    I put sound defending in the same thickness as the height of the ridges in between them, then a layer of thin isolation, before the thinnest plywood I could get, got cut to fit and put on top.
    (I think there are videos on my channel)
    Then I put a rug on top of that, my car has an even lower ceiling than yours, therefore the floor is really thin and lightweight.. 😊
    But most importantly, flat. 😉
    Even with the new waterstorage, you can still use the pump, just move the hose from tank to tank as they empty. 😉
    Just like the tap, you can have one lid which the hose goes thru, that you move from tank to tank.
    I bought one of those "waterbubble" storage tanks, which conform to spaces, so you don't need a square to fit them in. And they fold out of the way as they empty.
    But they are flimsy, meaning that they don't stay firm on the surface as you use them.
    Meaning it can be both a blessing and a curse, especially using it like you do.
    But for the pump, they're probably good, especially as they fold from lack of air getting in.
    So the pump won't struggle with vacuum building up.
    I just finished my new bed design, but are already wondering if I should change it up again.
    Change the whole build for the third time.. 😂

    I've heard it said that a van build is a perpetual project. So it is. Your new water system is the most practical, never saw the 4L containers before. They will go on my Amazon wish list now, absolutely a good modification. I will gift my new rechargeable pump. Thanks for the update.🐞

    You are so creative and your van interior design is very attractive. Great job! My van's floor is also undulated with a rubber mat over it. Like you I placed a thick carpet over the rubber mat and use an area rug along the bed (a Coleman camp cot). Inside the sliding door is a comfort kitchen pad that can be easily cleaned with a large Crocodile wet wipe (Home Depot). I have changed my interior several times and minimalized the "stuff" set up, giving more floor space. You have provided many great ideas 💡👍👌😀.

    I couldn't agree more - a good night's sleep has to be number one on the list! And, as I have said before - easy access to making my morning cuppa! I am glad to see you are enjoying your tiny home. Even though I don't get to stay in mine all the time, I love being there. It is so peaceful, cozy, and easy! If you ever decide to add the plywood all you need for the FTC 2010 is a 4 by 6 piece. I didn't nail mine down. It is pretty heavy. I topped mine with soft yoga mat stuff. I love the carpet, but I carry my ebike back there and it would get pretty destroyed! I have linoleum and with the soft mat underneath it is very comfy to sit on the floor.

    I am on my long journey to vandom- not to live in all year I've had decided for me by health issues, but much of it. I will keep my apartment and when I retire I shall be gone in blocks of 3 weeks. Then I can come home and use the facilities and get ready for the next trip. I don't know really it's all still planning. But I am 2 Months ahead with my rent, clear of all debt and have other accounts in credit and saving for my bus. Vehicle cost no more than £6000 and £2000 for the conversion. I also have my welding certificate now. I took classes. I can travel and earn money fixing things. I can cook too, so probably try to feed homeless people in winter on food waste from supermarkets. A D1+E driving license allow me to tow a trailer behind my bus. So I can work from there. I am now investigating residencies in former Russian territories like Turjigestan and Turkmenistan for a trip to the East.

    Hey Ms. Dee ! In our shuttle bus "Serenity", the rubber ribbed flooring was in good shape, and after adding kitchen counter, storage and bed, there is only a "hallway" left. Two outdoor type carpet runners cover most of that, at night and during travel the dog beds cover most of the carpet. Spending time and money on the floor didn't make sense to me. We carry a small vaccume, but also can just take the carpet out and shake 'em. If they get muddy, hang 'em up and hose 'em down.

I enjoy utilizing the great outdoors as my living space as much as possible ... it's always a pleasure to watch your youtube production ... I am glad your thriving out there ... some folks really have a difficult time adjusting to having so much time on their hands ... to soak up nature while relaxing as an observer .. for some folks it doesn't fill their void for activity .. these often are bored easily ... it doesn't occur to many how they might blend into their surroundings as the wild life are accustom to living ...

      Hi Dee, I know this is off topic, but I need help. How do you go about utilizing the great outdoors as your living space without getting eaten up by bugs and stung by flying insects? I am an avid Gardner and keeping bugs off me is my biggest challenge. I garden in long sleeve shirts and long pants, and socks, but still the bugs, bug me. I lather my self in peppermint essential oil, but nothing seem to work well for me. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated as gardening is my main hobby right now. I have gotten stung by bees and wasps, not fun.

