    So helpful!!! Just started transitioning over to Motion as it helps with my analysis paralysis from ADHD. But getting started has been so difficult since there aren’t any sort of videos on the software. I appreciate you taking the time to create this video!

      YES!! I seriously suffer from the worst analysis paralysis and Motion just like puts my inaction into perspective. Especially when I have to keep extending deadlines hahaha

    Creating statuses by project seems like a no-brainer. Thank you for pointing that out! Great overview.

      Glad to help! I feel like sometimes we tend to glamorize software, so I try to just show here's what something looks like in real life.

      So glad I was able to help! There's a ton of great software tools out there, I think it's like how you can have Starbucks & Dunkin; everyone has their personal preference and it depends on what you need it for!

    I really love not having to think about what to do next. I hope they keep working on the platform to make it more robust. More like Asana or something with more ease of use. Thanks!

    • @thesamanthabrandon
      @thesamanthabrandon  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Totally agree. I actually tested Asana, Trello, Clickup as well. I really love the UI/UX of Asana and the functionality. But I spent too much time rearranging my deadlines and calendar. I'm really hoping Motion can start releasing more features like this, especially with subtasks being the big one. Like I would love to be able to do a bunch of subtasks first if that makes sense (like scripting all in a day, filming video all in a day, etc).

    Hey Sam, great video. Curious, would you recommend just using the Flow stages instead of the Status stages now in the new update? Or is there a way you are intertwining the two? Thanks!

    Fantastic overview! I just started using Motion and many other tutorials on TH-cam would have so many errors. Furthermore, many would question the functionality of Motion when what they did was clearly user error. Thank you so much for your work!

    Thank you for the video. Is there any way to run reports with Motion? We bill clients for actual hours. Can I run a report to determine how many hours were invested in tasks and projects for a particular client each month? Another useful report would be a variance report that shows how many hours were budgeted for a task or project and what the actual was which would allow us to see if we are over or under budget.

    • @cavanlyons9537
      @cavanlyons9537 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could create custom text fields or labels for your tasks so that you can later sort your tasks in list view. From there you could tally up the hours manually and send the bill to the customer.

    • @lancejohnson9283

      @@lancejohnson9283 sorry for the late response but this is actually one thing I don't think it does well. I've actually put in a ticket to ask them to see how much time I've spent on a project because now that I've started taken on clients I think its really needed. If that's something you're looking for, I would check out Sunsama, which does a great job of tracking things.

    Whilst this is a great video, my view is different to those shown in anumerous areas. As a newcomer, it's not apoparent how to make my screen look the same as shown, consequently, I can't get to teh point where I have what is being shown. Hope that makes sense! Any really basic videos that might assist me with this?

      @@thesamanthabrandon your video is extremely helpful and in my opinion the best video out. I downloaded motion 4 days ago and have been spending more time trying to create a schedule than actually getting work done. I honestly wish motion was more intuitive and straight forward. For example, I created statuses but unfortunately they do not show up in a way that creates a workflow. I also went the route of setting up stages which attempts to create a workflow but instead stages just time blocks each task. Again your video is fantastic and I followed it step by step on 3-4 occasions. Based on my experience thus far, the software is very cumbersome. I have 3 days left on my trial and I am hoping its user error because I need something to help me simplify my busy schedule. Please help.
