Now this is what he Jersey culture. People always be sleepin on Jersey and the culture. Jersey really reminds me of the Midwest. Very creative, soulful and laidback
Great house music, great times, parties, college days late 80's and early 90s! And so many clubs to go and move jump jack your body! Miss those days!!!
@@robertm3951 The premise behind my statement was not that NJ isn't banging (and that is a matter of opinion and for the record, I'm into NEW music and heavily connected to a lot of producers and artists who make NEW House music). It's that this period/era laid the foundation for all that was to come afterward and it should be respected. Those who were not a part of it will never understand how far-reaching, the amount of media attention and major record label signings both in the US and in the UK of these local NJ/NY recording artists/producers received that will never be witnessed again in this current era and at that magnitude. This current NJ so-called House music culture is NOT diverse as it once was ie,, the people, personalities, fashion, art, uninhibitedness, the creativity, freedom (without judgment or shade as we used to say) that diversity is GONE! It has become very homogenized and ultra clannish. I agree NEW MUSIC is VITAL, NEEDED and IMPORTANT, however, to focus solely on ONE TYPE of Soulful House Music and dismissing all other variations of Soulful House Music only demonstrates the parochial mindset of the current HOUSE music culture (which is made of mostly 40s to late 50-year-old NA black folks who were deep in their addiction to remember this period or the 90's and early 2000's (1990-2003) when there was DIVERSITY in the music and I am NOT referring to '70s or '80s dance "classics" or "classic House Music" either.)

I grew up in North Newark and the Zanzibar had the best sound system in the east coast

New Jersey started garage house music before UK took our sound. It's time we bring it back.
Exactly
Incorrect it was originally disco and then club/klub and later house music.
This is the period that all these so-called current NJ underground club heads missed! They think they know...they really don't.
Looks like we meet in all the cool spots!!!
:)
NJ is still banging. If you are not into new music then you are missing out
