about herself.
I feel like Nev especially dislikes people who use other people's photos because he's said on the show before that it can be a safety issue for the person whose photo is being used. They don't know someone thinks they're in a relationship with them so it could create a very unsafe situation if the person getting catfished was unhinged and saw them out or found things out about them... Maybe that's what he meant
Because he was catfished. He knows the feeling. It leaves you confused and so much more and he's right. You think you're talking to someone and they're not who they say they are. Its the worst lie
She definitely was using her photoshopped photos as a way to pretend to be her ideal image of herself, and it made her feel good to have a handsome fit guy saying shes beautiful. When she saw he was an overweight guy and THAT was who was attracted to her, it brought all of her insecurities about her weight to the forefront of her mind when looking at him. She hates looking at him because it reminds her of her own weight issue :(
And it’s so sad bc they both are attractive, but she automatically shes “fat=ugly”. could have been happy together if she wasn’t so shallow and hypocritical
Exactly. Ashley's dream situation was for Mike to look exactly as his pic and see her for who she really is and say he still loves her because then she would have this super cute fit guy who thought she was beautiful so she could feel validated.
The way they both could've helped each other onto being better and get fit would've been so amazing but sadly it's not easy to get on that state of mind

Even though they were going to meet up again he passes away shortly. This is not his happy ending. I hope in his last days he was surrounded by people who valued him.

If that makes sense? Like it doesn’t just hurt you but it also hurts someone else when you steal photos. I think that’s more of what he meant but I also totally see your interp of it because they are both catfishing!
I think that it happens in a lot of catfish episodes, one person saying they won't care how the other person looks because they're truly in love, they've talked for years, they know each other like no one else, but as soon as the person isn't conventionally attractive then suddenly all that love fades away. I know there's a feeling of betrayal after being lied to, but it makes me sad how important looks are. If the catfish was attractive then it wouldn't be a problem for the catfished person, just how he was still attracted to her so he didn't mind.
This is the only reason that people who think they are unattractive do not find love. They hate the way they look but then have completely unrealistic expectations of the person they "deserve" to be with. It is like traditionally "ugly" nicely men who think they deserve a porn star and won't date anyone "below" that. @@samoneed1 "Stay in their lane" 😂😂😂 you see people who look like everything with people who look like everything. It's about honestly in looks and like personality
As a bigger person myself.... I do not equate their levels of catfishing at all. She made herself thinner sure.... But at least they're pictures of HER. he chose someone he could well and truly never be. You can lose weight ... But you can't be a completely different person in every way. Also separate from that, to hear they both died is INSANE. I hate to hear that when they were both trying to have a connection and had spent so long lying to one another and were finally trying to move forward.
So, if she wasn’t so displeased with her own body image, then I would assume she genuinely wasn’t attracted to him. But the fact that she has been very transparent about not liking her own image, it’s obvious that she’s projecting and it has nothing to do with whether she is genuinely attracted to him or not. It’s sad that she thinks that dating someone who has a different body than hers will make her feel secure… bc that’s absolutely not how it works. She could be dating a GQ model and she would still have the same body image issues. I hope she’s grown since then and got some help.
I have been searching for something entertaining to watch for so long, and finally, your video was suggested to me, I love catfish, and I love this video!! and you're from winnipeg?? cool coincidence!!
I do agree that they both catfished eachother, and that they were both equally dishonest to eachother. The only thing that I find slightly redeemable with what Ashley did is that she didnt take another random person's likeness and identity to catfish someone else. Stealing other people's photos is not only damaging to the person you are catfishing, but also the person you are pretending to look like. So that's the only way that what Mike did was "worse" than what Ashley did.
She hated being fat, she saw it as unattractive and thought being skinny and conventionally attractive made her a better or more superior person. So, when someone fit that box and liked her, she felt validated, but when it was actually a fat person, she did not feel special anymore because it was someone on the same level as her
As someone who is plus sized and has had been discriminated on online dating because of my size, I understand how Ashley feels. While I agree with Jayda that it shouldn’t matter and there is someone for everyone, online dating is extremely superficial. But I also agree that she needed therapy to help her self worth.
