My First Xenoblade was Chronicles 3. What a Masterpiece of a game so far. If you told me 1,2 & X are master pieces I would believe you no questions asked.
X is amazing. It is different then the other Xenoblade, no different then most games. But for everyone that gave it a chance that just makes it even more special. Xenoblade 1 and 2 are amazing journeys that happened. Xenoblade X is a an amazing world that stays.
When he means different he means like story layout and exploration wise. The core gsmeplaystill has the arts and combos and positional like the first one... but adds giant mechs thay are customizable like xeno gears!
Same for me. It was already my favorite game of all time when i was terrible at combat but i am replaying it at the moment and am much better at the game now. Now i love it even more.

It's absolutely fantastic. It's totally it's own thing but borrows what we know and love from it's (then precious) other games. This game is criminally underrated and got a raw deal being put on Wii U. No one bought a Wii U for JRPGs - well - no one bought a Wii U. It’s a shame it’s basically the only great game left to rot on Wii U and Monolith Soft doesn’t seem interested in porting it’s to Switch. It deserves a better chance
I think putting a game on PC would be a great experiment for Nintendo and this would be one of best games for it. That certainly would've helped this game back in 2015.

I can agree with you that the Story wasnt as detailed as in XC1 or XC2 but it was still a great Story with amazing Characters and even more amazing Plot Twists. And the World Building was Top Notch, 100% super creative. To be Honest, I like the Story of XCX way more then XC2 Story, because XC2 was just the same Story as XC1 in the end and the Characters were way too goofy

XCX the Majora's Mask of the series, where most character stories are side content. With that said, it's probably my favorite entry in the series. The main story isn't bad, it gets you going to where you need to go much like a third rail, once you reach certain gates more and more begins to unlock. Watching NLA grow and thrive over the course of the game was lowkey special. Never have I come across a world as immersive as the one Mira provided.

I just boot up X today after years of being dormant. God, this has the potential to be an MMORPG like FF14 Some touch ups and dungeon runs with a story about other races and whatnot. It really needs a story if its considered for a port or something. But theyre leaving a great game that can be expanded on the table
I’d love for there to be a Xenoblade mmo though i’d like it to still have that xenoblade spirit. Imo that would mean more like an EverQuest type game with the Xenoblade combat over a FFXIV style game. Hopefully it eventually happens even though it would probably be flooded with micro transactions.
I'd be over the moon even with a straight port, but they could do a lot better. Imagine them adding another continent or two, underwater exploration, and actual vehicles. Could have a specialized Skell for underwater stuff. Oh, and more sky islands! Perhaps a whole ass sky floating continent. Maybe an underground cave system? They could take the opportunity to blow TotK out of the water.
funny because for me X is the best of them, the music, the sci-fi, the mech, the masive world open world with no limits, the more mature story, the voice cast, the adventure. X has all i wanted out of it.
Agreed, full stop. If one says XCX is criminally underrated, I also feel the other games are overrated in comparison and are often used as a stick to try and beat XCX which quite frankly is unjust and thats final.
Now is also the time to get into X before the Wii U shop channel closes and you won't be able to download the free datapacks to help with loading any more. X is also the game which brought me to the Xenoblade series and I think that it's combat system is really on level with lategame 2 and Torna. Edit: The big moon jumps were awesome, and the sprint button was sorely missed in XC2. But X really does it's verticality really well.
Mod your Wii U (and you will have access to all the games xD if you haven't you're doing life wrong, also it's available on the PC via emulation and looks amazing upscaled to 4k and even some lovely filters you can apply and of course 60fps :-)
You won't actually need the data packs if you hack your Wii U, dump the game, and emulate it, or install the game digitally. The data packs were needed because the Wii U physically could not read the disk fast enough.
also those are not random NPCs those are the avatars from other players if you scout them by adding them to your party the other player will get rewards and you get blade medals to enter and fight the global nemesis. X has online game play boss fights, missions with other players or friends, and also passive missions where you are placed in a squad and everyone is collecting items or hunting enemies for rewards.
Best Xenoblade series, because Sawano’s music made this game even better. The game is so epic. I’ll get xc3 but this is the XC series I want on my switch.

