There is no universal agreement on how to find Q1 and Q3. Here is what the calculator does: 1. Use the computed median to divide the ordered data into two halves. Do not include the median into the halves. In our case the media is not a data point so this makes no difference. 2. The lower quartile value is the median of the lower half of the data which has 6 data points. The upper quartile value is the median of the upper half of the data which has 6 data points. How do you enter data if it is in the form of ranges vs frequencies. Do I come up with a median within the range?