I’m ngl, you shaming her for editing her pictures threw me off, and it’s more valid because at 13 you start puberty and the beauty standard in middle school/highschool is skinny and girly and it’s been like that for years
I think it couldn't be more perfect. Both have the same insecurity. They could be eachother's support system and loose weight together. It's important to feel comfortable in your own skin. He's not expecting a model. She could just get to a point where she feels much more confident while also having someone who loves her no matter what weight they are. Couldn't be more romantic than this if you ask me 😅
Fatphobia and the effects of it be so real, based off her story of the treatment and neglect she’d experience im not even surprised that she would edit her pictures to slim herself down and look prettier then to also project her internalized fatphobia towards him after seeing hes plus sized himself
I JUST found you today and the way that your channel has been a chokehold is concerning. My little nostalgic heart and left of drama is eating every morsel of your content up.
She actually gave him another chance when Nev and Max catched up to her later. She said they were gonna meet and see where it's gonna go, that she doesn't wanna ignore so many years of connection. I think seeing him being big shook her bcos she struggled with her own weight, so she projected her own insecurities. Sadly though, both of them passed away young.
Ok but Mike was a serious catch, like he's sweet, kind, caring, loving, and he's a teddy bear that cuddles back and spoils you?! Girl please let him go to someone who actually deserves that when you are being a hypocrite :( I would've taken that smile he has as the bright light that it is ❤
I was just watching this season and after seeing the preview for this episode and the end of the previous one, I was confused like ???? This is not the episode that was advertised but lo and behold, jayda has me covered
That happened with me and kitchen nightmares! The next episode was not what it was supposed to be. I had to look it up and, welp, due to a lawsuit it was pulled!
She reminds me of this girl that I knew in college. She was a bigger girl, and she was constantly going after the more conventionally attractive guys in our friend group and then getting upset when they didn’t like her back and there was a bigger dude that really liked her and she literally embarrassed him in front of other people telling him that she was never going to go out with him. It was so mean. He is now married and she still single. So….girl played herself.
Oh my gosh, nooo, this is so tragic. There was so much hope! Mike especially, I feel so bad, he was so excited and happy. At least, in airing this, people know who they each are and learn their stories. I think it helps immortalize them, in an admittedly unusual way, but isn’t that something we all want in some small way? A legacy? I will think of them each right now, and send some love out into the universe. They were trying, and deserved happiness. ❤😢
I was not expecting to hear they BOTH DIED!!! How awful and sad. I hope the families are doing okay xx

It was pathetic in this episode that they were catfishing each other, but somehow Ashley was the victim??? What bs. I felt bad for Mike. They made him seem like the shady one, when Ashley did the same thing. She just altered her liiks DRASTICALLY with photoshop. Nev was an a$$ for the way they portrayed her as some victim.
I will say looking up their ages, a continued relationship with Mike might not have been the best for Ashley seeing as the relationship started when she was 13 and he was 19 😬there was always going to be a massive maturity gap there that was not healthy at all. Both of them definitely needed support and therapy rather than being on TV. Such a sad ending for them both, I hope they're resting peacefully
You somehow fell into my algorithm and I'm not mad. The ending was sad but it seems that she never got rid of those demons. I hope they both are at peace
I can only assume her thought behind assuming that since she was the catfish that he was the one automatically being the honest truthful one is that sis probably thought that no such situation of two ppl catfishing each other existed, but as we see from this case and many others that absolutely does occur 😭💀

@@samoneed1 "Stay in their lane" 😂😂😂 you see people who look like everything with people who look like everything. It's about honestly in looks and like personality
@@tessaelto1472so what are the other reasons?
Might want to watch til the end before commenting... sadly they both passed away
She overdosed and died. So
Crazy where insecurity can get you.
I have been searching for something entertaining to watch for so long, and finally, your video was suggested to me, I love catfish, and I love this video!! and you're from winnipeg?? cool coincidence!!
Such a sad ending, i was definitely rooting for Mike by the end. I truly hope that they felt loved by the time they passed.
Watching Catfish without commentary from Jayda just isnt the same
This is classic "You don't love me. You love the idea of me".
She hated being fat, she saw it as unattractive and thought being skinny and conventionally attractive made her a better or more superior person. So, when someone fit that box and liked her, she felt validated, but when it was actually a fat person, she did not feel special anymore because it was someone on the same level as her
After SEVEN YEARS
I am pretty sure i would not be able to forget or let go of that person.