This game holds a special place in my memories. I still hope that in some way its story gets connected to the other Xenoblade games, in some crazy or weird way, considering how open the ending is, with all the mysteries left unsolved. Also the fact that "Black Tar" lyrics describe perfectly what happens in the mini-sequel of Xenoblade 1, "Future Connected", that got released only years later, gives me a little hope. If it were ever to re-release on switch it would be a day one pickup and must replay for me, even if it really takes at least 200 hours, if you're not trying to max out your Skell and your character builds.
Spent so many hours on this game doing all the side quests and exploring the world, the music composed by Hiroyuki Sawano really draws you in. There is also a lot more about the combat system that many don't realise on their first playthrough as it isn't really explained. Once you grind your way through the different classes and arts you can setup infinite overdrive builds that essentially makes you uber OP. Now you can take on the creatures that you normally avoided even while in a skell.
To add to this, after completing the final branches in the classes you can use any combination of weapons, arts and augments to finetune the most incredible builds ever. Even without skells you can make a build where you're either strong enough to slap them giant brachiosauruses for massive damage or outlast them in an epic fight. Come to think of it, the fights in XCX can turn into such an epic dragonballz style experience its really amazing.
The best aspect is the combat system in my opinion way better than the other games. For example there is not a healer class by the traditional meanings but you can make one mixing weapons when you have completed the required classes and become an invincible monster while activating overdrive that also keep alive the party
This game definitely deserves to be remembered more fondly. I guess i would still love a dlc should this ever get a switch port that's a solo Elma story, the same way xenoblade definitive and 2 both got expansions.
@@gothard5 It's rather simple, really. just make the stuff that was accessible on the gamepad screen it's own option in the menu. I mean, you could play the whole game on the gamepad so it's very much within the realm of possibility that a switch port could happen. The only thing that's holding it back is that part of Monolithsoft is working on Tears of the Kingdom, but the ending to X lends itself to a sequel. I just hope that there is some sign that X gets a port because it being stuck on the Wii U is criminal.

Sylvalum Night Theme is probably the best song in video game game history. I'm so glad so brought it up! Noctilum Day is absolutely epic, and Primordia Day has so many little preambles before the theme kicks in, it's all just perfect. I can't understand how can someone disregard the music in this game. XCX is far superior to every other XC game in the series in every department.
It has 1 massive town that is ever changing. Even through side quests which i found far more interesting than a few cities with little interaction. There's also a substitute for a new town later which i'm not going to describe.
This game is special. It's not the usual J-RPG, They really tried something different and it worked. The main story is indeed kinda small, but X us about exploring, discovery. If you play through all the missions in the game, you will learn so much things, you will discover SO Many things... So many new characters and stories... And the best thing is that all of it comes together to be one big, deep and amazing story. Mira is a beautiful and incredible place. The most beautiful open world for me. The battle system is just perfect... And the music? OMG! It was very good. My favorites are definitely Sylvalum's night theme, and Cauldros.
This was my first Xenoblade therefore I didn't expect it to be like XC1 and I adored it. The atmosphere of each of the continents is just something else. Great asthetics, great music and fun to move around everywhere. Really every continent is memorable in a positive way (not you, Cauldros) The game has quite a few annoying and obvious flaws, but in terms of natures atmosphere honestly no other game compares to it.
This game being my first Xenoblade as well heightened my experience of the series as a whole. It is my favorite video game ever since Zelda majoras mask.
Well said, Xenoblade Chronicles X is my favorite game of all time and I'm happy that people are finally seeing what I saw. It's such a huge investment, and I feel like most people aren't looking for a game they have to actually play nowadays, but it's such a rewarding experience throughout. Almost every quest has different options which can lead to endings which then lead to unique quest chains. It's all so big and eventually you start to see crossover between other questlines and characters. Using the manual to figure out infinite overdrive, finding the way to maximize probes to finish the related quest, using mechanical skills to solve the pizza guy murder mystery, it's just so fascinating and well designed. I cannot recall any other games where I had such satisfying "aha" moments using just the tools given. Thanks for the video! Hoping for the day X2 comes out so more people can be part of the BLADE gang.
who the hell compared sawano's music to persona? sawano is a genius in his own right, wherever he goes quality pops out I regret selling this game with my wiiu. I still have the limited edition box, the atrwork book and the steel case, but I miss this game... It's been 3 years since I did my second run completing all the little details and finishing my skell build to take on the superbosses.

I also have 200+ hours in X and I didn't even know that Blood Lobster quest existed. I think that's really a testament to how much content is in this game.
Xenoblade X is probably the closest thing that gaming could ever get to a Final Fantasy 6-2 as an online action-RPG. Made by the best Final Fantasy talent; Elma is Terra as a confident adult, Primordia is the Veldt, Brainjack-to-ServantSacrifice is the Vanish-Doom combo but official and balanced, then there's the more obvious stuff, like Skells being Magitek armour, and Ether being Magic. The way that you don't need a "healer-class" was a really good move for an online game. Everyone is whatever combination of armourTank/agilityTank/DPS/Buffer/Debuffer they want to be, and Soul Voices make up the healing, and extra support depending on how the battle situation changes in real time. The game was really made for the Wii U, and should never come to the Switch as it is. A super minimal version maybe, one that's so cheap to make that they could give it out for free, might be possible, just to recap the events and maybe create an end-game file. Meanwhile, Monolith Soft ought to spend the bulk of their time and effort building a full-fledged Xenoblade X2 to continue the story where they left off.
Favorite game on the Wii U and one of my favorite games of all time, it’s hard for some to give games a second chance especially after such a bad first play I’m glad you saw this games potential and gave it another shot. Now if only we can get it ported before the shop shuts down indefinitely…

