- This is our first short documentary as we focus on one of Irish football's most heated rivalries - the Louth derby.
We've spoken to fans, ultras and players from each club to get a real sense of what this rivalry means to the people of Louth. This is the biggest derby you've never heard about.

Fantastic piece, should be very proud of it. First time I've seen the derby documented in this way and hopefully not the last
Thanks mate, it’s been a lot of fun putting it together and hopefully it’s the first of many we make on Irish football ⚽️🎥
I had the pleasure and privilege of experiencing the Louth derby. I'm from the US and was in Dundalk the Summer of 2014 along with my brother and parents visiting family. I always try to go see a game at Oriel Park when I'm back visiting, however there was no game scheduled at Oriel Park during the two weeks I was there. The closest away fixture was in Drogheda. My uncle surprised myself and my brother and had bought tickets to the match. It was two days before we went back to America. Took the bus down with my uncle and my cousins. It was mad! I've never experienced a more fun and passionate sporting event. From start to stop the atmosphere was electrifying. Without going into too much detail the animosity between both sets of supporters is very real making the outcome of the fixture that much more important than your usual league match up. The match ended in a 1-1 draw. I gotta give it up to the Drogheda boys they sure do know how to get down and rowdy, they really love their club. I'll be a Dundalk supporter until I die. Hopefully this Summer when I go back to visit my relatives in Dundalk, I can catch another match. Go figure the way its lining up there's a good chance it will be the Louth Derby! I can't wait! C'mon The Town!!!
Absolutely unreal video, a credit to yourself. What a great league to be apart of!!
Thanks very much mate
Fuck the craptown
Well done Ally, great video. It's really great to see such high-quality production covering Irish domestic Football. I truly believe that the future of Irish football relies on our domestic league. It really helps when people such as yourself give it the attention it deserves. I think the Louth Derby is the best in the country and despite Dundalk and Drogheda not being major European cities with Major European clubs the Louth Derby in terms of passion is up there as one of the best in Europe. Thank you Ally for helping show this. You've earned yourself a new subscriber. You should be proud of yourself your quality of work is excellent. I hope to see more quality content come out soon.
Cormac, thanks for the kind words mate. Really appreciate and hopefully we can continue making more docs like this in the future. Make sure and let me know when you’re back in the summer and book the flights around one of the derbies so you catch a game. ⚽️🔥
Are Drogheda really punching above their weight by being in the Premier?
The town is bigger than Dundalk (who've qualified for the Europa League twice in recent years), over twice the size of Sligo who're entering their 19th consecutive season in the top flight and about the same size as Waterford.
Granted it's a much smaller town than Cork and Limerick, whose clubs are both in the first division (second tier) but I still wouldn't say that they're punching above their weight by being in the Premier Division.
Budgets, he’s talking about punching above their weight in terms of player / staff budgets not in comparison to a town or City’s population
Great video guys, brilliant to see. here's to many more
Cheers mate, we’ll hopefully have one soon enough
Loved this. Absolutely fantastic ❤
Great piece! Well done.
Would love to see one of these on pats vs rovers or maybe bohs vs shels, they dont get as much recognition as the dublin derby but are probably more fierce
We’ll look into it 👍
Very well done, great production.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great documentary on this! Very well done indeed,

#CmonTheTown
Thanks very much lads, glad you enjoyed it. We just wanted to show people how great local football can be and this derby just encapsulates it perfectly.
You ask anyone from the rest of Ireland where they’re from and they will tell you what county they’re from first but if you ask anyone from Louth where they’re from 99%of the time they will say Dundalk or Drogheda, they’ll never say Louth, that’s how separated it is
Love this!
Actually I disagree with your comment, I wudnt say 99%,more like 100%,lol 😂
I always say Louth but that’s because nobody knows where Ardee is 😂
What about if you’re from Louth village 😂
Great film this!
Thanks mate. New one coming out soon.
Brilliant mate 👏🏻
Cheers boss
This is class Ally!
My man 🔥
Enjoyed that, there still forever in our shadows after tonight's result lol 😂 super lillywhites 🏳🏴🏁🔥🔥🔥
Really enjoyed it tonight. Good game and good goals.
@@match-in-a-minute ,absolutely 👍👍👍
6:56 utter dross ffs Dundalk is far more disadvantaged than Drogheda
Not really, higher average salary & higher gdp. Also the administrative centre of North East.
@@TC-qw3lr more disadvantaged estates and a higher unemployment rate in Dundalk
Brilliant video . Your a talented film maker 🤔 keep it up mate
Glad you enjoyed it mate 🔥 cheers
Nice Fila bomber Danny
Loved this. Would love to get involved

Good piece, but the biggest derby has to be Bohs/Rovers,they make the League 😊
Respect Drogheda fans a lot tbh, always showing up to support an absolutely nothing club that’s never done anything and never will.
Bleak but respectable stuff, almost as bleak as Drogheda town itself.
and when we fucking catch them
We’re gonna fucking smash them na na na na💜💙
Support yer local team!💜💙💜☪️
Wee County ????
Leitrim is the smallest County in Ireland.
Leitrim 35,000
Louth 139,000.
Source: 2022 Census Results.
The Population difference between the two counties is huge .
It’s based on size not population ye eejit. Also it’s just a nickname take it handy
Leitrim might have the smallest in terms of population - Louth is the smallest by area
Quick hide ….. the gaaa boys are here😂
They need to merge the two teams. Louth United Fc. 20k seater stadium
Deano taking a day off for the derby when he doesn’t even work the little jobs worth scrote
🤡🤡