The ending hit me like a truck was not expecting that at all
As someone who is plus sized and has had been discriminated on online dating because of my size, I understand how Ashley feels. While I agree with Jayda that it shouldn’t matter and there is someone for everyone, online dating is extremely superficial. But I also agree that she needed therapy to help her self worth.
Enjoyed the video, came up in my recommendations randomly have a feeling I will go down the rabbit hole of the catfish videos lol, had to subscribe
... I did not expect the reason why the episode was taken off. I hope their families are okay.
JAYDA POSTS RIGHT WHEN I SIT DOWN W MY MEAL. I LOVE YOU GIRL THANK YOU
YOU'RE WELCOME BESTIE ENJOY YOUR FOOD❤️
I’m ngl, you shaming her for editing her pictures threw me off, and it’s more valid because at 13 you start puberty and the beauty standard in middle school/highschool is skinny and girly and it’s been like that for years
16:29 everybody’s so creative Audio tucked me to sleep lmao
I think it couldn't be more perfect. Both have the same insecurity. They could be eachother's support system and loose weight together. It's important to feel comfortable in your own skin. He's not expecting a model. She could just get to a point where she feels much more confident while also having someone who loves her no matter what weight they are. Couldn't be more romantic than this if you ask me 😅
You really had a compassionate take on Ashley.
Thank you bestie, I tried my best to be fair, and honest while still extending her the grace she deserved
Fatphobia and the effects of it be so real, based off her story of the treatment and neglect she’d experience im not even surprised that she would edit her pictures to slim herself down and look prettier then to also project her internalized fatphobia towards him after seeing hes plus sized himself
i wasn't expecting this ending
I JUST found you today and the way that your channel has been a chokehold is concerning. My little nostalgic heart and left of drama is eating every morsel of your content up.
It's the fact that she knew she was plus size and cat fishing and acting shallow bc he's also a catfish is big yikes.
IM SO OBSESSED WITH THESE PLS KEEP POSTING
JESUS, I was not at all expecting that ending. That's so sad to hear.
If you’re not happy with your body, you need to workout.
You will never get any results if you’re not adding physical activities into your life.
Mike passed from a pulmonary embolism (heart blood clot) and Ashley passed from a heroin overdose😓 just sadddd
We need to get you to 100k sis because once you post, I’m sat
Jesus Christ that ending was a curveball. RIP Mike & Ashley.
My dishes are done and it’s all thanks to you girly.
You did that!!
I'm self conscious so I decided to go on television for millions of people to be able to judge me
perfect timing, i need something to play in the back while i studyyy
Happy to keep you company, and I hope studying goes well😊
Literally love your laugh , it’s so contagious
I LOVE that "whats not clicking??" Has made it into the sound edit 😂😂
Oh my gosh, nooo, this is so tragic. There was so much hope! Mike especially, I feel so bad, he was so excited and happy. At least, in airing this, people know who they each are and learn their stories. I think it helps immortalize them, in an admittedly unusual way, but isn’t that something we all want in some small way? A legacy? I will think of them each right now, and send some love out into the universe. They were trying, and deserved happiness. ❤😢
Awe 🥺 I had no idea they passed! ❤️ peace for their families
Talking about body positivity and therapy as it relates to anything made in 2013 is brazy 🤣🤣 yeaaa we didn’t know how to even have those back then 😭
Omgggg I love love love your energy! I’ve spent the last few days binge watching your content!! 🩵🩵
literally nothing would’ve prepared me for the last bit of the video that’s horrible I hope they’re resting easy :(
I was not expecting to hear they BOTH DIED!!!
😶 ooooh boy
Your memes/sound bytes in this were on point
Your uploads literallyyyyy make my day every time
You somehow fell into my algorithm and I'm not mad. The ending was sad but it seems that she never got rid of those demons. I hope they both are at peace
The reaction clip at 6:46 is about the Ruby Franke Jodi Hildebrandt trial 🤣🤣
She said looks don't matter when Mike needed to accept that SHE was the catfisher but really, looks DO matter bc she can't accept him for him.
I had a feeling that you were gonna say what you said at the end. The reason it was removed😞....I pray they are both at peace ❤
Most of the people on the show that say I really don’t care what they actually look like get the most upset when it’s not the person in the picture 😅
I can only assume her thought behind assuming that since she was the catfish that he was the one automatically being the honest truthful one is that sis probably thought that no such situation of two ppl catfishing each other existed, but as we see from this case and many others that absolutely does occur 😭💀