Glad to see this game get some love, i really enjoyed playing it, took it slow with story and spend a lot of time just doing secondary missions, probably one of the longest yet fun games i've ever played
Xenoblade Chronicles, I love exploring the whole world of Bionis (until Eryth Lake). But I couldn't manage to complete all the quests and such. Xenoblade Chronicles X is my favourite of the Xenoblade games because it takes what I loved about Xenoblade Chronicles and made it all much better. It was a much more expansive feeling game. While Xenoblade Chronicles was a novel, Xenoblade Chronicles X was a series of short stories that all fit into the context of the evolution of NLA on Mira. It's not my favourite "Xeno" game, as that goes to Xenogears. I do agree that Xenoblade Chronicles X has the best combat, I like the gameplay better than any other Xeno game. The premise of a human city trying to survive and thrive on an alien world is one of my favourite in video game history. If I was to rank everything: Favourite story: Xenogears. Favourite Cities: Xenogears Favourite world map: Xenoblade Chronicles X Favourite Cinematics: Xenosaga Episode 1 Favourite gameplay: Xenoblade Chronicles X Favourite premise: Xenogears Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2 rank highly in categories, even if they aren't my favourite in any.
XcX is truly amazing. Definateley the aqward middle child of the Xenoblade series but unique in its own way. Hope it gets the Switch treatment and can stand alongside its two sibling games ( and please put sound options in this time, the fact that the music drowns out the voices and you cant do anything about it is strange)
The battles in all the Xenoblade games are so much more enjoyable when you know what you're doing. If they do update and port Xenoblade X, I'll definitely be throwing my money at them. They had me at the giant transforming flying mechs.
Please do continue bringing up Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, it’s nice to see someone being nice to those games for once instead of having to recite the “rocky start into 3D” manifesto that always follows them around or the weird concessions people have to make about how every aspect of them is bad in some way for their position to be taken seriously. Really good video all around as well, bought X brand new a few months ago and finally have time to play it for the first time, and seeing what’s coming ahead without spoiling anything was really nice! I was hoping for a switch release myself but considering what was said about it costing too much to bring over, I’ll just go ahead and start going through it now instead so I don’t have to wait another potential few years ^^
I'll always remember the side quests and some of the funny dialogue choices in this game! It makes you really feel like you have an impact on the world you're playing in
More importantly I also feel like there's a very immersive connection to your place IN it. The gravity of being one of few surviving humans on an alien world trying to fight back- and survive extinction is just... wow. Most other games are like: "this is the world before us and here you come the big bad superhero who'd put things right because that their job." Not XCX, xenoblade X makes you feel small in a very large world filled with danger where you must fight frantically to head yourself afloat and you'll not be doing it alone, but as a part of a team, and for damn good reason.
I really hope they either port it or make a sequel to it I got X on my birthday when it came out as a child I had no clue what I was doing for like 3 months I literally couldn’t figure out how to start chapter 4, yeah the one you literally just talk to someone to start but I loved it and playing it again years later I still love it
Have you heard the squad select theme. The full song. It's criminal that it only exists on a screen you spend 5 seconds on. And i think one scene of a character's affinity storyline. I didn't even realize it was anything more than a short repeating track till a few hundred hours into playing.
I love X so much, it's one of my favorite games of all time. It was the first Xeno game I played and honestly none of the others have been able to live up to my expecations in comparison, haha. Glad to see people appreciating it, really wish they'd port it to a system that people actually own like the Switch
xenoblade x was my first encounter with the xenoblade series and i absolutely loved it. i was 14/15 at that time. you are literally doing gods work by defending this game. i don't know many people who like this game. mostly people really dislike it and it made me so sad how many people don't like this awesome game.
Great video! This game could benefit ALOT from a remaster + added dlc (like Xenoblade DE), they can add better tutorials, better side missions explanation, make recruiting party members from the main menu, better sound mixing.. very few nagging small things that can alleviate the game. Reminds me of Skyward Sword HD clearing the few problems the og game had.

Going to proselytize playing this on emulator, because the game is one of the most visually amazing games I've seen when played with the higher resolution/framerate and other graphical upgrades from the emulation. I just started yesterday and it's been pretty jaw-dropping. Edit: The emulated version also comes with a number of optional gameplay mods, including things like "turn off the skell flying music" (I also had the game for Wii U, though I never finished it at the time)
Some sidequests in this game are so good they could easily be part of any main story on a great RPG and I'm not talking about character side quests, but some "random npc" request, like Planetary Pioneer, the pizza plot or the Water Treatment one. Seriously, there are MANY great sidequests that helps building the new world and what different things ppl think about it
Best Open World game I played. It instigates you to explore. Jewel. This game doesn't even need a story, so good it feels. And I played solo. Didnt felt that empty world feeling other open world games have. It feels alive.
There being only one town does make sense but I wish we had more town building aspects for NLA. Didn't need to be supper complex just something like Ni No Kuni 2 where you had a town management system that you could build/upgrade and assign people to jobs.
I agree with this. When I got to the part where you do the mission quest for the water treatment plant I had hoped that was only one of multiple where you build up the empty spaces in NLA. There was so much potential to open up, build and make more out of NLA than we got, but at least we got soemthing akin to 'rebuilding' How many games dont even have that. Plus, still lets not forget that even the water treatment plant and NLA itself are just idle passer-by locations. No, they still have integral connections and worldbuilding activities to discover.
To this day it still, in my opinion, has one of the best open worlds of any video game, second only to BotW. There is so much to do, and it's very easy to get around if you find all the warp points and especially when you get a Skell. I still remember just running around, killing monsters, discovering new things, it was just a blast to run around in. It also helps that the combat was very addictive as well, and the music was just something else. I know there's some who say the music was a step down from the original, and while it is very different, I can't help but love it. Hell, I have Black Tar on my MP3 that I listen to every morning during my 30-minute exercise. I can't say much about the story as a whole since I never finished it before my WiiU went bust in 2016, but my playtime was well worth it.

