There's a funny scene in _Dead Man's Party_ in which Giles hits a pedestrian with his car, gets out to find that it's a zombie and he's surrounded by them, and barely gets back in the car only to realize he's dropped his keys. His reaction? "Oh, good show, Giles!" He escapes by hotwiring the car. "Like riding a bloody bicycle!"
Ive been trying to get my best friend to watch Buffy for months, and I sent her this cause there isnt really any spoilers and Giles is my favorite character, and now shes watching it because of this 😂😂
It was the point in the series where he went from being the exasperated mentor who could more easily avoid these kids outside of school hours to becoming the reluctant father figure who is even more exasperated because they're now showing up at his house and invading his personal life.
You forgot one of his best scenes when he is tackled to the ground and they think he is an ancient evil. "Wait. You think I'm evil if I bring a group of girls on a camping trip and don't touch them?"
Of course you'd feel that way if you didn't see your favourite character often enough.... Doesn't mean it really went downhill. Plus, the actor wanted some time off himself.
@@yevgeniyaleshchenko849 That's actually not why I feel like it went down hill. The writing got weird, season six was terrible, Spike trying to assault Buffy came out of no where and then continuing to have them as a ship/someone Buffy was okay being around in season seven was asinine. It's not just because Giles wasn't there. The writers made some really stupid choices. No show is perfect, and most go down hill towards the end. But it could have ended with season five and been a nearly perfect show. Or if the musical episode was the final episode I would have been more content than I was watching beyond that. It peaked with that episode then went down hill beyond it. Glory was also an impossible act to beat. Having Warren's group be the baddies was the biggest downgrade ever.
Me in high school: gosh it’s almost as if I have a crush on Giles! Ridiculous, omg he’s so olldddddd 15 years later having mostly dated older men: searching “Giles being hot compilation” on TH-cam
I don't know if it was intentional, really hope it was, that the music in the background is Danse Macabre, which was the theme tune to Jonathan Creek, which Anthony Head was in the pilot for and was the show he ended up not appearing in so he could take the job on Buffy 😁
Giles, dear boy, so many years of education in British schools and what happened to your mandatory joint handwriting? 😉 (Fellow Brits should understand) 😉
Can we appreciate that how Giles seems a gentle bookworm type but was able to aptly duel a skeleton with a sword at the drop of a hat?
I'm still waiting for a Ripper series!
@@lapislazuli5035 I would watch the hell outta that!!! Now I want it. How is this not a thing?
It's been said that the quiet and mild-mannered types are the ones who are the most dangerous and threatening when pushed far enough.
He also had no memory there as well
He was after all nicknamed Ripper
Being a teenager and crushing on Spike, only to grow up and realise Giles was the true hottie/baddie all along.
I am NOT ashamed to admit that I have my own teacher variation on 'Wasn't here, didn't see it, couldn't have stopped you.'
That seems advisable for any teacher to have, lol
I’m also a teacher, and yep. Some things we just don’t want to have to deal with.
My favourite will always be when Xander asked if he was right and he said I'm almost certain you're not, but to be fair, I wasn't listening.
a fave of mine too!

"And try not to bleed on my coach I just had it steam cleaned" One of my favourites 👌
The emotional maturity of a blueberry scone...... Damn
If that doesn't define Wesley during his Buffy/early Angel seasons then I don't know what does. 😂😂😂
Alternatively most of this could be titled Giles being incredibly attractive for x minutes.
You are not wrong and that is a valid Alternative title XD
honestly yea
Glad to see I am not the only one who think he is a hunk

Yes? Giles is hot, get over it
He’s both an adorkable nerd and a total badass at the same time I love this guy. 😂😂😂

This will be my legacy :D Possibly one of the BEST compliments I could ever receive!! Thank you to both you and your friend!!
Goated W friend! ❤
You tricked your friend into thinking that BTVS is all fun and giggles... good job 👏
“If it is to scrub those hard to reach areas I request you kill me now.” 😂😂😂
Followed by a slightly annoyed "ow." 😂
After Angel S05 I see the "You're not helping." "I know, I feel just sick about it." scene quite differently.
Damn it, Giles!
The older I get the more Giles goes from Dad to Daddy.
I've been massively and passively in love with Giles since I was 17
Giles is the best character
Agreed!
so true!!!
Dear Anthony, no one could have been a better Giles. 😄
The writers, amazing. The cast for delivering, geniuses!
Try not to bleed on my couch, i just had it steam cleaned...
Yeaaah 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
“And you have the emotional maturity of a blueberry scone”
😂😂😂😂.
That line gives me the same vibe Hermione said to Ron that he had the same emotional range of a teaspoon 😀😂
Never thought i needed a 40-something british man saying "fruit roll-ups" but here we are
The "Fort Dix" one gets me every time. 😂😂😂
I remember one scene with Giles where he sings "Behind blue eyes"
He is such a good singer!
Beautiful voice!! 😍
HUSBAND VIBES OFF THE CHARTS
Giles became more American as the seasons progressed... 😂😂😂😂😂
Which makes sense...he's English in real life - superb acting.
I just always assumed it was the “council” falling away and watcher and ripper merging.
This tells me that Season 4 had the most epic Giles moments.
It was the point in the series where he went from being the exasperated mentor who could more easily avoid these kids outside of school hours to becoming the reluctant father figure who is even more exasperated because they're now showing up at his house and invading his personal life.
And these are reasons why Giles remains my favorite character.
0:20 seeing Alyson dressed like that was the moment I officially fell in love with her ❤️
That last line, sung by Giles, may be the best line from the whole series!
Getting that episode of Ripper was heartbreaking for the sole fact I wanted so much more of it than we got.
I...love this so much. Gave me such a grin.
You forgot one of his best scenes when he is tackled to the ground and they think he is an ancient evil.
"Wait. You think I'm evil if I bring a group of girls on a camping trip and don't touch them?"
Reading the comments, I'm glad to see you ladies responding to 'scholarly bad ass' rizz.
A great character, I also appreciate the way that Wesley evolved throughout the two series.
I honestly feel like the show went down hill when he wasn't there as often....He's my absolute favorite character.

dude, seriously, g is the best
Some girls are in love with Spike. I’m in love with Giles.
It is ok to love them both😅
Giles pulling a chainsaw out of his bag never gets old
That was so so good!!!
did he just manifest a chainsaw out of a bag of holding?
Mary Poppins bag. Available at all good British supermarkets.
The second I saw the intro, I was like, yep he’s gonna be my favourite character
delightful edit XD
Everyone needs a Giles, just like everyone needs a Mr. Feeney
and a Kitt to their Michael Knight, maybe their related lol
Just loving his love of cream in this show.
Glad dad is doing well
The fort fix one is my favorite 🤣
Where is the “that’s the most apauling thing you could have said” one from?
It's from the beginning of Hush when Anya calls Olivia his "orgasm friend"
"You smell like fruit roll ups"
Wonderful!
The bit with Jenny made me tear up for him...
Okay I gotta ask, what magical portal did Giles pull a chainsaw out of, because there is no way it was in that duffle bag?!
0:50 this is the best 😂😂😂😂
The overhead protector!!!
Actually, the music Giles play at the begining is "Faust", very appropriate!
Danse Macabre by Saint-Saëns
I cant believe it's uther from merlin
He also played Dr. Frankenfurter in Rocky Horror in England lol :D

Giles is awesome, love him but what's the background music?
It's a variation on Danse Macabre (the music Giles plays during his presentation in Hush)
Not exactly “out of context” but still hilarious.
With or without context, the whole show is wild and wonderful!
Dam Giles
The Best Fictional Character There Is, Was, and Ever Will Be!
