NEVER weld bearing retainers on. It is like cutting a nick in the axle with a grinder. It will break. Plus tacking those collars on expands the collars. IF the collar is loose junk the axle. Otherwise use a little Loctite bearing retainer when you press the retainer on
Glad you and cat are ok. I have worked in the breakdown recovery business for a long time , always get out your car and wait, I don’t care if it’s raining or snowing, as have seen too many cars waiting for recovery being hit . You guys and the car got off very lightly , sadly I can’t say that’s always the case . Good luck with the repairs .
Thanks mate! 👍 We were quite close to a roundabout (but not close enough that the guy wouldn't have seen us IF he was looking) so nobody would realistically get up to great speeds. BUT you'r right we should have got out of the car and defo will in future. 👍
Mate I can’t believe that but like you say everyone walked away ok and she can be repaired I like they way you just carry on and don’t let it get you down FairPlay keep up your hard work with the channel 👍

There's no chance this can be PDR repaired with no filler, the creases are too bad and over the seams. It needs a porta power and probably panel replacement.
That quarter will repair no probs. Rear panel will need replacing though I’d say. These cars were made of decent metal unlike the modern tin rubbish. Good panel beater will get that straight with minimal filler.

like others have said. no chassis damage, minimal cosmetic damage. either replace the quarter panel and rear panel or pull straignt and fine tune with hammer, dolly and a skim of filler. not 'destroyed' at all. if insurance write off, buy it back because if you dont, someone else will have it back on the road within a week!
youre taking it well...id prob be locked up if it happend to me , i recon that would pull out if its a clean original panel , dont be too hasty to get some repo panel fitted
@@marcushayesford disagree slightly , theres some awesome panel beaters that could sort it , replacement panel will rust where its welded , up to you though whatever makes you happy ...i like to keep orig panels when possible

Insurance will always try to get out of a claim and will go to the cheapest repairer. I have been rear ended a few times now, years ago my Audi quattro was rear ended by a driverless car, the "panel beater" who did the "repair" pulled it out and used a load of filler (I measured it as being approx 5-6mm thick), had another panel beater "repair" the drivers door as a woman reversed into it, they replaced the door ok but cut all the wires and I had to take it back to them to get the paint match right 3 times. The next "panel beater" who "repaired" my current vehicle did such a poor job that I had to tell him to put the proper bolts in (that I supplied) and I had to take it back to them so they could fix the color matching....