man, I love this game, one of my favorites all time. I'm so glad more people are talking about it! One thing you could've mentioned is that if they ever port this to the switch, the online aspects of the game would breath new life, never really experienced this myself because I played it on an emulator. This game looks amazing on PC but c'mon, gotta be realistic, it'll never get a PC port. It does deserves to be on the Switch at least!
Hey guys tip I am a proud owner of a Wii U and I gotta say this game (I finished it 3 times) is 50 years ahead of its time and that time hasn’t even come it has world wide exploration,mechs,creatures,and a great storyline so if you have money too spend I recommend buying a Wii U and this game off eBay

Xenoblade x is one of my fav games ever. 14 yr old me played the shit out of this game and i explored every nook and cranny of mira. I loved eveey inch of it corniness and drama. Xenoblade X is camp to its core and thats what makes it special. I hope one day we can go back to that world in a port and/or a sequel. Mira was too grand and beautiful to just throw away.
I think most people praising Breath of the Wild's world design don't realize that the topography of that game's world was actually designed by Monolith Soft. They are masters of world creation.
X is my favorite game of all time, and was my proper introduction to the Xenoblade series, so it makes me very happy whenever people talk about it, great video.
As an aside, sorry for the double comment, there are a lot of interesting references to XC1 in XCX, including collectables, dialogue (especially dialogue with Nopon), Quest items (Looking at you sword of Legendaryness), and some some locations like the floating Reef in Oblivia. Now, if you watch the reveal trailer for XC3, in the landscape shots section there are some interesting visuals that really bring to mind areas from XCX, the most notable being Oblivia and Primordia. My theory is that Mira is actually the XC3 world far into the future. There are some holes in the theory, but until we know more about XC3 there's not much we can say to prove or disprove it. And maybe, if we're lucky, Monolith will use it as an opportunity to bring remaster XCX on the switch and elevate it to the level of future main game sequel but not quite numbered entry status.
Just started the other day on it, and I intend to marathon the other Xenoblade games on the Switch. One thing I noticed and how I described it to my friends, based on the quest progression, character creation and exploration, is that this game's a single-player MMORPG.
The Skell Flight theme should only play after you've reached a certain altitude. I think that'd be a great middle ground. Play at at a height where you're pretty much detached from the world.
Every battle shot in this video made me clench - because I kept focusing on the appendages and how you didnt lock them XD. the thing about this game is that most people dont even know how to use its systems properly. i think it was my 3rd playthrough where i learnt that i can even target and lock on to different appendages, and how to use overdrive. not to mention augments.
Finally getting around to watching the video, and finally finding someone with a proper take on the game, centering around the idea that X shouldn't be judged for something it was never intended to be. It plays so differently to other games and many were left disappointed because it didn't meet expectations in those departments
One of the best WiiU Games that needs a switch port! I remember you could combine weapons from diffrent classes later on when you maxed out the class. Only thing i really hated was the amount of money you need to spend for the mechs. xD
This game is awesome. The fact that there is no fall damage is like playing the hulk. It's awesome. The music overall is really good. The skells take it to another level. Definitely a day one purchase is ever ported to the switch
The funny thing with the fall damage. Even though Elma says it in the beginning "You'll survive the fall" I didn't think she meant that as in letterally there not being fall damage. So when inevitably I launched myself off one of them HIGH cliffs relatively shortly after I had already dropped my controller thinking 'yeah this is where I die for the first time'... only to find out I didn't. I audibly gasped when I realized.
After staying up til 4am playing Xenoblade 3 side content, I realized I didn't give X the chance it deserved, and you confirmed that. If I ever make enough time I will I will try X out one more time.
This is one of my favourite games of all time, I was so hyped when it came out like I've never been before and haven't been since. I hope there will be a Switch port at some point.
I started playing XC Wii on my WiiU, never got past the part where the character leaves your party in the very beginning (avoiding spoilers). I got Xenoblade Chronicles X, the collector’s edition and the game is still shrink wrapped on my shelf. Finally got a Switch a couple months ago (OLED model) and decided to finally play through the first game as well as 2 (in anticipation for 3 coming out this year). Really glad I waited, because I feel the Definitive Edition is definitely the way to play the game. Really going to have to fire up the WiiU again and play X. It looks awesome. Thanks for the video 👍
XCX is my favorite game world. And it has so many memorable side quests. The classes are so fun, and it has FLYING MECHs. XC2 while being an upgrade to XC1, is a gameplay downgrade from XCX, the lack of breakable parts, positioning gone back to guessing, enemy detection style (auditory and sight) gone. Also regarding the backlash of XC2 sexualization, XC1 and XCX has the option to hide it. XCX especially gave you the best costume system with fashion gear. XC2 conflate sexualization with light hearted, and the sexualization is extremely one-sided. It is not like XC1 where objectification is unavoidable. Also sexualization is fetish-like and never addressed. Xenosaga and gears have the balls to actually have character have sex with their partners and discuss sexual abuse plus unhealthy relationships. XC2's sexualization is pandering and took a head in the sand approach to any nuance discussion regarding sex.
Well lets be honest here, people that complain about some game being sexualized may first want to have their heads straightened. That is very much a real-life society problem. Also, I dont understand why its such a big deal... we practise it in our own real lives, but media all of a sudden cant? some people are just stupid is all I can say.

