He’s a rockstar. His quick thinking and organizing saved lives for sure. He was at the right place at the right time. Those folks are very lucky.
I really liked his self reflective and very present words, " I'm really grateful I was where I was when I was, and not a moment earlier." Soooooo true and profound. ❤
Wait a minute...this guy saved a women buried under snow and they didn't even talk about it? I listened to the woman's story and cried, I was very interested in hearing his account and they skipped over it. Guy is very humble. I'm so glad the people on the lift saw her get swept down so they knew where to look.🙌
I don't think he was the one who pulled her out. He mentioned that the husband was looking for her but someone said, I think, that they saw her form the chairlift and she was way down.
Thank-you for your help ! I’m sure it saved lives !!! 😊No greater thank-you than to save a life !😊
Great interview Marcus! Your explanation of what went down was Exalent. It was a blessing to Palisades to have you on site. God bless you.
Thank you, Markus.
My condolences… prayers 🙏for the families, friends and loved ones..
He's got avi training.... probably never thought he'd need these skills at a mega resort!!
Great commentary, unfortunate event. Nature is a great humbler!
Awesome job Marcus! Miss my Santa Cruz stomping grounds 💙
Marcus is a great man. 👍 🏂
wear the BCG anytime conditions are bad
Typical media is looking for scandal and guilt. Marcus continues to say everyone did their jobs and this talking head is so disappointed!
Isn't ski patrol responsible for avalanche mitigation? No opening day assessment of possible avalanche conditions.
If this happened on an "in bounds" ski area then Palisades (Better known as Squaw Valley) management needs to review their avalanche mitigation procedures.
RIP unfortunate/unaware skier.
ah Squaw thanks
What did she mean by “right behind the person who triggered the avalanche”? How would a person trigger an avalanche?
by skiing?
@@andrewdinns1746 thank you, I didn’t realize a skier could trigger an avalanche. I thought it was usually triggered by too much snow on a very steep mountain and/or high winds.
On steep runs sometimes when a person skis over it perpendicular to the fall line (path straight down) the skis cut the top layer of snow and it peels off the mountain. I've seen it happen once and is pretty scary.
@@Patsay9053Well, you are correct in that’s how the potential energy builds up (weight of the overhanging snow), but they are implying that a skier played a role in releasing that energy. The straw that broke the camels back, so to speak.
Thank you for asking my question! I had no idea a Skier can trigger an avi? I thought it was Mother Nature in charge? a Surfer trigger a tsunami? 🌊 🙊. What did the skier do to trigger it?
A very dry cold December makes for icy underlayment, sudden heavy wet snowstorms on top makes for avalanches everywhere. This is well known to mountain dwellers worldwide, not so much to city folk going for $ki trip$. Avalanche backpacks should be used.
They should have never renamed Squaw Valley.
Dude, lose the nose ring.
Proceeded with caution - ski bum speak 'we broke out the boda bag full of Cuervo' - been there/done that, bruh
You should alway your mountain equipment alway alway
WTF I was just there heavenly & Kirkwood will this affect my ticke
Ah, Kirkwood and bota bags full of Cuervo - thems were the dayz ...WARNING not all ski bunnies are shaped the way they appear on the slopes, sometimes when the skiwear comes off its like opening a vacuum sealed mattress, bring two 'botas' just in case! Cheers
Hey Chad --- do something in the bay area, leave your greed off the mountain!
wind
COME ON MAN so he and the story is NOT relevant as he can add nothing more then wow i was there just min before it happens WOW what a story
Nancy could send the Poop Patrol to clean this mess up...