    • @LadyBugout
      @LadyBugout  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ronniemead805 Hey Ronnie, that is a tough one. I do use peppermint spray inside the van and it seems to keep bugs away. Outside I, too, wear clothing gear that is mesh or netted to keep them away. Depends where I am and how many. I try to stay in when it is dusk or dawn when they tend to be out in larger numbers. I had a mosquito watch that worked well-I gave it away to someone who needed it more than me, but intend to get another one. I also use citronella tea candles outside near where I will be sitting. Hope that helps. (They do have little devices to wear on belts too if you are working or walking out and about that are like the mosquito watch that emits a little frequency that bugs do not like). Hope this helps a little. 🙌🏼💃🏻💪🏼

      Had the same rigid white water containers initially but they were heavy, spout unreliable & couldn't clean interior. Currently using recycled V-8 juice bottles (52 oz size) Can squeeze them in corners & shape easy to grasp. Looked at universal spouts (8 months ago) but haven't ordered them. The screw cap is good enough. They're darn sturdy been dropped 3 feet onto pavement and nary a leak.

    Dee, I have always liked your van...I love 2.0! Such a cozy little nest, that you can open the back doors to let all of nature in. If only I could just stand up. And, I'm with you on the area rug, even tho or maybe even because my trusty sidekick is a 90+lb bulldog. Much easier to clean or replace a rug than a whole floor. My van plan is not for full time. I would just like have to more options for camping rather than a yurt. Being on my knees is just not an option. And, hey, I hear that "undulating" floors are all the rage right now... But as I was watching that part I was thinking would a high quality super think carpet padding be more comfortable than plywood?

    I love watching your videos. You and Bunny are my favorites. You are so inspiring 😊 I just got a 2012 transit connect a few weeks ago and am really enjoying fitting it out. You inspired me to use carpet instead of leftover laminate flooring - i got a 4x6 good quality indoor/ outdoor rug from amazon. I want to share that I also got anti-fatigue puzzle mats from harbor freight, 2 packs of 4. 6 of the tiles fit the van perfectly with a tiny bit of trimming at the wheel wells. I cut the 2 leftover tiles into 2-3" strips to elevate the low spots in the floor. I've only been on one trip so far but it seems to be working pretty well.
    Keep doing what you do ❤😊

    Hi Dee - if & when you do decide to go for plywood floor: my husband & I used extra strong zip ties to attach our floor to the existing metal tie down loops. It is removable. Then we put a pad we had that a rowing machine sat on (rowing machine fits on a yoga mat 👍🏻) so that pad is soft (happy knees) but also has a more slippery surface so we can easily move our folding sofa forward & easily clean it. And then I have a very small area rug just in front of the sofa - although I would like a larger wool one someday for extra insulation 🤔 But so far so good. 👍🏻 We cannot leave the farm as much as we would like but this does work for us the few times we have used it. And it lets us still use our van for farm supplies too. Best of both worlds! 🥰

    That is all such good advice. Especially about designing the build around the bed. I will start experimenting with what I think will be comfortable. I'm a disabled gal so a comfortable bed that doesn't require too much fuss is very important. Interesting about the water pump! I like your style of keeping things very simple. The flash stuff is great. Until it breaks down.

      Hello, another disabled lady here who wants minimal fuss when I need to rest my back. I just got a 2012 transit connect van a few weeks ago, and I settled on a chaise lounge, like on a pool deck. I adjust the passenger seat back to fit (it is extra long, but it works). On top of that I use a 4" 30x72 firm foam pad layered on top of an Ikea kids foldable exercise mat. I wrapped a twin size mattress pad around the combo foam & Ikea mat and pinned and duct taped it at the center underneath. It's pretty darn comfortable, and there's good storage room under the bed 😊
      This might work for you.

    Hi Dee from Australia. Thanks for posting. I am interested in the comment you made regarding using wool mats instead of sheets on your beds. I have never heard of this. It sounds interesting. Do you need to wash the wool mats as frequently as you would sheets?

    • @jessiehead6525

      I find wool too itchy. I use lightweight polar fleece blankets. They wash & dry as easy as sheets.

    • @LadyBugout
      @LadyBugout  ปีที่แล้ว

      I first started using wool blankets in Bolivia where I learned it from Quechuan Indians who did it in lieu of cotton sheets. You do not have to wash it as often because wool has natural antibacterial and moisture wicking properties that make it last quite a while. If you get alpaca wool it is expensive here-but less itchy. Or as @jessiehead6525 suggests, you can use fleece blankets as well.☺️

    Your advice about the bed has been taken to heart, and I've been thinking on it for awhile now. Fairly sure I need a dedicated bed, nothing I have to set up prior. I have a three year goal trajectory, so plenty of time, but bed is step one. Be careful with the peroxide on natural fibers. Yours probably isn't strong enough, but I've used a pet solution that is essentially a strong peroxide and it will eat holes on things if they are cotton or other natural materials.