Same for me. It was already my favorite game of all time when i was terrible at combat but i am replaying it at the moment and am much better at the game now. Now i love it even more.

It's absolutely fantastic. It's totally it's own thing but borrows what we know and love from it's (then precious) other games. This game is criminally underrated and got a raw deal being put on Wii U. No one bought a Wii U for JRPGs - well - no one bought a Wii U. It’s a shame it’s basically the only great game left to rot on Wii U and Monolith Soft doesn’t seem interested in porting it’s to Switch. It deserves a better chance

I think putting a game on PC would be a great experiment for Nintendo and this would be one of best games for it. That certainly would've helped this game back in 2015.

I can agree with you that the Story wasnt as detailed as in XC1 or XC2 but it was still a great Story with amazing Characters and even more amazing Plot Twists. And the World Building was Top Notch, 100% super creative. To be Honest, I like the Story of XCX way more then XC2 Story, because XC2 was just the same Story as XC1 in the end and the Characters were way too goofy

Xenoblade X is my favorite of the Xenoblade games!
XCX the Majora's Mask of the series, where most character stories are side content. With that said, it's probably my favorite entry in the series. The main story isn't bad, it gets you going to where you need to go much like a third rail, once you reach certain gates more and more begins to unlock.
Watching NLA grow and thrive over the course of the game was lowkey special. Never have I come across a world as immersive as the one Mira provided.

I’d love for there to be a Xenoblade mmo though i’d like it to still have that xenoblade spirit. Imo that would mean more like an EverQuest type game with the Xenoblade combat over a FFXIV style game. Hopefully it eventually happens even though it would probably be flooded with micro transactions.
I'd be over the moon even with a straight port, but they could do a lot better. Imagine them adding another continent or two, underwater exploration, and actual vehicles. Could have a specialized Skell for underwater stuff. Oh, and more sky islands! Perhaps a whole ass sky floating continent. Maybe an underground cave system? They could take the opportunity to blow TotK out of the water.

Really spot on. XBX was my 1st and favorite Xenogame. In my opinion it has the best soundtrack of the series as well.
Now is also the time to get into X before the Wii U shop channel closes and you won't be able to download the free datapacks to help with loading any more.
X is also the game which brought me to the Xenoblade series and I think that it's combat system is really on level with lategame 2 and Torna.
Edit: The big moon jumps were awesome, and the sprint button was sorely missed in XC2. But X really does it's verticality really well.
Mod your Wii U (and you will have access to all the games xD if you haven't you're doing life wrong, also it's available on the PC via emulation and looks amazing upscaled to 4k and even some lovely filters you can apply and of course 60fps :-)
You won't actually need the data packs if you hack your Wii U, dump the game, and emulate it, or install the game digitally. The data packs were needed because the Wii U physically could not read the disk fast enough.
also those are not random NPCs those are the avatars from other players if you scout them by adding them to your party the other player will get rewards and you get blade medals to enter and fight the global nemesis. X has online game play boss fights, missions with other players or friends, and also passive missions where you are placed in a squad and everyone is collecting items or hunting enemies for rewards.
Best Xenoblade series, because Sawano’s music made this game even better. The game is so epic. I’ll get xc3 but this is the XC series I want on my switch.

