We ventured to the peninsular’s southernmost state of Johor to visit one of Malaysia’s former ‘new villages’ - an area of forced resettlement of Chinese by the British to separate them from the Communist guerillas during the Malayan Emergency Period.
Due to a lucky coincidence, we met and were toured around by one of Yong Peng’s original residents, Mr. Thong. And, when he was busy, we also ventured to a digger repair center, wholesale produce warehouse, and ironworks shop.
Omg, that's my hometown, you were so close to my house🫨 BTW welcome to Yong Peng!!!

Do visit segamat next round, beautiful town and nice church near the rockgarden and the segamat palace and monument.
Sounds good - I would love to!
@@maxwell.carver Hope you do come back to Malaysia again. Places of worship here are usually booming with locals in smaller towns like churches( when the parish office is open, they can give some history of the town), mosques also offer a wonderful history by the residents, temples both hindu and buddhist also share a lot of stories due to being associated with families during construction.
That's my birthplace ❤,i was born and raised in Yong Peng until my family decided to relocate to Singapore when i was 5. I still go back once in a while to visit my extended families from both sides, especially my aunts and my cousins. I miss the food and the simplicity of the daily life in a small town. See you soon Yong peng. ❤ Thank you for introducing Yong Peng,Malaysia to the whole world .❤❤❤
