Thanks for the tip but this would have been our second visit to Egypt. We spent almost more than a month in Egypt in 2020 and had similar experiences back then too where people scammed us many times. We can't comment on the entire country as there are beautiful parts of it but some experiences are disappointing.

Egyptian officials are unpredictable. They do often behave like nut case. I had a bad experience with them when crossing the border. But average Egyptians are good and often bend backwards to help.

I remember taking my mobile phone with camera into Saudi when the camera phones were just coming out, authorities at Jeddah airport would not allow me to take it into the country. On my insistance they allowed me finally. I used to work in KSA as a British expat