The video is definitely running on Cemu not Wii U, it’s still great in Wii but it’s incredible with emulator.
This game holds a special place in my memories. I still hope that in some way its story gets connected to the other Xenoblade games, in some crazy or weird way, considering how open the ending is, with all the mysteries left unsolved. Also the fact that "Black Tar" lyrics describe perfectly what happens in the mini-sequel of Xenoblade 1, "Future Connected", that got released only years later, gives me a little hope. If it were ever to re-release on switch it would be a day one pickup and must replay for me, even if it really takes at least 200 hours, if you're not trying to max out your Skell and your character builds.
Spent so many hours on this game doing all the side quests and exploring the world, the music composed by Hiroyuki Sawano really draws you in.
There is also a lot more about the combat system that many don't realise on their first playthrough as it isn't really explained. Once you grind your way through the different classes and arts you can setup infinite overdrive builds that essentially makes you uber OP. Now you can take on the creatures that you normally avoided even while in a skell.
To add to this, after completing the final branches in the classes you can use any combination of weapons, arts and augments to finetune the most incredible builds ever. Even without skells you can make a build where you're either strong enough to slap them giant brachiosauruses for massive damage or outlast them in an epic fight.
Come to think of it, the fights in XCX can turn into such an epic dragonballz style experience its really amazing.
Fully agreed. I hope that Xenoblade 3 ends a trilogy and set up X, so next Monolith finally returns to X universe.
The best aspect is the combat system in my opinion way better than the other games. For example there is not a healer class by the traditional meanings but you can make one mixing weapons when you have completed the required classes and become an invincible monster while activating overdrive that also keep alive the party

I'm fully convinced that Xenoblade X was originally suppose to be a MMORPG that they changed to a single player.

@@gothard5 It's rather simple, really. just make the stuff that was accessible on the gamepad screen it's own option in the menu. I mean, you could play the whole game on the gamepad so it's very much within the realm of possibility that a switch port could happen. The only thing that's holding it back is that part of Monolithsoft is working on Tears of the Kingdom, but the ending to X lends itself to a sequel. I just hope that there is some sign that X gets a port because it being stuck on the Wii U is criminal.

Sylvalum Night Theme is probably the best song in video game game history. I'm so glad so brought it up! Noctilum Day is absolutely epic, and Primordia Day has so many little preambles before the theme kicks in, it's all just perfect. I can't understand how can someone disregard the music in this game. XCX is far superior to every other XC game in the series in every department.
It has 1 massive town that is ever changing. Even through side quests which i found far more interesting than a few cities with little interaction. There's also a substitute for a new town later which i'm not going to describe.
This game is special. It's not the usual J-RPG, They really tried something different and it worked. The main story is indeed kinda small, but X us about exploring, discovery. If you play through all the missions in the game, you will learn so much things, you will discover SO Many things... So many new characters and stories... And the best thing is that all of it comes together to be one big, deep and amazing story. Mira is a beautiful and incredible place. The most beautiful open world for me. The battle system is just perfect... And the music? OMG! It was very good. My favorites are definitely Sylvalum's night theme, and Cauldros.
This was my first Xenoblade therefore I didn't expect it to be like XC1 and I adored it.
The atmosphere of each of the continents is just something else. Great asthetics, great music and fun to move around everywhere. Really every continent is memorable in a positive way (not you, Cauldros)
The game has quite a few annoying and obvious flaws, but in terms of natures atmosphere honestly no other game compares to it.
This game being my first Xenoblade as well heightened my experience of the series as a whole. It is my favorite video game ever since Zelda majoras mask.

Well said, Xenoblade Chronicles X is my favorite game of all time and I'm happy that people are finally seeing what I saw. It's such a huge investment, and I feel like most people aren't looking for a game they have to actually play nowadays, but it's such a rewarding experience throughout. Almost every quest has different options which can lead to endings which then lead to unique quest chains. It's all so big and eventually you start to see crossover between other questlines and characters.
Using the manual to figure out infinite overdrive, finding the way to maximize probes to finish the related quest, using mechanical skills to solve the pizza guy murder mystery, it's just so fascinating and well designed. I cannot recall any other games where I had such satisfying "aha" moments using just the tools given.

Xenoblade X is probably the closest thing that gaming could ever get to a Final Fantasy 6-2 as an online action-RPG. Made by the best Final Fantasy talent; Elma is Terra as a confident adult, Primordia is the Veldt, Brainjack-to-ServantSacrifice is the Vanish-Doom combo but official and balanced, then there's the more obvious stuff, like Skells being Magitek armour, and Ether being Magic.
The way that you don't need a "healer-class" was a really good move for an online game. Everyone is whatever combination of armourTank/agilityTank/DPS/Buffer/Debuffer they want to be, and Soul Voices make up the healing, and extra support depending on how the battle situation changes in real time.
The game was really made for the Wii U, and should never come to the Switch as it is. A super minimal version maybe, one that's so cheap to make that they could give it out for free, might be possible, just to recap the events and maybe create an end-game file. Meanwhile, Monolith Soft ought to spend the bulk of their time and effort building a full-fledged Xenoblade X2 to continue the story where they left off.
Favorite game on the Wii U and one of my favorite games of all time, it’s hard for some to give games a second chance especially after such a bad first play I’m glad you saw this games potential and gave it another shot. Now if only we can get it ported before the shop shuts down indefinitely…

Glad to see this game get some love, i really enjoyed playing it, took it slow with story and spend a lot of time just doing secondary missions, probably one of the longest yet fun games i've ever played
Xenoblade Chronicles, I love exploring the whole world of Bionis (until Eryth Lake). But I couldn't manage to complete all the quests and such.
Xenoblade Chronicles X is my favourite of the Xenoblade games because it takes what I loved about Xenoblade Chronicles and made it all much better. It was a much more expansive feeling game. While Xenoblade Chronicles was a novel, Xenoblade Chronicles X was a series of short stories that all fit into the context of the evolution of NLA on Mira. It's not my favourite "Xeno" game, as that goes to Xenogears. I do agree that Xenoblade Chronicles X has the best combat, I like the gameplay better than any other Xeno game.
The premise of a human city trying to survive and thrive on an alien world is one of my favourite in video game history.

