Thanks so very much for posting this on TH-cam. What great memories - wish I were back there and back then again! Those of us who grew up in this area hold fond memories of this special place and time - some of mine are:- when you were "square" if you didn't have a black wetsuit and a white board !! - putting on a cold & wet wetsuit that hadn't dried from the day before (OK - that one may not be so fond !) - Sunrise: early mornings at PV Cove, Indicator, "Ski Jump" (is it still called that?), Haggerty's / Rat Beach Grew up in Palos Verdes in the 70s. No longer live there, but it will always be with me and a part of who I am. Went to Margate Jr HS at the top of Via Coronel, graduated from PV High School in '77.
Wow, that brings back some old memories. I recall climbing down the cliff to Hags in the dark to get in some waves before school. Do you remember the naked guy who used to surf the Cove?
LOL! I remember these spots and some of the surfers. Even saw the original footage back when it was film in a projector. That was a LONG time ago. Thanks for the upload!
Sorry, I'm unable to figure out TH-cam's PM. *banghead*. I'm a nobody, but surfed, skated, & partied with people from PV, RH, & the South Bay in the '70's & '80's. Epic times, Epic people.
Terry, thanks so much for posting these... Not only seeing Wally and all you guys, but this is some of the best footage I have of Myself...That was such a great time in my life!! I had good SW Barrels yesterday!! Surf to Live! Heavin' Steven
surfed haggertys early 81 with Reece, a loCAL and the first guy i ever saw pull off a 360, was staying at Pacific St Torrance. John NZ.. Thanks 4 posting
Remember walking down through the mud and field to check the surf and seeing this guy with an 8 mm camera sitting in his car shotgun .. We smiled at each other and here I am ..6:08-6:18.. Cool.
Very good film footage, and excellent surfing by all. Comments: * Cool school of dolphins at 1:10 * Knee Boarder at 2:50 * Nice drop in at 4:05 * Good little barrel at 4:20 :) * Wally at 5:00 * The Indicator at 7:20? Keller Beyer
@tuskedbeast I was thinking the same thing... in those same set of conditions today more than half the waves would be blown by kooks trying (and failing) to surf like pros. bouncy, bouncy... cool video