The battles in all the Xenoblade games are so much more enjoyable when you know what you're doing. If they do update and port Xenoblade X, I'll definitely be throwing my money at them. They had me at the giant transforming flying mechs.
Please do continue bringing up Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, it’s nice to see someone being nice to those games for once instead of having to recite the “rocky start into 3D” manifesto that always follows them around or the weird concessions people have to make about how every aspect of them is bad in some way for their position to be taken seriously.
Really good video all around as well, bought X brand new a few months ago and finally have time to play it for the first time, and seeing what’s coming ahead without spoiling anything was really nice! I'll always remember the side quests and some of the funny dialogue choices in this game! It makes you really feel like you have an impact on the world you're playing in
More importantly I also feel like there's a very immersive connection to your place IN it. The gravity of being one of few surviving humans on an alien world trying to fight back- and survive extinction is just... wow.
Most other games are like: "this is the world before us and here you come the big bad superhero who'd put things right because that their job."
Not XCX, xenoblade X makes you feel small in a very large world filled with danger where you must fight frantically to head yourself afloat and you'll not be doing it alone, but as a part of a team, and for damn good reason.
I really hope they either port it or make a sequel to it I got X on my birthday when it came out as a child I had no clue what I was doing for like 3 months I literally couldn’t figure out how to start chapter 4, yeah the one you literally just talk to someone to start but I loved it and playing it again years later I still love it
Have you heard the squad select theme. The full song. It's criminal that it only exists on a screen you spend 5 seconds on. And i think one scene of a character's affinity storyline. I didn't even realize it was anything more than a short repeating track till a few hundred hours into playing.
I love X so much, it's one of my favorite games of all time. It was the first Xeno game I played and honestly none of the others have been able to live up to my expecations in comparison, haha. Glad to see people appreciating it, really wish they'd port it to a system that people actually own like the Switch
xenoblade x was my first encounter with the xenoblade series and i absolutely loved it. i was 14/15 at that time. you are literally doing gods work by defending this game. i don't know many people who like this game. mostly people really dislike it and it made me so sad how many people don't like this awesome game.

This game could benefit ALOT from a remaster + added dlc (like Xenoblade DE), they can add better tutorials, better side missions explanation, make recruiting party members from the main menu, better sound mixing.. very few nagging small things that can alleviate the game. Reminds me of Skyward Sword HD clearing the few problems the og game had.
And finishing the game instead of leaving of us on that ending.

Going to proselytize playing this on emulator, because the game is one of the most visually amazing games I've seen when played with the higher resolution/framerate and other graphical upgrades from the emulation. I just started yesterday and it's been pretty jaw-dropping.
Edit: The emulated version also comes with a number of optional gameplay mods, including things like "turn off the skell flying music"
(I also had the game for Wii U, though I never finished it at the time)
Some sidequests in this game are so good they could easily be part of any main story on a great RPG and I'm not talking about character side quests, but some "random npc" request, like Planetary Pioneer, the pizza plot or the Water Treatment one. Seriously, there are MANY great sidequests that helps building the new world and what different things ppl think about it

Best Open World game I played. It instigates you to explore. Jewel. This game doesn't even need a story, so good it feels. And I played solo. Didnt felt that empty world feeling other open world games have. It feels alive.
There being only one town does make sense but I wish we had more town building aspects for NLA. Didn't need to be supper complex just something like Ni No Kuni 2 where you had a town management system that you could build/upgrade and assign people to jobs.
I agree with this. When I got to the part where you do the mission quest for the water treatment plant I had hoped that was only one of multiple where you build up the empty spaces in NLA. There was so much potential to open up, build and make more out of NLA than we got, but at least we got soemthing akin to 'rebuilding' How many games dont even have that.
Plus, still lets not forget that even the water treatment plant and NLA itself are just idle passer-by locations. No, they still have integral connections and worldbuilding activities to discover.
To this day it still, in my opinion, has one of the best open worlds of any video game, second only to BotW. There is so much to do, and it's very easy to get around if you find all the warp points and especially when you get a Skell. I still remember just running around, killing monsters, discovering new things, it was just a blast to run around in. It also helps that the combat was very addictive as well, and the music was just something else. I know there's some who say the music was a step down from the original, and while it is very different, I can't help but love it. Hell, I have Black Tar on my MP3 that I listen to every morning during my 30-minute exercise. I can't say much about the story as a whole since I never finished it before my WiiU went bust in 2016, but my playtime was well worth it.

Xenoblade x is one of my fav games ever. 14 yr old me played the shit out of this game and i explored every nook and cranny of mira. I loved eveey inch of it corniness and drama. Xenoblade X is camp to its core and thats what makes it special. I hope one day we can go back to that world in a port and/or a sequel. Mira was too grand and beautiful to just throw away.
I think most people praising Breath of the Wild's world design don't realize that the topography of that game's world was actually designed by Monolith Soft. They are masters of world creation.
X is my favorite game of all time, and was my proper introduction to the Xenoblade series, so it makes me very happy whenever people talk about it, great video.
As an aside, sorry for the double comment, there are a lot of interesting references to XC1 in XCX, including collectables, dialogue (especially dialogue with Nopon), Quest items (Looking at you sword of Legendaryness), and some some locations like the floating Reef in Oblivia.
Now, if you watch the reveal trailer for XC3, in the landscape shots section there are some interesting visuals that really bring to mind areas from XCX, the most notable being Oblivia and Primordia. My theory is that Mira is actually the XC3 world far into the future. There are some holes in the theory, but until we know more about XC3 there's not much we can say to prove or disprove it.
And maybe, if we're lucky, Monolith will use it as an opportunity to bring remaster XCX on the switch and elevate it to the level of future main game sequel but not quite numbered entry status.

The Skell Flight theme should only play after you've reached a certain altitude. I think that'd be a great middle ground. Play at at a height where you're pretty much detached from the world.

the thing about this game is that most people dont even know how to use its systems properly. i think it was my 3rd playthrough where i learnt that i can even target and lock on to different appendages, and how to use overdrive. not to mention augments.

Finally getting around to watching the video, and finally finding someone with a proper take on the game, centering around the idea that X shouldn't be judged for something it was never intended to be. It plays so differently to other games and many were left disappointed because it didn't meet expectations in those departments

I remember you could combine weapons from diffrent classes later on when you maxed out the class.
Only thing i really hated was the amount of money you need to spend for the mechs. xD
Overdrive combos with Ether Blossom Dance build doing 9999999 damage was awesome after mastering it.
This game is awesome. The fact that there is no fall damage is like playing the hulk. It's awesome. The music overall is really good. The skells take it to another level. Definitely a day one purchase is ever ported to the switch
The funny thing with the fall damage. Even though Elma says it in the beginning "You'll survive the fall" I didn't think she meant that as in letterally there not being fall damage. So when inevitably I launched myself off one of them HIGH cliffs relatively shortly after I had already dropped my controller thinking 'yeah this is where I die for the first time'... only to find out I didn't.

After staying up til 4am playing Xenoblade 3 side content, I realized I didn't give X the chance it deserved, and you confirmed that. If I ever make enough time I will I will try X out one more time.
This is one of my favourite games of all time, I was so hyped when it came out like I've never been before and haven't been since. I hope there will be a Switch port at some point.
XCX is an awesome open world game. Once you figure out your gameplay style out its an truly awesome experience.
It's a hard call. Keep hoping for a switch release in the next year, or get it now before the wii u store closes and may effect updates or dlc
My first xenoblade game, I played it as a kid. Must go back to it sometime
I started playing XC Wii on my WiiU, never got past the part where the character leaves your party in the very beginning (avoiding spoilers). I got Xenoblade Chronicles X, the collector’s edition and the game is still shrink wrapped on my shelf. Finally got a Switch a couple months ago (OLED model) and decided to finally play through the first game as well as 2 (in anticipation for 3 coming out this year). Really glad I waited, because I feel the Definitive Edition is definitely the way to play the game. Really going to have to fire up the WiiU again and play X. It looks awesome. Thanks for the video 👍
XCX is my favorite game world. And it has so many memorable side quests.
The classes are so fun, and it has FLYING MECHs.
XC2 while being an upgrade to XC1, is a gameplay downgrade from XCX, the lack of breakable parts, positioning gone back to guessing, enemy detection style (auditory and sight) gone.
Also regarding the backlash of XC2 sexualization, XC1 and XCX has the option to hide it. XCX especially gave you the best costume system with fashion gear.
XC2 conflate sexualization with light hearted, and the sexualization is extremely one-sided. It is not like XC1 where objectification is unavoidable. Also sexualization is fetish-like and never addressed. Xenosaga and gears have the balls to actually have character have sex with their partners and discuss sexual abuse plus unhealthy relationships. XC2's sexualization is pandering and took a head in the sand approach to any nuance discussion regarding sex.

I think you mean to say the objectification in XC1 is avoidable.
Well lets be honest here, people that complain about some game being sexualized may first want to have their heads straightened. That is very much a real-life society problem.
Also, I dont understand why its such a big deal... we practise it in our own real lives, but media all of a sudden cant? some people are just stupid is all I can say.
